
Bapco Energies recognizes over 200 trainees in ‘Empower' Summer Internship 2025
Empower is an internship programme that provides undergraduates with hands-on experience across Bapco Energies' diverse portfolio of companies, including Bapco Refining, Bapco Upstream, Bapco Gas, Bapco Tazweed, Bapco Air Fueling, and the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY). Interns are assigned to roles aligned with their academic disciplines, allowing them to gain practical skills while fulfilling their graduation requirements.
The program is designed to prepare a new generation of talent capable of driving innovation and leading the Kingdom's energy industry into the future. By engaging directly with industry experts and real-world projects, participants develop the technical, business, and leadership skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving sector.
Mark Thomas, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Energies, underscored the program's role in advancing national talent development in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty's Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bapco Energies.
'Empower is more than a training program — it is an investment in the Kingdom of Bahrain's future,' said Thomas. AI workshop launched by French Embassy as part of Youth City 2030
The French Embassy to Bahrain, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, has launched a workshop on artificial intelligence as part of the Youth City 2030 initiative, empowering young innovators to shape the AI-driven future. Titled 'The Transformative Power of Artificial Intelligence in Entrepreneurship' and running from August 17 to 20, the program is designed to equip young Bahrainis with strategic skills to harness AI for business growth and innovation. Twenty young Bahraini tech enthusiasts are participating in this hands-on, hackathon-style workshop. Applications Under the guidance of a French AI expert, participants will build a real AI-powered start-up project while exploring practical, future-focused applications of AI across business, healthcare, finance, and other strategic industries. France, a leading force in AI, recently hosted the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, a global forum bringing together government officials, researchers, civil society, and entrepreneurs. The summit secured significant investments in AI infrastructure and innovation, while establishing a roadmap for inclusive and trustworthy AI. This workshop builds on that momentum, promoting international expertise-sharing and supporting the economic transformation AI can bring. Strategic energy concession agreement signed between the Ministry of Oil and Environment and Bapco Energies
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty's Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of Bapco Energies, witnessed the signing of a strategic energy concession agreement between the Ministry of Oil and Environment and Bapco Energies – the integrated energy group leading the transformation of Bahrain's energy sector – with EOG Resources Bahrain Awali W.L.L, a subsidiary of the United States company EOG Resources specialised in crude oil and natural gas exploration. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs; Mark Thomas, Group CEO of Bapco Energies; a delegation from EOG Resources led by Joseph Korenek, President of EOG Resources International; and a number of officials from both sides. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad affirmed that the signing of this agreement represents an important step in implementing the National Energy Strategy, noting that its provisions will combine Bapco Energies' national vision with the global expertise of EOG Resources, paving the way for new opportunities in oil and gas exploration, contributing to comprehensive national development, and supporting long-term energy security. This agreement builds on the partnership announced in January this year, following high-level meetings between HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad and EOG Resources, with the cooperation focusing on evaluating opportunities for oil and gas exploration and development in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
