Real Madrid star Raul Asencio breaks silence as he faces criminal trial over shocking video of underage girl allegedly having sex with three team-mates
The 22-year-old football star allegedly solicited a video filmed by team-mates Ferran Ruiz, 22, Andres Garcia, 22, and Juan Rodriguez, 23, in June 2023 which involved a minor and another young girl, aged 16 and 18 respectively at the time.
The players are accused of 'disclosure of secrets without consent, and violation of privacy, distributing and sending videos to third parties without consent, capturing and using minors for pornographic purposes and possession of child pornography'.
The judge in the case later clarified Asencio has not been charged with recording the video but remains indicted on charges of revealing secrets for showing the video to a third party and of child pornography.
Asencio denied the charges in a lengthy released later on Thursday.
'I have not participated in any behaviour that violates the sexual freedom of any woman, much less minors,' he said.
Asencio and the three other players were arrested at Real Madrid's training centre in September 2023 following a complaint lodged by the mother of the 16-year-old girl who appears in the video.
At the time, Spanish media reported that one of the footballers had recorded a consensual sexual encounter with the young girl before sending the video to the other players without her consent.
The Real star's full statement read: 'Following the clarification issued today by the head of the Investigating Court No. 3 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana—in which the initial indictment order was amended, expressly excluding me from both the recording of videos with sexual content and the events that were the subject of said recording—and in view of the public dissemination of information related to said procedure, I wish to state the following:
'1. I have not participated in any behavior that violates the sexual freedom of any woman, much less that of minors.
'This is confirmed by the ruling issued by the aforementioned Court, which does not accuse me of having had sexual relations with the two women involved, nor of having recorded them, with or without their consent. Likewise, the court order clarifies that I was not the one who sent any intimate images or videos to third parties, which, I reiterate, were recorded in a location other than where I was.
'2. The court order, as far as I am concerned, limits its content to the eventual momentary viewing of some images by a third party, without attributing to me any participation in their recording or dissemination.
'3. The charges brought against me, as expressly stated in the court ruling itself, are strictly provisional. Therefore, the presumption of innocence must continue to prevail. Should charges ultimately be filed and a trial commence, I will continue to defend myself before the Courts and Tribunals, in which I have full confidence, reaffirming my innocence of any criminal conduct. All of this is without prejudice to the utmost respect for the conduct of the judicial proceedings as a whole, including those of the other persons under investigation.
'4. I want to reiterate, once again, my absolute respect for the rights to sexual freedom and privacy of all women.'
🚨 COMUNICADO OFICIAL DE ASENCIO 🚨
Quiero reiterar, una vez más, mi absoluto respeto por los derechos a la libertad sexual y a la intimidad de todas las mujeres.

Asencio has established himself as a first-team regular in his breakthrough season at Madrid.
Fans at various stadiums around Spain have jeered Asencio, with some Barcelona fans chanting 'Asencio, to jail' during the Clasico on Sunday.
Real Madrid's Copa del Rey semi-final win at Real Sociedad in February was briefly paused by the referee after home fans chanted 'Asencio die'.
According to the court ruling, both women show symptoms consistent with post-traumatic stress disorder, Spanish sports outlet AS reported.
The judge at the Gran Canaria High Court said there was enough evidence to support allegations of violation of privacy, distribution of videos to third parties without the victims' knowledge or consent, solicitation of a minor for pornographic purposes and possession of child pornography.
Article 197 of Spain's Criminal Code states that any individual convicted of recording and sharing an explicit video of a minor will face between three-and-a-half and five years in prison.
This would drop to a two-and-a-half to four-year prison sentence if found guilty of non-consensual recording.
If Asencio is culpable of only sharing the video the sentence would be expected to be less severe.
The authorities confirmed charges were filed by the mother of the 16-year-old girl over the alleged non-consensual filming of her daughter.
The complainant has stated that the sexual activity was consensual, but the recording of it was not.
Following his arrest in 2023, Asencio tried to have his part in the case dismissed in February by appealing to end the investigation into his alleged role, however the judge decided to uphold the decision to move ahead with the inquiry.
Asencio has had his breakthrough campaign at Real this season and spoke about the allegations after being called up to the Spain national team for the first time.
Last month he told RTVE: 'I think everyone is aware of what they are doing. For that reason, I am very calm.
'So, well, live day by day. In the end, it's a matter of deadlines. I have noticed this change of pressure on the pitches.
'It's logical, with the change of category (after Spain call-up). I'm a person who likes and is motivated by feeling that pressure. Since I was a kid, I'm used to feeling that pressure at Real Madrid. It makes me even more motivated.'
