Four-Star Aaryn Washington Pledges to Navy All-American Bowl
Defensive back Aaryn Washington (Santa Ana, CA/ Mater Dei High School), the four-star prosect has officially accepted his invitation to the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl. Having been selected to play in the twenty sixth edition of the Navy All-American Bowl, Washington will play in the annual East vs. West matchup on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Bowl will be nationally televised, live on NBC at 1:00 PM ET, and will feature the nation's top 100 high school football players.
Washington was selected by the Navy All-American Bowl Selection Committee, comprised of the All-American Bowl, 247Sports, and NXGN. Navy All-Americans are eligible for the Navy All-American Bowl Player of the Year Award, Anthony Muñoz Lineman of the Year Award, Navy All-American Bowl Defensive Player of the Year Award, Navy All-American Bowl Man of the Year, and Navy All-American Bowl Game MVP Award.

Only 100 football players receive the honor of wearing the Navy All-American Bowl jersey each year. The 2026 Navy All-American Bowl from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, will be presented live on NBC and Peacock.

I'm still in a learning process myself, of what makes him (Josh Simmons) tick, how does he learn best (and) how can I help him get better? There's constant communication there," said Heck, "But I would say he's certainly as talented a player as I've ever been around. He loves the game. So, those are two good things: when you're talented and you love the game, and you want to be the best, you've got a great chance to be a good one." Simmons earned Third-Team All-Big Ten honors for the 2024 National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes. Saturday's game was his first since suffering a patellar tendon injury, ending his college career.

However, when asked if Holmes might be a candidate to be removed from the rotation as well, manager Carlos Mendoza brushed aside the question after the eventual 13-5 Mets win on Tuesday. "When you have a night like (this), you're always going to start questioning. But he's coming off an outing with five innings, 75-pitch efficiency," Mendoza said, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post. "He keeps saying he's fine, the sinker is 96 (mph), the movement. He just had a hard time throwing that pitch for strikes. So we'll continue to check on him, continue to make sure we're not missing anything. He's a big part of this team." Even if Holmes keeps his rotation spot, it's difficult to say with certainty whether he'll take the mound to start a playoff game. At his best, he's been one of the keys to the Mets' success, but his recent struggles, combined with his new career-high in innings, makes for an interesting storyline to follow as the season progresses. But hey, the Mets also broke a seven-game losing streak on Tuesday, so Holmes' bad day sure isn't the end of the world. "I'm confident that, at the right time, we'll make an effort to (keep Bichette)," Shapiro said, per Bannon. At just 27 years old, Bichette is likely to earn a long-term deal reaching nine figures after this season. Spotrac projects that to be worth $147.9 million over seven seasons. So, if Shapiro plans to make the kind of effort that has a real chance of convincing Bichette to stay in Toronto, the team will have to prepare for another big contract on the books.
