The music legend has cancelled several shows in the run-up to to his tea-time set at Glastonbury.
Sir Rod Stewart has cancelled a string of concerts in the US as he recovers from flu, ahead of his set at Glastonbury later this month. The music icon is due to play the famous tea-time legends slot at the Somerset festival on Sunday, June 29.
The star is scheduled to take centre stage from 3.45pm to 5.15pm, in a Glasto slot having played host to some of the biggest global stars like Shania Twain, Cat Stevens, Diana Ross, and Kylie Minogue. But he announced on Instagram that he was "devastated" to cancel or reschedule his next six US shows, which are due to take place in the next eight days.

Sir Rod has cancelled six shows, four of which were to take place in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada, as well as two further shows in California that the icon plans to reschedule. However, it appears he is still gunning for the Glastonbury legends slot, insisting he will be back on stage soon.

"I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu," the 80-year-old wrote in his statement on Instagram.
"So sorry my friends.
"I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and will see you soon."
He signed off "Sir Rod" along with the heartbreak emoji.
Stewart also recently revealed that he will reunite with his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood for his much-anticipated set at Glastonbury, and has expressed some dissatisfaction at the allocated length of his set.

He told That Peter Crouch Podcast he was only due to play for an hour and a quarter on the Pyramid Stage.
"But I've asked them 'Please, another 15 minutes' because I play for over two hours every night and it's nothing," he said.
The star also confessed that he wished the legendary slot at Glastonbury wasn't nicknamed the 'tea-time slot', although he said he felt he did deserve the title of 'legend', in an interview with Nick Grimshaw and Annie MacManus on the BBC Sounds podcast Sidetracked By Glastonbury.

He said: "I don't mind, I think I deserve it. I just wish they wouldn't call it the tea-time slot."
Rod also added that all his children have 'bought their own tickets' for the Worthy Farm festival.

In 2024, he promised he would not retire but confirmed that his 2025 European and North American shows would bring an end to his "large-scale world tours".
Sir Rod's best known solo songs include Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?, Every Beat Of My Heart, and Maggie May.
Last month he was presented with a prestigious lifetime achievement award by five of his children at the American Music Awards (AMAs).

EXCLUSIVE Two years after breaking down in front of thousands at Glastonbury, Lewis Capaldi is to make his big stage return at this year's festival

He left Glastonbury in despair two years ago after breaking down in front of thousands - now Lewis Capaldi is to make his big stage return at this year's festival, the Mail on Sunday can reveal. Capaldi, 28, will perform in the 'secret slot' at the festival's Pyramid Stage after Alanis Morrisette on the Friday of the five-day festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset later this month. The singer-songwriter, who rose to fame with hits like Someone You Loved, struggled to complete his Glastonbury performance on the same stage in 2023 after he was hit by a Tourette's attack. Capaldi suffered an attack of the neurological condition which involves sudden and repetitive moments or sounds - and it meant he was unable to sing his chart-topping songs. While Capaldi complained that his voice had 'packed in', the audience lent him vocal support, bellowing out his greatest hits. He left the stage, saying: 'Glastonbury, I'm really sorry. I'm a bit annoyed with myself'. Afterwards, Capaldi announced he would be 'taking a break for the foreseeable future' as it was 'obvious' he needs to spend 'much more time getting my mental and physical health in order'. He called it 'the most difficult [decision] of my life'. Capaldi, who had been due to embark upon a world tour, said he needed time to ' adjust to the impact' of living with Tourette's. He had charted his struggles with the condition in a documentary How I'm Feeling now, which aired in April 2023, two months before his breakdown at Glastonbury. The news of his return to Worthy Farm comes after Capaldi took to the stage for a secret performance at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh last month - the first time he has performed since. Headliner Tom Walker said Capaldi made a 'last minute' decision to perform at the low-key gig, and fans were encouraged to 'stick around' for a surprise act. The audience were also asked not to film any of the set, with their phones placed in sealed pouches throughout the performance, the BBC reported. Capaldi performed six songs, including his 2019 hit Someone You Loved, at the event, which was to help raise funds for the suicide prevention charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (Calm). Capaldi, from Bathgate, West Lothian, released his first album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent in 2019. His second, Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent, debuted at No 1 in 2023, with 95,000 sold, making it the fastest- selling album of the year.
