Scooter Braun Is Vacating The HYBE America CEO Position
If you're a pop music and K-pop fan, you'll be familiar with the name Scooter Braun. The music executive doesn't have the best rep amongst fans for many reasons – but a recent update on his role in HYBE America garnered mixed reactions. Yesterday (1st July 2025, Tuesday), major news outlets reported that Scooter will be stepping down from his CEO position at HYBE America. The music mogul has been the head of the HYBE subsidiary since its establishment in 2021 after the South Korean company acquired Scooter's company, Ithaca Holdings. It's unknown when the move will be official, but the news has been shared internally amongst HYBE America staffers. Online, netizens cheered over the news of Scooter stepping down as CEO. K-pop fans have repeatedly called for HYBE to distance themselves from the record executive because of his open support for Zionism and other controversies. Many were happy with the news that Scooter will no longer be heading the company, which houses the global girl group KATSEYE. However, there's more to this announcement. While Scooter may no longer be the CEO of HYBE America, he'll still hold an advisory position in the company. The 44-year-old will join the HYBE Board of Directors as a director and a senior advisor to chairman and CEO Bang Si-Hyuk. Scooter will also remain the second-largest individual shareholder in the company and will continue to help guide artists on the HYBE roster. Fans are understandably not happy to hear that Scooter will still play a role in the company and the activities of HYBE Label artists, especially KATSEYE. Some have continued to pressure the company against platforming supporters of Zionism by helping trend the hashtag #HYBEDivestFromZionism on social media. Others said they would continue to boycott the company and its releases until they cut all ties with Scooter. Meanwhile, Isaac Lee Possin, who has been chairman of HYBE Latin America since November 2023, will take over the HYBE America CEO position. What are your thoughts on this? 'The Star Chapter: TOGETHER': Everything We Know So Far About TXT's Comeback
Tomorrow X Together (투모로우바이투게더) recently announced their comeback with their 8th album, 'The Star Chapter: TOGETHER'. Fans have been eagerly anticipating this particular release, as it continues the group's lore and concept that has been in development since their pre-debut days. Following the release of the concept trailer, BigHit Music also unveiled the official tracklist for the upcoming album, and excitement is certainly building. While we wait for the group's highly anticipated return to the K-pop scene, here's what we know so far about the forthcoming project: 1. The new album is part of TXT's lore Many K-pop idol groups incorporate a lore — an overarching storyline or fictional universe that links their music videos, performances and other content. Since their debut, TXT have consistently released concept albums that tie into this narrative, beginning with 'The Dream Chapter' (STAR, MAGIC, ETERNITY), followed by 'The Chaos Chapter' (FREEZE, FIGHT OR ESCAPE), 'The Name Chapter' (TEMPTATION, FREEFALL), and now 'The Star Chapter' (SANCTUARY, TOGETHER). 2. The members co-wrote some of the songs Since 'The Dream Chapter: MAGIC', the members of TXT have taken part in the songwriting process for several tracks, and this album is no exception. As seen in the official track list above, Yeonjun, Beomgyu and Taehyun have songwriting and production credits on four of the eight tracks: 'Upside Down Kiss', 'Ghost Girl', 'Take My Half' and 'Bird of Night'. 3. The comeback is set for 21st July According to the teaser announcement, the new album is set for release on 21st July 2025 (Monday). Typically, the title track is unveiled on the same day, and according to the official schedule, TXT will also be releasing the music video for the lead single on comeback day. While fans may have to wait a little longer, one thing's certain: the group will continue to roll out teasers and promotional content in the lead-up to 'The Star Chapter: TOGETHER'. 4. Members will perform a comeback showcase According to BigHit Music, TXT is scheduled to hold a comeback showcase on 21st July at 8pm at the Kyung Hee University Grand Peace Palace, which has an estimated seating capacity of 4,500. Announcements regarding the online streaming platform for the performance will be shared on a later date. We're looking forward to seeing the boys back on stage, and we're confident that it will be as magical as ever. 5. TXT will embark on a world tour In support of the highly anticipated release, TXT will embark on their 'ACT: TOGETHER' world tour starting on 22nd August, with the first stop, naturally, being in South Korea at the Gocheok Sky Dome. Future dates have yet to be announced, but let's hope Malaysia will be included as one of the stops for this upcoming tour. Bonus: 'K-pop Demon Hunters' promo While it may not be a direct promotion for their comeback, BigHit Music have finally released a special, never-before-seen dance performance video of TXT's 'Eternally'. The content was originally filmed for Halloween a few years ago, but its release was postponed out of respect for the victims of the Itaewon Halloween tragedy. Now that the Saja Boys from Netflix's 'K-pop Demon Hunters' have gone viral, this performance coincidentally aligns with the fictional group's concept and final performance in the film. Was Keung To's fall into sea a cry for help for Hong Kong band Mirror?
Hong Kong Cantopop boy band Mirror is navigating a challenging landscape after its meteoric rise to fame a few years ago, with its members now forced to compete with all types of online entertainment and the local showbiz scene grappling with broader headwinds, market observers have said. They also said that, despite immense public expectations, the band's human vulnerabilities, paired with a local industry that distinctively lacks the rigorous pre-debut training like that of K-pop idols, created unique challenges.
