Qatar welcomes ILO upgrading Palestine to 'non-member observer' status
DOHA: The State of Qatar has welcomed the announcement by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to upgrade Palestine's status from a 'liberation movement' to a 'non-member observer' state.
The State of Qatar said that voting to adopt this decision during the 113th session of the International Labour Conference is an international recognition of the justice of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the announcement aligns with the United Nations General Assembly resolution supporting Palestine's right to full membership in the international organisation. It also reiterated Qatar's call for the implementation of this resolution to strengthen Palestine's position within the UN system.
The ministry further reaffirmed Qatar's consistent and unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Tens of thousands perform Eid Al Adha prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: Tens of thousands of worshippers performed Eid Al Adha prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque this morning. The chants of 'Allahu Akbar' (God is Great) were heard, heralding the first day of Eid, amidst large crowds of worshippers, despite restrictions imposed by the occupation and its settlers. Meanwhile, Israeli settlers engaged in provocative actions against worshippers leaving Al Aqsa Mosque, singing and chanting. They positioned themselves on Al-Mujahideen Street between Bab Al-Hitta and Bab Al-Asbat. The mosque's courtyards were filled with worshippers coming from Jerusalem and across the Palestinian territories, amid a distinct spiritual atmosphere, despite the restrictions and measures imposed by the Israeli authorities at the entrances to the Old City and the gates of the mosque. Coinciding with Eid Al Adha, the Israeli occupation authorities continue to impose tight security measures in Jerusalem and around Al Aqsa Mosque, preventing thousands from entering.

Hezbollah chief meets Iran's top diplomat amid Israeli drone activity
dpa Beirut Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem met on Wednesday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, amid heavy Israeli drone activity over Beirut. The meeting, also attended by Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, focused on regional developments and bilateral ties, according to a statement from Hezbollah's media relations office. The announcement, which did not disclose the location of the meeting, coincided with sightings of Israeli drone over the Lebanese capital across areas considered strongholds of Hezbollah. The drone activity underscored the ongoing tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, which have sharply escalated since the outbreak of the Gaza war. Qassem has largely limited his appearances to video messages since the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last year. He is believed to have avoided public events in Beirut due to the threat of Israeli strikes. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the strategic alliance between Hezbollah and Iran, the Hezbollah statement said. Araghchi emphasized Tehran's commitment to supporting Lebanon in 'economic, political, and social matters,' while stressing 'mutual respect and strengthened cooperation' between the two countries. The Hezbollah leader, on his part, thanked Iran for its continued support, praising what he called Tehran's 'positive role in the region,' particularly in backing the Palestinian resistance during the ongoing Gaza conflict.
