Aamir Khan suffers Rs 120 crore loss ahead of Sitare Zameen Par release due to....
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan's film Sitaare Zameen Par is going to be released in theatres on June 20. There is a lot of excitement ahead of the release as we will be seeing Aamir on the big screen after Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022. These days Aamir Khan is very busy promoting his film. Amid this, Aamir is in the headlines for refusing Rs 120 crore because he doesn't want Sitaare Zameen Par film to be released on OTT after eight weeks of the film's release. Sitaare Zameen Par, featuring nine neurodivergent children in central roles, is backed by Aamir Khan Productions. It also stars Genelia Deshmukh in a key role. The film, which explores themes of inclusion, empathy, and perseverance through the story of specially abled children, is set to be released in theatres on Friday, June 20.
As per trade analyst Komal Nahta, Aamir Khan turned down an offer of Rs 120 crore from Amazon Prime Video for the digital rights of the film. He said that Aamir has 'decided to try and change the game' for films releasing in theatres. 'Khan has taken one of the biggest risks so far as its release strategy is concerned. Not because he wanted more, not because he wanted Netflix to bid higher for the film and thereby engage the two OTT platforms in a bidding war so that he could be the ultimate beneficiary, not for any similar reason. He politely said 'no' because he has decided to try and change the game', said the analyst.
He further said, Frankly, 'Amazon Prime's offer was too lucrative for anyone to turn down. But what probably Aamir wants to do is to try and assess whether the absence of a film's availability on any digital platform eight weeks post-release can prod them on to visit the cinemas. If this non-availability of his film on OTT indeed increases footfalls in cinemas, it may not just revive the industry and give box-office business the much-needed boost but it could also start a trend of either producers emulating Aamir Khan's example or at least the industry as a whole revisiting the issue of when to release a film digitally.'
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Aamir Khan's upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, the spiritual sequel to the 2007 critically-acclaimed movie Taare Zameen Par, without any cuts.
The movie presents 10 rising stars Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

Did you know Manoj Bajpayee was first choice for Aamir Khan's role in Rang De Basanti? 'Makers mistook it for a Sholay remake, wanted Esha Deol as Basanti'
Rang De Basanti, a Bollywood classic, almost had a completely different cast. Initially envisioned as a small-budget film, Manoj Bajpayee was considered for Aamir Khan's role. Aamir's interest brought A.R. Rahman and UTV on board, transforming the project. Randeep Hooda declined a role, while some producers misunderstood the script, even suggesting Esha Deol as Basanti. What if Rang De Basanti had looked completely different—with Manoj Bajpayee as DJ and Esha Deol as Basanti? Turns out, it almost did. From major casting what-ifs to industry mix-ups, new revelations shed surprising light on the chaotic journey behind one of Bollywood's most iconic films. On Ravya Sarda's YouTube show, screenwriter Kamlesh Pandey shared that Rang De Basanti was originally planned as a small-budget film, with Manoj Bajpayee cast in the role that eventually went to Aamir Khan . The team had struggled for six years to get the film made, facing multiple rejections. However, the project took a major turn when Aamir showed interest after hearing the script. His involvement not only brought credibility but also helped bring A.R. Rahman on board. Following this, UTV—which had previously declined the film twice—quickly agreed to produce it, thanks to Aamir's star power and influence. Kamlesh Pandey also revealed that many in the industry misunderstood the script of Rang De Basanti in its early days. Some producers mistakenly assumed it was a Sholay remake told from Basanti's perspective. Jokingly playing along, Pandey would mention casting Esha Deol in the role—remarks that were often taken seriously. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo He recalled feeling frustrated at how the script wasn't being taken seriously, with people dismissing its intent and narrative direction. Another casting decision that could have significantly altered Rang De Basanti was Randeep Hooda initially being considered for the role of Karan, based on Bhagat Singh. Hooda later shared on a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra that he turned down the role as he didn't want to play second fiddle to Aamir Khan. He admitted it was a decision he regrets. Hooda also revealed that his stubbornness cost him a role in Rock On!!, which eventually went to Siddharth. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Rang De Basanti featured a stellar ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Siddharth, Soha Ali Khan, R. Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni, Alice Patten, Anupam Kher, Waheeda Rehman , and Kirron Kher.
