Louis Tomlinson admits being 'very proud' of Harry Styles in rare comment
Louis Tomlinson has opened up about his former bandmate Harry Styles, admitting he couldn't be prouder of the global mega-star for 'taking over the world' Louis Tomlinson has revealed he's "very proud" of his former bandmate Harry Styles. The two found fame as one-fifth of One Direction back in 2010, after former Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger spearheaded the decision to create the band on The X Factor. Despite finishing the show in third place, the band, consisting of Louis, 33, Harry, 31, Niall Horan, 31, Zayn Malik, 32, and the late Liam Payne, 31, they went on to find fame across the globe and became one of the biggest selling boybands of all time. For five years, the band toured the globe, racked up countless Number 1 records and dozens of awards before making the decision to start a hiatus. However, just one year later, it emerged that their hiatus had turned into a permanent split. But since then, all five members have gone on to carve out successful solo careers. Now, Doncaster-born Louis has silenced speculation that he has become distant from his bandmates as he opened up about his bond with Cheshire's Harry. Speaking on a new podcast, he said he's in regular contact. "I do still know him," he said on the Yoto Daily Soccer Aid Special podcast. Louis went on to say: "I used to be in a band with him, we're not in a band anymore so that's what happens. But yeah, still good friends with him. "Still very, very proud of him, taking over the world, definitely." Fans have since reacted to the sweet admission, with one writing: "Oh God, that's so cute." A second went on to add: "My heart just exploded." "I'm sobbing so f***ng hard. Nobody speak to me. This is the best day ever," exclaimed a third. Meanwhile, a fourth added: "Today just became the best day of my life." Since launching their solo careers, Louis has gone on to release two studio albums, Walls, which charted at Number Four in 2020, as well as Faith in the Future, which saw him take Number One in November 2022. Elsewhere, Harry's debut album charted at Number One, with his second taking the second spot, and his third solo album, Harry's House, hitting the top spot across the globe. He's also bagged an impressive six BRIT Awards and three solo Grammy Awards – despite being nominated nine times. Louis' comments come just days before he'll walk out onto the pitch at Old Trafford as part of Soccer Aid for UNICEF. The musician will play alongside the likes of Tom Grennan, Roman Kemp, Toni Duggan, Jill Scott, Alex Brooker, Angryginge and James Nelson-Joyce. Speaking about taking part in the match, Louis told TV Week: "It's the only real opportunity you get to play in a football game of that magnitude if you're not a professional footballer. So it's very exciting for a football fan, and coupled with all the good that the charity has done over the past two decades, it's remarkable really." But there's one moment that sticks out in Louis's head, playing against Niall in the 2016 game. He said: "I played against my One Direction bandmate Niall Horan in 2016. I'm the kind of guy who will rub it in your face when I win. So I kind of enjoyed having that over Niall for a couple of years!" Louis' younger sisters, twins Daisy and Phoebe, will be on hand to offer their support in the stands. Speaking previously to the Mirror, Phoebe, said: "Obviously, with Louis playing, I've only attended once, but it was really fun. Super excited, Louis playing just makes it more interesting and a bit more funny as well." Daisy commented: "I wouldn't say I feel as nervous seeing him play football than sing but I probably should. He sings more than he plays football but I heard he's been putting in the graft in training so I shouldn't feel too nervous on the day." The match takes place on Sunday 15th of June at Old Trafford, Manchester, and will air on ITV1 and ITVX.

Major Hollywood star emerges as shock favourite for huge James Bond role amid speculation over who will be the next 007 after Amazon's takeover
A shock contender has emerged as the bookies' favourite to play the villain in the highly-anticipated next instalment of James Bond. Film-lovers have been patiently waiting to find out when the new 007 movie will be released since Daniel Craig finished his five film stint as the British spy with No Time To Die. The 2021 movie was the last spearheaded by Bond producer of 30 years Barbara Broccoli and her brother Michael G. Wilson after Amazon took over 'creative control' of the much-loved franchise. The company are said to be fast-tracking the new film, with Hollywood producers David Heyman and Amy Pascal hired to bring in the new era of Bond. Despite no official announcements being made, speculation about the potential cast for the next movie has been heating up in recent weeks. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the British fan favourites Aaron-Taylor Johnson and Henry Cavill have been linked to the role, while The White Lotus actor Theo James emerged as the latest bookies' favourite last month. Now, betting companies have released their odds for the next villain - with one unexpected household name topping the list. The favourite is none other than Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy, 49, who sits at the top of OLBG's odds at 9/2. The Irish actor - best known for playing Thomas Shelby - had previously been touted for the part of Bond but played down speculation, telling Deadline: 'I think I'm a bit old for that.' Also in the running for the part are American actor Paul Giamatti (11/2), The Boogeyman star David Dastmalchian (13/2), and unlikely contender Zendaya (7/1). Despite 'usually playing the good guy' in her previous roles, the female actress told Elle in 2023 that she's ready to enter her villainous era. 'I would love to play a villain of sorts,' the 28-year-old said. 'Tap into the evil, supervillain vibes. Whatever that manifests in, I don't think necessarily in a superhero sense, I just mean in like an emotional sense. 'I feel like I usually play the good guy, so I'd like to play the bad guy.' Cillian Murphy remains the strong favourite for the role, with Betting Expert Jake Ashton backing the Irish star too. 'The villain role in the Bond movies is just as iconic as Bond himself,' he said. 