'Delicious' new protein powder has shoppers saying it 'fills them up and takes away cravings'
With this in mind, one emerging brand is causing quite a stir in the wellness sector - Selfish, specifically designed for women's health requirements, has now landed in the UK, being sold at Boots stores. Developed by Australian social media personalities, the Hembrow sisters, this range aims to help users prioritise their personal wellbeing.
Engineered to champion women's health and fitness goals, protein forms the cornerstone of this innovative collection. Their Give Me Plant Protein Powder delivers a substantial 20g of protein in each serving.
The Hembrow sisters said that the collection's main goal is this: "We wanted to create a brand that spoke directly to them—with straightforward solutions that support their goals, taste amazing, and balance the right ingredients to fuel their bodies without the added expectations."
While there are supplements to help boost hydration, energy and gut health, the brand's protein powders, £29 for a one off purchase, are perhaps its most popular product. Give Me Plant Protein Powder, which is gluten, dairy, soy and artificial sweetener free as well as being vegan and halal friendly, comes in two 'delicious' flavours, French vanilla and Rich Chocolate.
The silky powder, designed like conventional alternatives to be mixed into post-workout smoothies or basic shakes, offers a plant-based solution derived from pea, brown rice, and hemp proteins. Beyond its plant-based formula, it contains components the brand describes as 'gentle on the stomach'.
It also features added prebiotic fibre, another ingredient that is touted to be able to support gut health. Whilst muscle strengthening, repair, and toning remain the primary benefits of protein supplementation, Selfish users are reporting an unexpected bonus - reduced bloating, reports the Mirror.
Of course, there are lots of other protein powders and supplements out there designed to enhance overall well being. The Impact Whey Protein Powder from My Protein, for example, costs £13.99 and offers 23g of protein per scoop.
There's also the Wellwoman Vitabiotics Wellwoman 50+ 30 Tablets available at Holland and Barrett for £10.49, perfect for vegetarians looking to support their brain, heart, and vision health. For ladies seeking to enhance their hectic, energetic lifestyles, Selfish's collection of supplements crafted specifically for women might just be the ideal answer
One customer shared their experience and said: "It's really helped with my bloating. I have tried so many gut powders and they all taste so gross. I have been taking this for the last week and I am obsessed with the flavour."
It's not just post-workout that the protein powder can be taken. Another person mentioned the benefit they've experienced for their stomach, explaining it helps them remain satisfied and satiates their sweet tooth in the afternoon - beating the post-lunch slump.
They said: "I've been sipping it straight after lunch when I need that sweet hit. I find that it fills me up and takes away the craving. Also, it's completely delicious."
This feedback on the powder's taste is a common theme in reviews, with many citing how it has 'no chalky texture' - something a lot of protein powders tend to have. One customer said that it 'tastes amazing in smoothies or even with just water and ice.'
It's suggested to mix one scoop into 250ml of water or into a smoothie, though some reviewers felt this quantity wasn't sufficient. As one individual commented: "One scoop is a bit too selfish. I needs a couple for it to really make a difference in taste."
For women aiming to complement their busy, active lifestyles, Selfish's range of supplements designed exclusively for women could prove to be the perfect solution.