He has played 22 games for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season in a disappointing campaign for Los Blancos that looks set to finish without silverware.
In February, Asencio went public on his relationship with Spanish influencer Selenia Suarez, who regularly attends the Bernabeu to watch him and is unrelated to the criminal case.

Sky Sports pundits split over Premier League title winner after predicting their top five - as Roy Keane names key to Liverpool retaining their title
insisted Liverpool will need to bring more players in if they are to retain their Premier League title this season. Following Arsenal 's win over Man United on Sunday, Keane and fellow Sky Sports pundits Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge were tasked with giving their predictions for the 2025-26 campaign. The trio each selected a top five, but none could agree on which team will have their hands on the trophy come the end of May. In his predictions, Keane backed Mikel Arteta to finally get Arsenal over the hump and claim the title after three consecutive second-placed finishes. Keane then placed Liverpool second, followed by Man City and Newcastle, with Chelsea rounding out his top five. The usually unwavering Irishman qualified his prediction however, by noting that Liverpool will be able to make it two wins on the bounce if they are able to bolster their squad before the end of the transfer window. 'Depending on signings, if we're allowed to change our mind, I'm convinced that Liverpool can get another centre half then I would go with Liverpool,' Keane said on Sky Sports. The Reds have enjoyed a productive summer in the transfer market as Arne Slot looks to build on the success of his first year on Merseyside. Hugo Ekitike has already made an impact for the Reds alongside marquee arrival Florian Wirtz and the club are understood to be still pursuing a move for wantaway Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. As far as defensive reinforcements are concerned, the club have been repeatedly linked with a move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. Meanwhile former Man City defender Richards backed his boyhood club to return to the top of the mountain after a poor campaign by their standards last season. However, Keane insisted that he feels Pep Guardiola's side still time to get back to their best. 'I never usually bet against Pep and City,' Keane added. 'I just think maybe defensively, and I know that they've thrown James Trafford in there, and I think he's a really top goalkeeper but I just have that gut feeling that I think Arsenal might do it this year. 'But as I said, I think if Liverpool get a center half, and I would definitely change my mind on Liverpool. 'Even looking at Liverpool, sometimes when Liverpool aren't even added, or even City, when they're not at their best, they'll still score two or three goals.' Sturridge joined Richards in claiming one of his former clubs will go all the way, as the ex-Liverpool striker claimed the Reds have what it takes. Like Keane though, the 35-year-old claimed that the club would benefit from bolstering their squad depth. '[Liverpool] a strong squad, but I do think they need maybe one or two additions to strengthen up.' Sturridge said. 'I think they need a defender, and, of course, one more attacker. They're a little bit short in both of those areas.'

'I want to be one of the best players in the world,' says loan star Mikey Moore as Jayden Meghoma joins him at Rangers
Mikey Moore insists he sees his season-long loan at Rangers as a platform to help him become one of the best players in world football. The 18-year-old winger signed a new long-term contract at Tottenham Hotspur shortly after agreeing his move across the border and made his debut for the Ibrox outfit in their 4-2 home win over Alloa in the Premier Sports Cup. Moore started brightly, setting up Nedim Bajrami for the opening goal, and showed flashes of his ability before being replaced by Thelo Aasgaard on 69 minutes. He promises there is far more to come, though, and has set his sights high when addressing how big an incentive it is to show he can go on to become a bona-fide English Premier League player. 'It's massive for me,' said Moore, who has been joined at Rangers by his England Under-19 team-mate Jayden Meghoma after he completed a loan move from Brentford. 'I want to go and play in the biggest competitions and I want to be one of the best players in the world, hopefully. 'I've signed a new contract at Spurs, but, at the minute, I'm focused on playing here. I'm just buzzing to go and play some massive games at this football club. 'I want to become a better player here and I think there are massive opportunities. 'I just want to play as many games as possible, score as many goals and excite as many people as I can.' And Moore is clear that he would like the chance to star in Tuesday's Champions League qualifying play-off first leg against Belgians Club Brugge. 'It's a massive game, as every game is when you play for Rangers,' he said. 'I'm excited for it. 'I saw some of the games in the earlier rounds and it's been good to qualify, so it's a massive opportunity for me and all the boys. I can't wait.' Moore made five outings for Spurs in the group stage of the Europa League last season, but missed out on the 1-1 group stage draw with Rangers at Ibrox because of illness. He then watched from the bench as the London club went on to win the tournament under former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou. He hopes those experiences under his belt will help him kick on in UEFA competition for Rangers this term. 'It was a really good season in Europe for me and for the team, so I've had some good experiences and I'm ready to go and show more,' he said. 'I want to go and make more of an impact on a European stage.' Meanwhile, new arrival Meghoma declared himself 'hungry and excited' to get going at Ibrox after being reunited with manager Russell Martin. The 19-year-old left-back has joined Rangers on loan in a deal which paves the way for Jefte to complete an anticipated move back to Brazil to sign for Palmeiras. Meghoma made his first-team debut for Southampton under Martin, making four cup appearances in all before signing for Brentford last summer. He has also made four appearances for the Bees and spent the second half of last season on loan at Preston. He told the Rangers website: 'I am very excited to be here, it is a fantastic club and I know a lot about the rich history of Rangers. 'When the deal was presented to me, I thought straight away that it would be a fantastic opportunity for myself and my family. 'The main thing for me is getting results. Rangers is a big club and I am ready, I am hungry and excited to get going.' Ibrox head coach Martin added: 'I am really pleased to welcome Jayden to Rangers. I have worked with him before and I know exactly what he brings. He is a young player with big potential, real athleticism and a great attitude. 'He is hungry to learn and improve and I'm confident he'll thrive in this environment. We're excited to help him take the next step in his career here at Ibrox.'

