ISRAEL ADESANYA will be keeping a close eye on this weekend's eagerly anticipated UFC 319 main event.
The Last Stylebender's old belt will be on the line early on Sunday morning when defending champion Dricus Du Plessis locks horns with the surging Khazmat Chimaev.

Du Plessis has yet to taste defeat inside the octagon since making his debut nearly five years ago and has already banked two title defences.
But the South African slugger is the UNDERDOG going into his clash with Russian wrecking machine Chimaev, who has also run roughshod since making his promotional debut.
Many MMA fans believe this weekend will usher in the Chimaev era at middleweight and be his coronation as one of the faces of the UFC.
Adesanya, 36, was blown away by the Chechen clubber's brutal blowout victory over fellow former champion Robert Whittaker last October.

But he's not ruling out the prospect of the highly unorthodox Du Plessis getting the job done, just as he did in their grudge match last August.
In an exclusive interview SunSport, the Nigerian-born New Zealander said: "I think Khamzat showed me why he's the f***ing animal at 185 with that Rob fight.
'But, DDP [Dricus Du Plessis], finds a way [to win]. He's so stubborn.
'He's got strong willpower and he finds a way.'

Adesanya hasn't set foot inside the octagon since his second-round TKO loss to surging contender Nassourdine Imamov in February.
Defeat to the Frenchman was the fan favourite's third in a row, the previous of which came at the hands of Du Plessis and Sean Strickland.
Israel Adesanya provides major update on UFC return and opens door to two mega fights amid fans' calls for retirement
The two-time 185lbs king faced strong calls to retire after his latest loss, but has well and truly shut down the prospect of hanging up his gloves.
And after having some well-deserved R&R, he's itching to make the walk to the cage again.
Ahead of his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame, Adesanya said: "Oh yeah [the itch has returned].
'I sparred with Kamaru [Usman] in Miami when Volk [Alexander Volkanovski] got his belt back.

'And that was my first sparring back.
"I took some time out to just, you know, chill and let the brain relax.
'And yeah, I just knew straight away. So I've been itchy for a while, bro. I'm ready to go!'

Cyriel Dessers Rangers injury update as 3 others return

The Gers head coach insists the Nigerian's knee injury is not as bad as initially feared. The frontman pulled up during the midweek game against Viktoria Plzen in Champions League qualifying. Last season's top goalscorer was forced off the field in severe pain, with clips of him jarring his knee in the turf going viral online. This led to speculation he'd even caused damage to his ACL. Martin has provided an update while previewing tomorrow's Premier Sports Cup last-16 tie against Alloa Athletic. And the boss insists Dessers will be back in action sooner rather than later, with there even being a possibility of Tuesday's UCL play-off against Club Brugge being enough recovery time for the striker. Read more: Martin said: "Cyriel Dessers' injury was not as bad as we thought; he is still sore, but he will be back in the upcoming weeks. "We need strength and depth. Turning to the bench and having players make an impact is great. "Tomorrow will look different from Tuesday, but we have been preparing, and it's been good learning for me and the coaching staff, and we are well prepared for tomorrow." Meanwhile, there is a boost to Rangers' squad availability heading into Saturday's game. Mikey Moore, Hamza Igamane and Thelo Aasgaard are all ready for selection against the League One opponent.

Itauma told ‘anything other than becoming world champion is a failure' with Brit ‘more impressive than Joshua and Fury'

