Former Georgia, Arizona State quarterback Jaden Rashada heading to Sacramento State
The well-traveled Rashada announced his latest destination on Instagram Friday.
Rashada did not appear in any games for the Bulldogs after spending his freshman season at Arizona State. He started three games for the Sun Devils, throwing for 485 yards and four touchdowns with three interceptions before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Rashada initially agreed to play at Miami coming out of Pittsburg High School in California, but signed a letter of intent to play at Florida. He didn't play for the Gators and later sued coach Billy Napier and the program's top booster over a failed name, image and likeness deal worth nearly $14 million.
Rashada has three years of eligibility left.

No. 12 Illinois and star QB Luke Altmyer are ready to enter uncharted territory
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — The ingredients are there for No. 12 Illinois to emerge from years of mediocrity and make a run into the 12-team College Football Playoff. The Illini flew under the radar on their way to a 10-win season last year — their first since 2001 — and they return 18 starters including star quarterback Luke Altmyer. The Illini haven't had two straight winning seasons since they were 7-6 in 2010 and 2011. They haven't been ranked in the AP preseason poll since 2008, when they were No. 20. How they handle high expectations for the first time in years could determine their success in 2025. Coach Bret Bielema, starting his fifth season with the Illini with a new six-year contract, and his players say they welcome the challenge. 'I love the resilience of our team,' Bielema said. 'These guys are better when they've been punched in the face. That doesn't mean I need to punch them. You know what I mean.' Altmyer said the team isn't afraid of entering new waters. 'We're tough and resilient,' he said. Linebacker Malachi Hood said the Illini were happy, but not satisfied after last season. 'Ten wins was great, but why settle for 10 when you can get 11 or 12?' he said. 'The postseason is right there on the table for us.' Defensive back Miles Scott believes a saying he's heard often during preseason workouts describes the team's outlook. 'The saying is, 'Success is like cologne,' he said. 'You can smell it, but don't drink it because it could kill you.' We need to keep our focus narrow, not look at outside things.' Altmyer's passing targets Altmyer was one of the nation's most efficient passers last season with 22 TD passes and just six interceptions. Who will be his main targets through the air with the departures of Pat Bryant, now with the Denver Broncos, and Zakhari Franklin? The leading candidates are West Virginia transfer Hudson Clement and Hank Beatty. Clement had 51 catches for 741 yards last year for the Mountaineers. Beatty caught 20 passes and 294 yards while also ranking fourth in the nation in punt returns with an average of 14.1 yards. A balanced attack Illinois is counting on the running back tandem of Kaden Feagin and Aidan Laughery to establish a ground game that complements Altmyer's passing attack. Feagin played in just five games last year before being injured. He was averaging nearly 70 yards a game rushing at the time. Laughery led the Illini with 6.1 yards per carry last season. Last line of defense Defensive back Xavier Scott and strong safety Matthew Bailey anchor a solid Illini secondary. Scott had four interceptions and six pass breakups in addition to 49 tackles and one forced fumble last year. Bailey returned with a vengeance last fall after missing the 2023 season with a shoulder injury, making 94 tackles and forcing three fumbles. Snap to it Illinois has a solid kicking game, anchored by the reliable long snapper Lane Hansen, who has started 35 consecutive games. During that time, the Illini have converted 86 of 90 PATs, 49 of 59 field goals and had just one punt blocked in 97 attempts. Punter Keelan Crimmins, a Purdue transfer, averaged 44.9 yards on 64 punts last season for the Boilermakers including 17 punts inside the 20-yard line. Placekicker David Olano was 17 of 20 on field goals in 2024, including making 16 of 18 from inside the 50. The schedule The Illini will open the season Aug. 29 at home against Western Illinois and play just two games against preseason ranked teams: No. 20 Indiana on the road Sept. 20 and No. 3 Ohio State at home Oct. 11. Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed passes physical and is removed from PUP list