Dr Vegan Gut Works Supplements From £14.50 Dr Vegan Buy Now on Dr Vegan Product Description While other supplement brands offer various formulations and bacterial strains, focusing more on specific symptoms and potentially at a higher cost, some individuals find swallowing capsules off-putting. For those seeking a liquid alternative, celebrities like Frankie Bridge and Georgia Toffolo have endorsed Symprove, available in a variety of flavours, including Pineapple, Strawberry, and Raspberry. Alternatively, LookFantastic has slashed the price of MyProtein's Gut Gummies by 48 percent, bringing them down to £16.99. These chewable tablets provide a convenient way to boost digestive health, packed with one billion live cultures and 40mg of vitamin C. Meanwhile, customer reviews for Dr Vegan's Gut Works are mainly positive, boasting a 4.3-star rating based on over 300 reviews. Customers have reported a range of benefits, including alleviated IBS symptoms and bloating, as well as weight loss and improved mood. One thrilled customer, who gave her name as Joanne, shared: "IBS symptoms and life changed forever. My gastroenterologist advised me to consider this type of product, stating that if I took it every day without fail, my symptoms would likely improve. I came across this product and decided to give it a try. He was right. I could not visit friends for dinner, had trouble on holiday and my social life was controlled by my stomach... not any more. Life changing." Another buyer, Conal, added to the rave reviews: "Excellent product. My stomach feels less bloated, and with a change of eating habits, I have started to lose weight. I will continue to take Gut Works from now on." Sheila also shared encouraging results from her trial: "I'm very impressed. My bloating has stopped/disappeared, and I've lost 4lb." A further satisfied customer branded the supplement as life-altering: "Gut Works is quite simply magic. I had been suffering with IBS and tummy issues for years. Gut Works has really changed my life. I didn't think anything could help me but Gut Works has." However, not all feedback was entirely glowing, highlighting how individual gut health reactions can differ. Whilst some praised it as miraculous, others didn't experience the same level of transformation. One user, however, had a different experience and saw no benefits: "Didn't work for me. It was easy to swallow, though, and I liked that it was taken once a day. I've just received a lovely note from the company though and they have refunded me." Despite occasional negative reviews, overall customer sentiment remains overwhelmingly positive. Another delighted customer shared a five-star review, stating: "Since taking Gut Works, my tummy is so much better. Flatter and my trousers fit. I haven't changed my diet, so it's all down to Gut Work." Those interested in trying the Gut Works supplements can buy them from their website, with the opportunity to use the promotional code GUT50 for a 50 percent discount on an initial order from Dr Vegan.

Scottish Labour take £200k in private healthcare-linked donations
Welcome to this week's Branch Office Updates! Subscribe for free using the linked banner above. SCOTTISH Labour have been panned over research which finds its MPs have received nearly £200,000 from donors linked to private healthcare. The SNP have said that leader Anas Sarwar must 'come clean'. Earlier this year, EveryDoctor revealed that MPs had bagged more than £2.7m in donations from people with links to the private healthcare sector. READ MORE: Australian influencers 'damage' historic Jacobite site, as investigation launches Among those receiving the most donations was Health Secretary Wes Streeting who has pocketed a whopping £224,575. The organisation's research, however, also found that half of all Scottish Labour MPs – including Scottish Secretary Ian Murray (below) and Minister Kirsty McNeill – have received donations from companies or individuals linked directly or indirectly with private healthcare, worth a total of £192,071. The largest donor to Scottish MPs is the Labour Together Ltd think tank. It is primarily funded by Martin Taylor, who founded the hedge fund Crake Asset Management, as well as Trevor Chinn, a senior adviser to the private equity firm CVC Capital Partners. CVC has investments in dozens of private healthcare companies in the UK, Europe and Asia, whilst Taylor's firm has held millions worth of shares in firms including United Health and Elevance Health. Several Scottish Labour MPs – Gregor Poynton, Melanie Ward, and Martin McCluskey – have also benefited from donations from Danny Luhde-Thompson, who is an advisor to investment firm Quadrature Capital, which has had extensive shareholding in private healthcare firms. READ MORE: Ian Blackford to give shock return in Kate Forbes seat 'careful consideration' The donations have been declared in the proper manner and there is no suggestion of wrongdoing. But SNP MSP Clare Haughey has told The National that these figures are 'alarming to everyone who is serious about protecting the NHS". 'The volume and amount of donations involved show just how much influence these shadowy think tanks and hedge funds have within the Labour Party,' she added. 'Even before coming to power, Labour's Health Secretary Wes Streeting said that he would 'hold the door wide open' to private investment in the NHS. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see why when you discover who is bankrolling the Labour Party.' Haughey went on: 'Anas Sarwar previously tried to dismiss Labour Together Ltd as a group on the 'fringes' of the Labour Party. The fact that they have funded half of his MPs would suggest they are far from being on the fringes but are in fact at the very heart of Labour. 'Sarwar must come clean on Scottish Labour's position on private healthcare, and whether his prospective MSPs will be getting bankrolled by groups with links to private healthcare. 'Whilst Labour has many questions to answer, one thing is clear – only the SNP will protect the NHS and ensure that healthcare is provided based on medical need rather than the ability to pay." A Scottish Labour spokesperson said: "All donations are declared in line with Parliamentary and Ministerial rules. "While one in six Scots are abandoned by the SNP on NHS waiting lists, the Labour Party – who created the NHS – will always make sure it remains free at the point of need on our watch."