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DAVID HAYE is more impressed by the talent of Moses Itauma than he has been with any other heavyweight - including Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury. Itauma debuted at 18 and was already being dubbed Britain's answer to a prime Mike Tyson - who became the youngest heavyweight world champion ever at 20. He fell short but Haye - who reigned at cruiserweight and heavyweight - says it is only a matter of time until he has gold around his waist. The Hayemaker retired in 2018 when AJ and Fury were at their brilliant world championship best. But neither British legend has caught his eye as much as 20-year-old KO starlet Itauma. READ MORE IN BOXING Itauma vs Whyte All the details you need as British heavyweights clash in Saudi Haye told SunSport, courtesy of HighBet: "Way more impressed, way more impressed with him than any of the others. "He's the best guy coming through that I've seen. He looks as good as you're gonna get. He looks as good as I've ever seen. "I can't think of another fighter in that few heavyweight fights that has looked as devastating and hasn't shown any chink in the armour. "Everything looks on point, he's got the right mindset. You don't hear about him out partying and all that bulls***. 6 MOSES ITAUMA VS DILLIAN WHYTE: ALL THE DETAILS YOU NEED AHEAD OF HUGE HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT WATCH ITAUMA VS WHYTE LIVE ON DAZN CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS "He was focused on becoming the youngest ever heavyweight champion and he wants to do some crazy stuff in a sport. "Anything other than becoming world heavyweight champion would be a complete failure. I love that. If he wins I will fight him Chisora | No Glove Lost: Itauma vs Whyte fight preview | Sun Sport "I love the fact that he's not in it to be the British champion, the European champion. I'm sure just winning the world title wouldn't be enough. Itauma - who has 10 KO's in his 12 wins - steps up for his biggest test to date on Saturday in Riyadh against Dillian Whyte. And if he takes out ex-WBC title challenger Whyte in dominant fashion - Haye reckons Itauma could be the only man capable of mounting a real threat to Oleksandr Usyk's throne. He said: "You can't even think about Usyk because we don't know if he can beat Dillian. "But, if he smashes Dillian in a couple of rounds, we all got to have that conversation. We all wanna say, is it too soon or is it perfect? "Is he just ready right now? If he gets rid of Dillian in a few rounds, I'd say he's got a shot. He's got a better shot than most. "I'd say the only person who's got a better shot than him would be Derek Chisora because Derek Chisora's already done it once. He's the best guy coming through that I've seen. He looks as good as you're gonna get. He looks as good as I've ever seen. David Haye on Moses Itauma "He's already been in there and pushed the hardest out of any heavyweight. "So if he can get rid of Dillian in a few rounds and not have a life and death, then yeah, cool. Who else is there to beat Usyk?" Whyte comes into the bout as a huge underdog and inactive at the top level - with his most meaningful win coming in 2022 against Jermaine Franklin. He was due to rematch Joshua - who he lost to in 2015 - back in August 2023 but Whyte was pulled out amid a doping breach. He returned an "adverse finding" in his pre-fight drug test - which was later put down to a "contaminated" supplement meaning he served no ban. Whyte continued his career with underwhelming wins over Christian Hammer in Ireland and Ebenezer Tetteh in Gibraltar last year. So Haye - who used to spar Whyte - hailed the Brixton Body Snatcher for taking on red-hot favourite Itauma after a period in the cold. 'It's bordering disrespectful' He said: "Dillian has been massively overlooked here. I think some of the stuff I've heard, it's bordering disrespectful. "People seem to have a short memory about the Joseph Parker victory. "The Chisora victories in epic fights that everyone had a great night of entertainment and after strength of his last two performances, he didn't look that great. "He looked like his best days are behind him and at the start, I thought he was just gonna go through the motions and just assume he'll be good enough. "But seeing the shape he's coming, looking at his body, that looks like a prime Dillian Whyte. "That looks like Dillian Whyte that turned up to fight Chisora because he knew he was in for a battle. "He knew that wasn't going to be nice and he was mentally prepared for a tough, tough battle. "And Moses has all the potential but potentials don't win world titles performances do, proving it against world-class opposition. "So this is his first opportunity to fight a world-class heavyweight who is genuinely coming to win not turning up for a paycheck, he's coming to win. "And Moses, he may have felt that energy a little bit in his career, but he would never have felt it like it's gonna feel on Saturday." 6 David Haye was speaking to SunSport as a brand ambassador for Highbet Credit: PA

Late McEwan strike ends Irish challenge

Heather McEwan poked the ball home from close range as Scotland bounced back from an earlier setback to secure a 3-2 victory over Ireland, ranked two places above them in the world, in the EuroHockey Championships in Germany. The South African-born forward, who plays her hockey in Belgium, reacted quickly when a shot from the top of the circle from Ellie Mackenzie (Surbiton) crashed off the left-hand post and hit the back of Elizabeth Murphy, the Irish goalkeeper. The ball spun across the goal and McEwan was there to make sure and send the Scottish fans in the stands wild. The victory was no more than Scotland, ranked No 15 in the world, Ireland are No 13, deserved. They pressed from the start and sustained that despite the searing heat in Munchengladbach. Ireland have dominated the Tartan Hearts in recent internationals, but Eve Pearson (Bowdon), Scotland's woman of the match, felt the narrow victory was deserved and she added: 'We have proved we can compete with teams above us in the world.' Earlier, the teams were deadlocked at the half-time break, but Roisin Upton slotted following a penalty stroke award after 35 minutes. Coach Chris Duncan's side did not let their heads drop, and they continued to drive forward looking to level. A penalty stroke was awarded for a heavy challenge in the circle with 11 minutes remaining. Dundee-born Olympian Charlotte Watson (Beeston) cooly slotted into the bottom left hand corner and Scotland were on a charge. Ireland, however, broke and Kathryn Mullan was left unmarked on the right side of the circle. She lashed the ball into the net despite Scotland goalkeeper, Jessica Buchanan (Wimbledon), trying to deflect it with her right boot. Back came Scotland, and a minute later they forced a penalty corner, their seventh in the match. Ireland did not register one. Edinburgh-raised Amy Costello (Surbiton), a Paris Olympian, slotted with a deft flick which deceived the Irish goalkeeper to level and Scotland powered forward. Mackenzie's brave run down the centre and then her shot which came off the goalkeeper's left hand post set up the chance and McEwan gratefully accepted after 54 minutes. Scotland then manged the game out for six tense minutes for a historic win and they move off the bottom of Pool B with their first victory of the star-studded tournament.
