He visited food trailer owners on Lever Road and illegal recyclers on R101 Old Pretoria Road in Midrand, where some cooking items, such as pots and gas-stoves, were confiscated.
Tshwaku was accompanied by various departments, including the Johannesburg Metro Police Department's by-law enforcement unit, land invasion unit, citizen relationship and urban management (CRUM), and immigration unit.

Noordwyk Residents Association chairperson Bonginkosi Nhlapo, who was also part of the operation, praised Tshwaku's efforts. 'Just wish there were more arrests of illegal immigrants, and the shutdown of all the street vendors, moving trucks, and food trailers. Maybe, if he was mayor under the current coalition, Johannesburg would have a fighting chance to be cleaned up.'
Nhlapo said more raids of this nature would help improve Midrand, and help it to go back to the suburb it used to be.
JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla confirmed being part of the raid. 'Ours was to accompany the MMC and ensure that our various units enforce by-laws directly related to them.'

Taxi industry under siege by criminals says Santaco
The president of the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco), Motlhabane Tsebe, has said the taxi industry is under siege from criminal elements. Tsebe addressed the media in Johannesburg on Tuesday following the killing of a 27-year-old e-hailing driver at Maponya Mall last week. Four unknown men allegedly killed the driver, torched his car, and injured two other people in the attack. Although many blamed the taxi industry for the violence, Tsebe insisted that criminals were behind the killing. 'We must admit this criminality that is committed in our name. We humbly ask for prayers in the community as we are facing infiltration by criminals as we are cleaning up the industry,' he said. Tsebe stressed that Santaco has a zero-tolerance approach to violence. 'Santaco will immediately expel any operator, driver, or member involved in the attack or any act of violence. This is not just a talk shop; it is a promise. Enough is enough,' he said. He urged communities to report law-breaking taxi operators to the police. 'Violence is a crime and crime has no place in the taxi industry and the South African community,' Tsebe said. Tsebe revealed that Santaco would assist with funeral arrangements for the slain driver. 'I sent my team to speak to the family, to ask them if they would give us that right to take the body from Gauteng to KZN and also to bury the body,' he said. He confirmed that the industry would cover the undertaker's costs. Santaco is planning a day of prayer at Maponya Mall after the funeral. 'We also spoke to Soweto ministries because we need divine intervention in this regard. We are sending a team to the hospital to check on those still recovering, and then after that, we will do a prayer day at Maponya Mall,' Tsebe said. Tsebe noted that the outrage directed at the taxi industry comes as Santaco prepares to test a cashless system for paying taxi fares. Family tragedy in KZN as man killed in violent domestic attack
A violent domestic dispute in KwaMpande, Pietermaritzburg, has left a community reeling after 61-year-old Bongani Enoch Nzimande was fatally assaulted with a steel pipe, allegedly by a close relative. According to The Witness, the confrontation, said to have started over the 26-year-old relative sleeping in Nzimande's bedroom, escalated into what family members have described as a shocking and senseless act of violence. Scene of the attack When The Witness visited the home yesterday, signs of the brutal attack were still visible. Fresh soil-covered blood stains were outside the outdoor bedroom where the incident is alleged to have taken place. A visibly shaken family member recalled the horror. 'It just can't be. How could he? We cannot believe that he could have done something so terrible,' she said. She added that the family was already mourning the death of a sister who passed away in February. 'We've just buried our sister … now it's him. When is the family catching a break? This is traumatising. My brother was our only hope, the only man still alive among our siblings.' Aftermath and memories Describing the moments after the attack, she said: 'We found my brother lying on the ground in the yard. The [relative] had already fled the scene. We rushed him to Taylors Halt Clinic, but he sadly died on Sunday. To this day, we still don't know what truly sparked the argument.' She remembered Nzimande as a cheerful man who enjoyed telling jokes. His injuries, she said, were severe. 'We are still in shock. The brutality of it is what's hardest to accept. We want justice to be served.' A community resident, who did not wish to be named for safety reasons, said the killing has shaken the area. 'We are deeply saddened by what has happened. 'This incident is beyond tragic, and our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. It's just horrific and heartbreaking,' he said. uMgungundlovu SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sifiso Gwala confirmed that the suspect was arrested on Sunday and is expected to appear in court today. The court outcome was not yet known by the time of publishing. Breaking news at your fingertips… Follow Caxton Network News on Facebook and join our WhatsApp channel. Nuus wat saakmaak. Brazil asks Meta to remove chatbots that 'eroticize' children
Brazil's government has asked US technology giant Meta to rid its platforms of chatbots that mimic children and can make sexually suggestive remarks, the attorney general's office (AGU) announced Monday. Users of Meta's platforms, which include Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, can create and customize such bots using the company's generative artificial intelligence, AI Studio. The AGU said in a statement that Meta must "immediately" remove "artificial intelligence robots that simulate profiles with childlike language and appearance and are allowed to engage in sexually explicit dialogue." It denounced the "proliferation" of such bots in what it called an "extrajudicial notice" sent to Meta last week, adding that they "promote the eroticization of children." The document cited several examples of sexually charged conversations with bots pretending to be minors. The AGU's request does not include sanctions, but the agency said it had reminded Meta that online platforms in Brazil must take down illicit content created by their users, even without a court order. It comes at a time of outrage in the South American nation over a case of alleged child sexual exploitation by Hytalo Santos, a well-known influencer who posted content on Instagram featuring partially naked minors taking part in suggestive dances. Santos was arrested last week as part of an investigation into "exposure with sexual connotations" to adolescents, and his Instagram account is no longer available.
