HC asks digital platforms to remove video clips defaming girl

However in a malicious misuse of digital media, unknown third parties unlawfully appropriated the original footage and manipulated it into a vulgar and demeaning content. These distorted clips containing superimposed voiceovers, lewd commentary, and mocking background music, were widely disseminated through digital platforms. The tone and tenor of the original remarks were twisted beyond recognition, and the minor girl was portrayed in a humiliating manner.
'Image tarnished'
As a result, she experienced severe psychological distress, including episodes of anxiety, emotional breakdown, and social withdrawal. It tarnishes her image but also poses a serious risk to her developmental and psychological stability, the petition added. Though a complaint was lodged with the police, no effective remedial or punitive measures have yet been taken by the law enforcement agencies, the petition said.

After NGT order, power supply to 30 illegal dyeing units in Ghaziabad snapped
After the National Green Tribunal (NGT) took serious note of illegal dyeing units operating in Ghaziabad's Loni area, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) disconnected electricity supply to 30 such units, with the remaining seven to be cut off soon. The order, passed on August 5 by NGT chairperson justice Prakash Shrivastava, Justice Sudhir Agarwal, and expert member A Senthil Vel, followed a petition filed by the Residents Welfare Association of Prem Nagar, Loni. The Tribunal ordered inspection of 286 industrial units under Loni Nagar Palika. 'The district magistrate, Ghaziabad, will ensure that a proper time-bound action plan is prepared to prevent the discharge of industrial effluent and untreated sewage into the Indrapuri drain, if the same has not been prepared till now,' the Tribunal said in its order. 'The DM will ensure a time-bound action plan within three months from today and will submit an action taken report before the registrar general of the Tribunal. If necessary, the matter will be listed for consideration before the bench,' the NGT added. The Tribunal had constituted a joint committee that carried out an extensive survey of all 286 industrial units in Loni and submitted two reports. The committee also collected water samples from four locations in Ghaziabad for testing. Of these, water samples collected from handpumps in Shri Shanti Digital, Arya Nagar, Ghaziabad were found polluted. The Tribunal also directed the Ghaziabad administration/regulatory agencies to carry out surprise inspections at regular intervals to ensure that no illegal dyeing unit operates in the area.

Surat: A starry-eyed sari trader from the city who thought he was pursuing his dream of becoming an actor was allegedly duped out of Rs 1.71 crore by four persons from Delhi, who convinced him to send them large sums of money to secure high-profile acting work for him — in a web series, a TV serial and a music video. The victim had first contacted the accused on seeing an advertisement for portfolio photography on Instagram. Over two years, they got him to send them money on various pretexts and even called the victim to Delhi and Mumbai for shoots to fortify the deception. Nearly three years after his first contact with them, when they did not get him any acting work and he had paid them an eye-watering Rs 1.71 crore, he filed a complaint for cheating with Althan police. Rahul Rathod, 32, owns a sari trading firm in Surat. In Oct 2022, he saw an advertisement on Instagram for the Delhi-based 'Dream Maker Studio', offering portfolio shooting. The FIR states that days later Alka called Rathod again and told him they were launching a web series for which he had been selected. Alka told Rathod that she would pay Rs 2.5 crore, but Rathod had to pay her the remaining Rs 50 lakh. Rathod sent the money in two transactions through the Surat angadia firm S Babulal. In a letter shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Schlep showed Roblox lawyers claiming that the YouTuber violated the company's rules by engaging in "simulated child endangerment" and sharing personal information, arguing that these actions bypassed the platform's official moderation channels. Schlep, a self-described 'predator hunter' with more than 767,000 YouTube subscribers, had all of his related Roblox accounts permanently banned amid his dispute with the company.