'With Cillian Murphy at the height of his powers and trusted by major directors, he's a natural favourite.' No Time To Die saw Oscar winner Rami Malek star as its lead antagonist Lyutsifer Safin, a terrorist chief and scientist driven by a desire to dismantle the criminal group SPECTRE. Before him A-lister Christoph Waltz starred as the villain in Spectre and Javier Bardem played Raoul Silva in Skyfall, an antagonist described as 'up there with the great' Bond baddies. After Daniel Craig's James Bond died at the end of No Time To Die, speculation has been rife as to how the next film will begin. As The Daily Mail reported, the plan is for the new Bond to be a 'straight up' reboot. There is reportedly set to be no explanation of how the special agent is still alive, no multiverse of Bonds and no attempt to go back to the 1960s for a vintage Bond. Barbara Broccoli's choice for Bond was thought to be Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was once favourite for the role, but Heyman and Pascal are likely to want to choose their own 007. Theo James currently sits at favourite for the part at 3/1, ahead of Superman actor Cavill (3/1), Taylor-Johnson (7/2) and Jack Lowden (12/1) from Mary Queen of Scots. Theo has impressed while playing rogue, morally ambiguous characters somewhat similar to Bond in both The White Lotus and Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen. Theo had been one of the frontrunners for the role a couple of years ago but was bumped down odds lists after an interview in The Guardian in 2024. He told the publication: 'Everyone's interested in playing Bond because it's a big part of British cultural identity, but that probably wouldn't be me. 'I do think there are better people for that job. And honestly it would be terrifiyng... you're opening Pandora's Box.' Amazon bosses are currently said to be considering locations in which to set the much-anticipated new film, which experts predicted is likely to be released at the end of next year or in 2027. Due to a filming ban being imposed in Central London next year, new locations are reportedly being considered - with Liverpool a frontrunner, according to The Sun. An insider told the publication: 'This will no doubt irk Bond purists who already fear Amazon taking over the 007 franchise may lead to them making big changes. 'But Liverpool is a well-known alternative to London for film-makers. 'It has appeared in everything from The Batman to Captain America and Harry Potter movies, doubling up as international cities.' The source added that it doesn't necessarily mean the story will be set in Liverpool - though eagle-eyed Merseysiders will no doubt spot their city centre in the background.

British teenage star Tiah Ayton opens up on embracing Katie Taylor comparisons and the bold social media message she sent to Eddie Hearn ahead of her professional debut
Tiah Ayton has been touted as British boxing's next big thing, and the comparisons to Irish icon Katie Taylor aren't just based on talent. Just like Taylor, Ayton took her shot by messaging promoter Eddie Hearn on Instagram, long before she was signed by Matchroom. Now, after years of waiting, the teenage prodigy is finally getting her chance - making her debut on June 21 after signing a multi-year deal with the promotional company. 'I literally messaged Eddie and said, "One day, can you sign me?"' Ayton laughs during her interview with Mail Sport. 'He never got back to me… but now I'm signed with him.' The full-circle moment came after Hearn watched her spar with former featherweight world champion Skye Nicolson. The Matchroom promoter tagged Ayton in a picture on Instagram, causing her message to resurface in their chat. 'He tagged me and saw the old message. It was funny. From me just asking him to sign me to now being signed.' The 18-year-old will make her highly anticipated professional debut on June 21 in Birmingham, stepping into the ring for the first time without a head guard - something she admits will be a new experience. 'I haven't sparred without one yet,' she says. 'But I'll have too much adrenaline to feel the punches anyway, so I'll be fine. I'm looking forward to it.' Ayton's journey to this moment has been anything but conventional. Starting out in kickboxing at just six years old, thanks to a childhood rivalry with her sister, she racked up over 300 fights before the age of 12. From there, she transitioned into Muay Thai, MMA, and eventually, boxing - admitting it was hard to stop herself from kicking during her first couple of sessions. 'At first it was hard,' she says of the switch. 'I kept thinking about kicking people when I was sparring. I had to tell myself, 'Tiah, this is boxing now—just punches.' But once I got into it, I started to love it.' It's not just Ayton's raw talent that's turning heads, it's her mindset. Undefeated as an amateur and with only three losses across all her combat sport ventures (the last one coming at age eight), she thrives under pressure. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Matchroom Boxing (@matchroomboxing) View this post on Instagram A post shared by tiah-mai (@tiahayton) 'I've always had pressure on me,' she says. 'Everyone's always thinking, "When's Tiah going to lose?" But I think only great people have pressure. I thrive off it.' To Ayton, the Katie Taylor comparisons aren't just hype, she embraces them. 'I like being compared to her. If I do half of what she's done, I'd be happy. She's amazing for women's boxing, and she's proved we can box just as well.' Her goals are crystal clear: she wants to fight at Madison Square Garden and headline at Ashton Gate in her hometown of Bristol. The 18-year-old is also aiming for undisputed world champion status and hopes to become a multi-weight titleholder. Off the canvas, Ayton enjoys downtime with her family, walking her Dogue de Bordeaux, and watching anime - something she plans to immortalise with a full tattoo sleeve. 'I guess that might surprise people,' she says, laughing. 'But I've got anime tattoos already, so I'm committed!' But at the heart of it all, Ayton is driven by a love for performing. 'I want fans to be entertained. I want them to enjoy watching me fight and enjoy the journey. I'm only young, I'll be around a long time.' That journey starts next weekend in Birmingham. And if her trajectory mirrors anything like Katie Taylor's, boxing fans better buckle up.
