, the star players of the Devils shared their thoughts on the performance. While competing for Switzerland at the IIHF World Championship 2025, Meier shared with

.com, "We know the standard, and we have to raise the standard. Just being in the playoffs, that's not what we're satisfied with. We want to go further. It should be energising and motivating. We want more. Everybody works together. The GM is working hard. All the players want to improve and got to improve." He further added, "Being in the playoffs, you get a taste of it again. For us, we've got to be there. We want to be there every year and go further, not just getting there. It's not enough. We want more."

Obviously, we got a little unlucky with injuries during the playoffs and right before playoffs, but every offseason is a chance to add and make the team better. We made the playoffs, but I'm biased. Hischier further added, "We obviously could've made a run. You've always got to believe. It's just a step in the right direction, and I like it if the GM says we are going to add some key players that he thinks can help the team improve and be that championship team we hopefully one day will be."

, had appeared at an end-of-season press conference and told the media that big changes would be implemented for the next season. He said, "We've got a lot of decisions to make on certain players, whether we bring guys back, trade players, (but) we won't be coming back with the same group (in 2025-26). I can tell you that because it wasn't good enough."

The tall pacer has got all the tools, but whether he would be the ideal bowler for the pitches in Dubai is debatable. His best performances in an India shirt have come when he has been handed responsibility, often in Jasprit Bumrah's absence, as was seen in Sydney and more recently at The Oval. Shreyas Iyer: If the selectors take a call on pure batting pedigree, they don't have to look beyond the player who led two different franchises, both with the willow especially against spin and his leadership, to IPL finals in two successive seasons. He brings calm and game awareness and can set the game up and also finish it. Shreyas has developed a swagger of late and commands respect in whichever dressing room he finds himself in. The player who defined the last IPL should logically be in the Indian T20 side. Rinku Singh: He has been designated a finisher by his IPL team as well as when he has turned out in India colours, often limiting the number of balls he gets to face. Winning a game for his team by hitting five successive sixes in the final over is a rare occurrence, and that freak achievement, while bringing him into the national spotlight, has pigeon-holed him as an endgame player. It doesn't help that Gambhir doesn't like to designate any player as a finisher in his team. Riyan Parag: He has been earmarked as a promising talent but has not quite delivered, at least not on a consistent basis. He has played the odd impressive knock for Rajasthan Royals, but is not known to win games for his side. The Assam player has a second string to his bow in the form of his part-time off-spin, but that's usually good for only a couple of overs. Selectors have been waiting for the 23-year-old to show a mature head on his shoulders to stake a viable claim to a spot in the national side. Washington Sundar: He did all that was asked of him in England – save a Test, hit some big blows in the company of the tail making the vital difference between victory and defeat, while getting crucial wickets with his underrated off-spin. His skill-set would be useful in Dubai, and he was part of the side that won the ICC Champions Trophy there earlier this year. It helps that Gambhir is fond of depth, in both batting and bowling.

India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed his availability for the upcoming Asia Cup in Dubai, providing a major boost to the national side ahead of the crucial tournament. Ajit Agarkar and the rest of the All India Men's Senior Selection Committee will convene on Tuesday, August 19, to pick the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. Suryakumar Yadav has cleared the fitness Test and is all set to lead India in the eight-team tournament, beginning September 9. There are several major decisions in front of the selectors. However, the biggest question is whether there can be a place for Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The selectors will pick the Asia Cup squad on Tuesday, August 19. (AFP) Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma have made the most of their chances in the shortest format. Hence, there are no grounds for dropping them. However, Shubman Gill (Test captain) and Jaiswal are two of the biggest names in Indian cricket right now. Hence, it needs to be seen whether the selectors are willing to take a brave call and keep the duo out for now. According to a report in Sportstar, the selectors are all set to make a bold call and leave Gill and Jaiswal out of the squad for the Asia Cup. Why pick Shreyas Iyer? According to the report, the selectors want an experienced middle-order batter in the conditions of the UAE for the Asia Cup. Hence, Shreyas Iyer is all but set to be picked. It must be mentioned that the right-handed batter played a crucial role in the UAE in the Champions Trophy 2025, which India eventually won after beating New Zealand in the summit clash. If Shreyas is indeed picked, then one between Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh might have to be dropped. Both Dube and Rinku were part of India's squad for the five-match T20I series against England in January 2025. Suryakumar Yadav will be attending the selection meeting for the Asia Cup. The tournament will begin on September 9 with India playing their first match on September 10 against the UAE. India are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE and Oman.