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee cornerback L'Jarius Sneed passed his physical, and the Tennessee Titans removed him from the physically unable to perform list Wednesday in time to start practicing. The two-time Super Bowl champion was part of the Titans' big offseason spending spree in March 2024, with Tennessee trading for the cornerback. Sneed played in just five games and wound up on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury. Sneed said during an offseason camp that he was as healthy as he's been. But the Titans put him on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp, with team officials saying Sneed had a cleanup of a knee in May. The Titans open the season Sept. 7 at Denver. Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson said Sneed will be day to day in his return, with the five-year veteran being eased back into practice. 'It's good to get him back out there, and he's been chomping at the bit,' Wilson said before practice. 'He's been doing everything in his power in the training room to get to this point,' Wilson said. 'So I'm just excited for the young man, not just the football player but him because I know the work that he's put in.' Sneed has 10 career interceptions, though he's still looking for his first with Tennessee. The Titans are counting on Sneed to start in a secondary featuring second-year cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and Roger McCreary. Titans starting center Lloyd Cushenberry III passed his physical and returned from the physically unable to perform list on Aug. 11. After delaying their NFL dreams, No. 2 Penn State's stars are chasing an elusive national title
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — The longer Penn State quarterback Drew Allar weighed his options, the more he thought how sweet it would be to bring a national championship to Happy Valley. After No. 2 Penn State's down-to-the-wire loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinal last season, the allure of unfinished business outweighed professional prospects for the rocket-armed senior who'll lead one of college football's deepest and most experienced teams. 'I know how much better I want to be as a player and leave my mark on Penn State and obviously accomplish the thing that we came close to last year but came up short in,' Allar said. He'll be joined by 15 returning starters who won a program-best 13 games last season. Star running backs Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen, and standout defensive linemen Dani Dennis-Sutton and Zane Durant also opted to delay their NFL careers to chase the program's first NCAA championship since 1986. Now in his 12th season, coach James Franklin understands the expectations of a fanbase weary of playing second-fiddle to Ohio State or Michigan year after year. 'We were a few points and a few drives away from playing for the National Championship and people were pissed,' Franklin said. 'That's what you sign up for when you come to Penn State, and so those expectations are always really high.' That's why Franklin signed Jim Knowles away from Ohio State after the veteran defensive coordinator helped lead the Buckeyes to last season's championship over Oregon, the team that edged Penn State in the Big Ten finale. 'When you look at all of our personnel, not just the players, but the staff and players, it's the best combination that we've had in my 12 years here,' Franklin said. 'The depth, the experience, the talent is impressive.' In the trenches The Nittany Lions are big and deep along the offensive and defensive lines. Sixth-year center Nick Dawkins will be flanked by guards Olaivavega Ioane and Drew Shelton while Anthony Donkoh and Nolan Rucci bookend as tackles. The group combined for 60 starts, helped generate 202 rushing yards per game and mostly kept Allar upright last season. Meanwhile, Dennis-Sutton and Durant combined for 24 of the defense's 119 tackles for loss and 11 1/2 of its 44 sacks. Through the air Second-year offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki wants to get more receivers involved. Penn State's leading wideout caught just 46 passes a year ago while star tight end Tyler Warren accounted for 106 catches. With Warren playing on Sundays now, Kotelnicki is looking for transfers Kyron Hudson (USC), Devonte Ross (Troy) and Trebor Peña (Syracuse) to help veteran Liam Clifford on the outside. Ross caught 129 balls for 1,618 yards and 14 touchdowns in three years for the Trojans. Peña had 84 of his 109 career catches for the Orange last fall and led the team with nine touchdowns. 'It's going to be really important coming out of the first three games that we feel like we really know what we have with those three guys and how we can use them,' Franklin said. Linebacker U With star linebacker Abdul Carter now a New York Giant, all eyes will be on junior Tony Rojas to lead Linebacker U's linebacker corps early. Knowles can't wait to watch him, especially considering Rojas sat out spring practice after having shoulder surgery. Yes, he was banged up for most of his coming out season where he tied for the team lead with three interceptions, was fifth in total tackles and added a sack. 'Very impressed,' Knowles said. 'He seems to have developed physically in the offseason. He's picked things up quickly which is tough to do when you don't get the reps on field.' The schedule The Nittany Lions have home games against Nevada (Aug. 30), Florida International (Sept. 6) and Villanova (Sept. 13) to start. They're idle before hosting Oregon on Sept. 27 in a rematch of last season's Big Ten championship game.
