UAE's Crypto Adoption Surges by 42%: Embrace Digital Eidiya This Ramadan

Mid East Info26-03-2025

Dubai, UAE: What if your Eidiya this year didn't just disappear into a toy store run or a snack splurge—but grew in value over time?
As the UAE continues to lead the MENA region in cryptocurrency adoption, a fresh twist on a cherished tradition is emerging digital Eidiya. Rooted in generosity and symbolic of blessings and prosperity, Eidiya—the tradition of gifting money to younger family members during Eid—is being reimagined for the digital era.
And there's never been a better time to consider it.
Recent figures show that downloads of the top 49 crypto apps in the UAE surged to 15 million in 2024, marking a 41% year-on-year increase. In January 2025 alone, the country recorded 3.55 million crypto app installations, highlighting a clear appetite for digital assets. With user penetration expected to hit 39.1% by the end of 2025, crypto is no longer a fringe trend—it's becoming a household norm.
So, what if, instead of the usual cash envelope, you gifted your niece a fraction of Bitcoin, or set up a savings plan in Ethereum for your nephew? A thoughtful, forward-looking gesture that celebrates tradition and introduces your loved ones to the digital economy.
'The UAE's proactive regulatory environment has positioned it as a global leader in digital finance,' said Nadeem Ladki, Global Head of Bitpanda Technology Solutions . 'Gifting digital assets this Eid not only honors tradition but also empowers recipients with a stake in the burgeoning digital economy. In fact, if you had gifted your loved ones 100 AED of BTC for Eid last year, it would now be worth 124 AED, reflecting a 24% growth overall, highlighting the potential of digital assets as a meaningful and forward-thinking gift.'
This movement is backed by a strong foundation. The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) continues to expand its recognized crypto tokens list, and the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) has rolled out the world's first DLT Foundations Framework, enabling legal structures for blockchain-based organizations. On top of that, the Central Bank of the UAE recently approved AE Coin, the country's first dirham-pegged stablecoin, unlocking faster and more affordable digital transactions.
The numbers speak for themselves. In 2024 alone, the UAE attracted over $30 billion in crypto investments, securing its spot among the top 10 countries globally for crypto adoption. The MENA region clinched 7.5% of the world's total crypto transaction volume, reflecting its fast-growing role in the global digital finance arena. Platforms like Bitpanda are making it easier than ever to explore this space.
This Ramadan, why not turn a heartfelt gesture into a long-term opportunity?
Start a crypto savings plan for a sibling, gift a slice of gold token to a parent, or help a cousin begin their investment journey. From Bitcoin to Ethereum—and even precious metals—there's a digital asset out there with their name on it. After all, what could be a more modern form of barakah than the gift of financial growth?
This Eid, give the gift that could keep on giving.

Egypt celebrates Eid al-Adha amid tightened security measures

Egypt celebrates Eid al-Adha amid tightened security measures CAIRO - 6 June 2025: Egyptians are celebrating the joyous first day of Eid al-Adha on Friday, with scenes of happiness spreading across the country. To ensure that festivities unfold in a safe and peaceful atmosphere, the government has implemented extensive security measures nationwide. The Ministry of Interior has launched a comprehensive security plan aimed at safeguarding public safety and ensuring that citizens can enjoy the holiday without disruptions. Special focus has been placed on areas that traditionally attract large crowds during Eid, such as public parks, cinemas, and shopping centers. From the early hours of the morning, a significant security presence has been deployed across main streets and public squares. Police officers have been stationed in large numbers to maintain order, ease traffic flow, and prevent any disturbances to the public peace. In anticipation of increased footfall along the Nile banks and riverboats, the Water Police have stepped up patrols and inspections to enforce safety protocols. These measures are intended to prevent overcrowding and ensure compliance with boat capacity limits, thereby protecting citizens and averting potential accidents. Similarly, the Tourism Police have intensified their presence at archaeological and historical sites popular with both locals and tourists. Their role includes managing crowd flow, securing the sites, and offering emergency support if needed. The Transportation Police have raised their alert level to the maximum, particularly in train stations, metro lines, and public transportation hubs, to manage the increased movement of travelers and maintain safety standards. On the economic front, the Supply Police have launched widespread market inspections to monitor prices and combat monopolistic practices or unjustified price hikes, especially given the surge in demand during the holiday. These campaigns are conducted in coordination with relevant regulatory bodies to maintain stability in the market and safeguard citizens' access to essential goods. Supporting these efforts is the 'We Are All One' initiative, a collaboration between the Ministry of Interior and several retail chains and suppliers, which continues to provide discounted food items through outlets spread across all governorates. This initiative has played a key role in easing financial burdens on citizens and spreading a sense of communal satisfaction. The Ministry of Interior's nationwide security plan encompasses all sectors, aiming to uphold public order, prevent crime, and ensure the full protection of citizens throughout the Eid festivities. The plan includes the deployment of rapid response units, mobile patrols, and reinforced checkpoints at strategic and high-traffic locations. Female police officers have also been deployed in densely populated areas to enhance security and provide assistance to women and children when necessary. Traffic police have intensified monitoring on highways and major roads, deploying rapid-response units to address breakdowns and assist travelers, ensuring smooth transportation throughout the holiday period. Security officials across various governorates are personally overseeing the implementation of these measures through on-site inspections. Officers have been instructed to remain vigilant, fully prepared, and committed to courteous and supportive engagement with the public, reinforcing the image of a police force in service to the people. Special attention is also being given to securing Eid prayer sites, bustling marketplaces, and recreational areas expected to draw large crowds. All divisions of the Ministry of Interior are operating at full capacity to safeguard Eid al-Adha celebrations, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to providing a secure, stable, and reassuring environment for all Egyptians during these blessed days.
