Commanders suffer major blow before start of 2025 season as star is carted off field in offseason training
Washington Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown was carted off the field during the team's mandatory mini camp on Wednesday.
Brown, one of the team's integral offensive players, went to the ground to make a catch during a 7-on-7 period and stayed on he turf for a few extra moments.
After slowly walking to the sideline, he went down and needed to be taken away to be looked at on a cart, with a towel over Brown's head.
There was no immediate diagnosis for Brown, with less than three months until the Washington opens the NFL season against the New York Giants on Sept. 7.
Brown was slated to enter training camp as the team's No 3 wide receiver behind Terry McLaurin and the newly acquired Deebo Samuel.
Commanders fans have gotten behind Brown since he caught the Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary last October to defeat the Chicago Bears in one of the definitive moments of last year.
Brown also reportedly threw his helmet on his way to the sideline in frustration over the injury.
The Commanders are coming off their best season in over 30 years after reaching the NFC Championship Game.
Washington looks prepped for a similar run after retain most of the major players from the team that made it to the final four left standing last season.
One of them was Brown, as a big target across the middle, when McLaurin and Samuel will be demanding a ton of attention.
The Commanders are hoping for the best when it comes to Brown after Wednesday's setback, as losing him for the season would be a major blow.

'I don't like having "yes" people around me. I just want somebody to tell me the truth, tell me what's going on, what they see. 'If I start swaying from being Brooks Koepka, then I want someone to call me out on it, and he did a helluva job on it.' Koepka added: 'I would say from the first weekend in April until about last week, you didn't want to be around me. It drove me nuts. It ate at me. 'I haven't been happy. It's been very irritating. I had to apologise to everybody. I wouldn't have wanted to be around me.'

Angry New York Knicks star Josh Hart has blasted Tom Thibodeau's critics for 'talking trash' about the head coach in the wake of his shock firing. Thibodeau was controversially axed by the Knicks last week after six years in charge, despite guiding them to a first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2000 less than a month ago. While many believe the decision was unjust after he made significant progress this year, reports have emerged suggesting the 67-year-old paid the price for making changes to his starting lineup and bench too late on in the season. 'I think we had a really good year. I think it didn't end how we wanted it to end,' he admitted about their Eastern Conference Finals loss to the Indiana Pacers. 'Sometimes when the season doesn't end how you want it, or how you expected it to, there's always changes. Whether that's coaches, players. Thibs was my sixth coach in eight years. 'The NBA coaching profession is tough. Whenever you don't finish how you wanted or expected, there's always gonna be changes. That one is a tough one. I just think there should be nothing but praise for him and his time in New York.' Brunson, meanwhile, stressed how grateful he is to Thibodeau for helping him become one of the most talented offensive players in the NBA today, having known each other since his dad Rick played for the Knicks while Tom was serving as an assistant coach. 'This is my first firing,' the two-time NBA All-Star point guard added. 'Obviously, I've known him my entire life. But I remember having conversations and moments with him in eighth grade when we moved to Chicago and just to see where we are now, he helped me become a two-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA. 'The things he's done for me, individually, I'm so grateful for. Just because he had the confidence in me that I knew I had, but like it's great to see someone push it, push me to be better. Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck earns Hart, Vezina trophies
June 13 - Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck captured both the NHL's Hart and Vezina trophies for his brilliance during the 2024-25 campaign. The awards were announced on Thursday prior to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final at the league's award show. The Professional Hockey Writers' Association awards the Hart Trophy to the NHL player deemed most valuable to his team during the regular season. The Vezina Trophy goes to the top goalie. Hellebuyck, a Michigan native, became the first goalkeeper to earn the Hart Trophy since the Montreal Canadiens' Carey Price in 2014-15. Moreover, he is just the fifth goalie to haul in the Vezina and Hart in the same year, joining Price, Jose Theodore (2001-02 Canadiens), Dominik Hasek (1996-97, 1997-98 Buffalo Sabres) and Jacques Plante (1961-62 Canadiens). "Looking back, I'll probably picture this day as one of the greatest of my career," Hellebuyck said of receiving the two trophies. Hellebuyck was a prohibitive favorite to win the Vezina. He earned 31 of 32 first-place votes, finishing well ahead of Tampa Bay's Andrei Vasilevskiy. It was the 32-year old's third Vezina -- he also earned the award in 2019-20 and 2023-24. The Hart voting was much closer, as Hellebuyck received 1,346 votes to Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl's 1,209. Hellebuyck led Winnipeg to the Presidents' Trophy with the most points in the league (116). He amassed a league-high 47 wins and eight shutouts and paced qualified goalies in goals-against average (2.00) while posting the second-best save percentage (.925). However, Hellebuyck struggled in the playoffs, recording a 6-7 record, a 3.08 GAA and a .866 save percentage. Winnipeg was ousted by the Dallas Stars in the second round. --Field Level Media
