Paulo Costa ripped Khamzat Chimaev's title-winning performance at UFC 319. Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) dominated and out-grappled Dricus Du Plessis (23-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) to claim the middleweight title in Saturday's headliner at United Center in Chicago. Chimaev was all over Du Plessis just seconds into the fight, landing 12 takedowns with more than 21 minutes of control time. Fans were getting uneasy during several moments of the fight, showering Chimaev with boos as he held Du Plessis on the ground. Costa called his performance boring. "This is a show. This is entertainment," Costa said on "The Ariel Helwani Show." "This kind of fight, and fighter, has a lot of potential to kill this business." Costa (15-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) snapped his two-fight losing skid by defeating Roman Kopylov at UFC 318 in June and is eager for his shot at Chimaev. He admits he did not expect UFC CEO Dana White to praise Chimaev for his performance. "This surprised me also because at the press conference after the fight, Dana White was (saying), 'OK, he did amazing,'" Costa said "No, he didn't, man. He did horrible. This is horrible for the (viewers). This is not good. I know you make a deal with Paramount and CBS, but people will watch another show, something else. They will not watch these guys hugging each other for 25 minutes. So, this is not good for our sport."

Emmy-Winning Journalist Claims CBS Forced Her Out For Being White In DEI Push
A former long-time Boston television anchor is suing CBS and its parent company, Paramount Global, claiming that she was forced out of her job to make way for the media giant's DEI quotas. Katherine Merrill Dunham, better known to viewers as Kate Merrill, claims network executives were worried that WBZ-TV was becoming 'too white,' and chose to sideline her after more than two decades as an anchor at the station, according to court documents. The Emmy Award–winning broadcaster filed her legal complaint against CBS earlier this month, saying she was demoted, humiliated in front of colleagues, and eventually pressured to resign – all under the guise of CBS's 'DEI agenda.' According to the lawsuit, Merrill's troubles escalated when a black co-worker, meteorologist Jason Mikell, allegedly made a sexually charged remark about her on-air but faced no consequences. When Merrill raised concerns, she was hit with accusations of 'racial bias' from Mikell and another anchor. Paramount would go on to later discipline her for so-called 'microaggressions' and ordered her to undergo 'unconscious bias training,' per The New York Post. The following day, Merrill claimed the company leaders at her news station announced her demotion. Merrill insists she was the victim of malicious and false allegations. 'WBZ-TV exploited such policies and took career-ending action against Ms. Merrill to advance a DEI agenda,' her filing states. She also says minority colleagues were spared discipline for serious misconduct while she was labeled a racist and pushed out. CBS has had a contentious past connected to racially motivated practices. The lawsuit goes on to reference a past report alleging that former CBS News President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews promoted minority employees while pushing white journalists to the sidelines. Ciprian-Matthews allegedly became the focus of a six-month internal investigation by Paramount Global's human resources department over claims of biased hiring and workplace practices. She has since stepped down from her role as CBS News President. Paramount itself quietly scrapped its DEI programs earlier this year after mounting public backlash and regulatory pressure from the Trump administration. Merrill's contract runs until June 2025, during which time he is reportedly unable to work at another station. She is seeking damages for lost wages and harm to her reputation, claiming she has been financially and professionally devastated after more than 20 years dedicated to Boston's breaking news. In the decades since he retired, Simms has been working in broadcast media and for many years was part of CBS' No. 1 broadcast team alongside the legendary Jim Nantz. But Simms' contract at CBS expired after the 2023 season and last year he was working outside of the national sports spotlight. However, for the 2025 season he'll have a brand new job covering the sport he loves. The new job According to Newsday, Simms has been tabbed to work with NBC Sports covering college football games this fall. Per the report, he'll be serving as an analyst for three to-be-determined Big Ten football games on NBC's Peacock streaming service. Simms has both history and connections with NBC Sports. He previously worked for the network in the mid-1990s before embarking on his multi-decade run at CBS. His eldest son, Chris Simms, is currently one of the network's top analysts and has served as Mike Florio's co-host on ProFootballTalk Live. A mixed bag on commentary Simms isn't exactly beloved for some of his analysis though as he sometimes comes across as ignorant on the players he talks about. The most recent case that got on peoples' nerves was his coverage of New York Jets quarterback Brady Cook during Saturday's preseason game against the Giants. Simms remarked that Cook didn't have any help and couldn't find much success while he was playing at Missouri, which got a number of college football fans pissed off at him: "You'd think some of these guys should know something about college football but they don't," one user on X remarked. "Yes, because back-to-back, 10-win seasons and 2 bowl victories screams no talent. Sheezh!" wrote another. "Routinely amazed how awful some CFB takes are from NFLers," a third said. "Mizzou had by far the best offensive line in the SEC and also had a great receiving corps. Their weaknesses on offense were exclusively the QB and RB play." You can't please everybody and judging by this reaction, Simms might find his way under the skins of college football fans in the months to come too.