Matheus Cunha's electric debut and the Man United gamble worth taking
Plenty had their warnings. Questions over his temperament persisted. Did Manchester United, with their chequered transfer history, really need to gamble on a forward with such meagre running stats? One who cannot be trusted to keep his head? But Matheus Cunha has already showed, even when failing to find the net as United slumped to another home loss against Arsenal, that it is his unhinged and unpredictable temperament that he is exactly what United need right now. In many ways it was same old United on Sunday. Amorim suffered his 15th defeat in what was his 28th Premier League game as United manager – this is the fastest a manager has reached 15 defeats in the competition, without taking charge of a newly promoted team in that period, since Paul Hart with Portsmouth in 2009. Conceding first and being unable to muster even a suggestion of a response plagued last season's year to forget. United have now fallen 1-0 behind in more league home games than any other ever-present side since the start of last season. Shipping goals from goalkeepers errors or corners remains a staple around these parts, too. Cunha didn't adhere to the well-trodden meek surrender script, however. Every time the Brazilian was on the half turn, he only had one thing in mind. Alejandro Garnacho does it on occasion, when not sulking, Amad Diallo is capable of leaving supporters gasping for air, while peak Marcus Rashford had defenders dazed and confused with regularity. One of the many gaps in the rusting United armour under Amorim has been the lack of someone willing to take the attack to their opponents on enough occasions to make a real difference. With confidence severely lacking, defenders have all too often left Old Trafford having not been on the back foot once all match. Cunha bucked that trend on debut. Four shots and four successful dribbles deserved a goal. Bryan Mbeumo's intent warranted more, too. Anything but overawed fronting this new-look United forward line, Cunha's energy and inability to go into any duel at less than full throttle is the grab-by-the-scruff-of-the-neck everyone needed, even if the result told a different story. In contrast, Arsenal's frontline did not muster a single attack of note all match in the glorious Old Trafford sunshine. They will take victory at a rejuvenated Manchester United, however it comes. But Mikel Arteta, having seen Manchester City and Liverpool plunder four goals each in a swashbuckling manner that few teams will be able to cope with, will head back south with major concerns. None more so than Viktor Gyokeres. Twenty-one touches, nine passes, zero shots before being hauled off. Plenty have had worse starts, but the early signs are not great. Cunha sprung to United's attention at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign, as he rampaged around Old Trafford like a rockstar on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. United's beleaguered backline had no answer to the velocity of the performance back then and senior figures never forgot what they saw. His all-action showing against Arsenal didn't quite reach the same decibels, but those occasions when he drove right into the heart of one of the best defences in world football ensured many in the Stretford End are beginning to identify a new cult hero. 'It is our feeling that we play better,' Amorim said. 'In the end we lose the game, but I'm really proud of the effort they put in the game. We proved today that we can win any game in the Premier League, we were the better team.' And that increased optimism was down to the performance of one man. Whether through the middle or from out wide, Cunha's power, poise and guile are clearly what the doctor ordered. Even in defeat, United's performance on Sunday gave life to pre-season optimistic hopes that there is something in the works around M16. We might not see the fruits of what Amorim is trying to do for a while, but Old Trafford has not borne witness to such attacking intent, even when remaining scoreless, for some time. And that cannot be overlooked. Any red revolution needs a figurehead. And it appears, even among a packed field of fresh-faced, expensive forwards, Cunha is right at home leading the charge.
