Raymah launches Zakat al-Fitr, cash assistance programs for needy families
Raymah - Saba:
The General Authority of Zakat and Charity in Raymah province has initiated Zakat al-Fitr and cash assistance projects aimed at supporting unemployed and impoverished families across the province's districts for the year 1446 AH.
The projects, implemented in collaboration with the Postal Authority, will distribute Zakat al-Fitr to 13,025 families, with a total budget of 260.5 million Y.R. Additionally, 556 families will receive cash assistance, totaling 33.36 million Yemeni riyals.
Province undersecretary Mohammed Murad stressed the significance of these projects in alleviating the financial burdens faced by poor and needy families. He praised Zakat Authority's efforts in implementing charitable initiatives that align with the objectives of Zakat distribution.
Governorate mobilization officer Mohammed al-Nahari highlighted the importance of ensuring that Zakat al-Fitr reaches its rightful recipients, thereby alleviating the suffering of the poor and needy in the governorate's districts. He urged community cooperation in supporting further charitable projects.
Ali al-Nahari, director of the Zakat Authority office in Raymah, reiterated the office's commitment to distributing Zakat al-fitr, cash assistance, and other aid in accordance with Islamic law.
He called upon local businessmen and merchants to contribute their Zakat, emphasizing that the aid will be distributed through post offices across the province's districts.

Yemen's Houthis "warn" companies to leave Israel
The Houthis yesterday renewed their warning to all firms investing in Israel, urging them to leave immediately or risk bearing full responsibility for any potential losses. Mahdi Al-Mashat, president of the Supreme Political Council — the highest governing authority in the Houthi-led administration in Sanaa — called on all companies investing in Israel to take the Yemeni warning seriously and to withdraw quickly, stressing that the environment is no longer safe. His remarks were reported by Houthi-run media. Occupied al-Quds- Saba: The Israeli newspaper "The Marker" revealed that revenues from the port of Eilat collapsed by 80% in 2024, after ships stopped docking there following the blockade imposed by Yemeni forces on maritime navigation in the Red Sea in support of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli government will vote next Sunday on a draft resolution for compensation conditional on the payment of a debt of 3.2 million shekels accumulated by the port owners. The draft resolution reveals the extent of the damage to the port due to the blockade imposed by the Yemeni armed forces, which has prevented ships from sailing through the Red Sea, forcing them instead to circumnavigate Africa to reach Israel's Mediterranean ports, Ashdod and Haifa. From the beginning of 2025 to mid-May, only six ships docked at the port. The suspension of operations placed 21 employees on unpaid leave, compared to only 16 ships docked last year. In 2023, port revenues reached NIS 212 million. In 2024, they decreased by approximately 80%, reaching NIS 42 million, compared to 134 ships docking at the port in 2023.
