AN abandoned stadium which once hosted pop icon Michael Jackson is in line for a multi-million-pound revamp.
And it could end up being one of the grounds used for UEFA Euro 2032.

The tournament is set to take place in seven years, with

and
Turkey
sharing the host rights.
The Stadio Olimpico and San Siro are dead certs to stage matches during the competition.
But an abandoned ground built in the 1950s could also host games if a proposed renovation plan gets the green light.
The Stadio Flaminio on the outskirts of Rome is finally set to be renovated nearly
20 YEARS
after proposals were first put forward.

The ground, which was built ahead of the 1960 Olympics, has become dilapidated in recent years and is currently full of overgrown grass and bushes.
The Flaminio's current state is a far cry from when it was in its pomp and hosted the likes of music icons David Bowie, MJ and The Rolling Stones.
It's not that long ago since the ground was regularly used.
From the year 2000 to 2011, it was the home of the Italian national rugby team and hosted a slew of Six Nations games in front of 30,000 spectators.

The multi-million-pound plans to renovate the Stadio Flaminio will result in the ground becoming the new home of Serie A giants
The renovation is expected to cost a whopping £334million (€391m).
Abandoned EFL stadium left to rot with pitch covered in weeds just five years after hosting final match
Previous plans to renovate the stadium fell flat on their face due to archaeological constraints preventing additional facilities from being built in the surrounding areas.
Developers, however, plan to get around that hurdle with a three-hour "restricted traffic zone" ahead of kick-off and the commencement of other events.

Lions captain Dan Sheehan's relationship with sports star girlfriend

Dan Sheehan has been named British and Irish Lions captain for their opening Tour game in Australia this weekend. Lions skipper Maro Itoje has been stood down for Saturday's clash against Western Force so hooker Dan Sheehan leads the team at Optus Stadium, having captained Ireland for the first time against Wales in this year's Six Nations. Sheehan is one of five starters who will make their Lions debuts with his Ireland team-mates Garry Ringrose, James Lowe, Joe McCarthy and Josh van der Flier completing the list. There are two survivors from the side that lost to Argentina in Dublin last Friday in Sione Tuipulotu and Tadhg Beirne, although on this occasion they have been switched to inside centre and blindside flanker respectively. 'Dan Sheehan gets the opportunity to lead the side against Western Force, which is a great honour for him and his family – so congratulations to Dan as he captains the side on his Lions debut,' Itoje said. 'We know the quality and experience the Force have and the opportunity to play against the Lions always brings out special performances from the Super Rugby sides, so we expect them to be at their best.' Cheering Sheehan on this weekend will be his partner Katherine Egan: Sheehan was born on 17 September 1998, making him 26 years old. He is one of four siblings, with a brother named Bobby and two sisters, Emma and Susie. Their parents, Sinead and Barry, are frequently spotted cheering on Sheehan from the stands, both at home and overseas. Originally hailing from Dublin, he spent three years residing in Romania due to his father's work relocation to Bucharest. Both Sheehan and his brother Bobby were educated at the American International School. Although rugby wasn't on offer, Dan kept himself occupied with football, softball and swimming. Upon their return to Ireland, the brothers enrolled at Clongowes Wood College while their parents were working in Poland. Sheehan later pursued his studies at Trinity College Dublin, where he continued his passion for rugby. Rugby runs in the family as his father Barry represented UCD during the 1980s and 1990s, and his grandfather Denis played for Leinster. Sheehan signed his first professional contract with Leinster in June 2020, making his debut later that year in October. He recently extended his tenure with Leinster and the IRFU for another two years, signing on the dotted line on 15 April 2024. His first appearance for Ireland was in a Six Nations match against Italy in February 2022. In the final match of the 2022 Six Nations, he scored a try and bagged the player-of-the-match award in Ireland's 26–5 triumph over Scotland, securing Ireland's 12th triple crown. During a clash with England on 18 March 2023, his two tries clinched the 2023 Six Nations title and Ireland's fourth ever Grand Slam. In July 2024, Sheehan suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during Ireland's first test match on their summer tour of South Africa. After a six-month recovery period, he returned to the pitch in January 2025. Ahead of their Six Nations match against Wales in February 2025, Sheehan was named captain of Ireland. Off the pitch, Sheehan has been in a long-term relationship with fellow athlete Katherine Egan. Katherine is a medical student at UCD and also represents her university's ladies' hockey team. While the couple have kept their romance under wraps, they do share glimpses of their life together on social media. Katherine made her debut on Dan's Instagram feed back in October 2017, when they attended his school's debs. Over the years, they've jetted off to stunning locations like Bali, Indonesia and Santorini. Katherine is frequently spotted cheering Dan on from the stands.
