Budapest Central European Fashion Week to feature record number of emerging designers
Organised by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA), BCEFW has grown into a major platform for Central European talent, bridging the gap between education and the fashion industry. Students from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) will debut their final collections, offering fresh perspectives on the future of regional fashion.
Around 60 percent of brands presenting this year are led by emerging designers, supported by BCEFW's ongoing initiatives like the Young Talents programme and the Fashion Hub. Educational outreach also continues, with tailoring students invited to attend shows and engage with the industry.
Beyond the runways, BCEFW will bring fashion to the city through pop-ups, exhibitions, and panel discussions. The event continues to strengthen Budapest's role as a regional hub, attracting international press and buyers while boosting the visibility of Hungarian brands on the global stage.

Top Football Transfers in 2025
The 2025 summer transfer window has reopened and numerous transfers have already been completed. This list will change about a billion times over the next few months. The list of players is sorted by original transfer fee, with add-ons noted. Photo by Zainu Color on Unsplash 1) Florian Wirtz (Leverkusen to Liverpool) – £100m, now £116m Liverpool's quiet summer of 2024 will certainly not be repeated after they lift the Premier League trophy again 12 months later. While there will certainly be more transfers, it will take a truly special fee to surpass this nine-figure transfer. 2) Mateus Cunha (Wolves to Manchester United) – £62.5m Sir Jim Ratcliffe's cost-cutting plan put Manchester United's Cunha deal in jeopardy as the 'investigation' was dismissed, but they ultimately 'met the conditions'. 3) Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad to Arsenal) – £60m Liverpool failed to convince Zubimendi to give up the mountains and food of San Sebastian. However, a year later, when the opportunity to move to the Premier League came again, the midfielder jumped at the chance to join Arsenal. 4) Joao Pedro (Brighton to Chelsea) – £55m, £60m in add-ons Two years after his record transfer from Watford, Brighton signed the Brazilian for twice that amount and sold him to Chelsea for a regular fee. 5) Dean Huissen (Bournemouth to Real Madrid) – £50m Just one year after joining the Cherries, Real Madrid paid a release clause of just £12.6m. The transfer fee will be paid in three instalments by Real Madrid, with his former clubs Juventus, Torino and Malaga paying 10% and 5% respectively. 6) Tijani Reynders (AC Milan to Manchester City) – £46.6m, £59.2m with add-ons Reynders was the last of four transfers completed in the first transfer window in preparation for the Club World Cup. As the official best midfielder in Serie A for the 2024/25 season, he is likely to be the most watched player. 8) Miloš Krkic (Bournemouth to Liverpool) – £40m The 21-year-old Hungarian was signed as Andy Robertson's long-term successor at left-back. Betting Surges During Transfer Season High-profile transfers fuel betting markets as team prospects shift. It's official: four more famous restaurants join Time Out Market Budapest
Scheduled to open this autumn, Time Out Market Budapest will bring together the best chefs and restaurants from all over Hungary's capital and beyond, all under one roof. Eleven award-winning and emerging local restaurateurs will be offering the crème de la crème of the city's food scene, and we recently announced the first four. Anyukám Mondta is bringing traditional Italian flavours and family recipes, Pingrumba a taste of the East and 101 Bistro modern Taiwanese cuisine, while Szaletly will be serving the finest examples from the contemporary Hungarian kitchen. Now, a further four restaurants have officially joined the roster – here's what they're bringing to the table. CANTEEN Kicking things off is István Pesti, who earned two Michelin stars with his restaurant in Tata. Now, he has created a new concept exclusively for Time Out Market Budapest and rather than fine dining, traditional Hungarian flavours will be coming to Budapest in the shape of CANTEEN, whose menu includes lip-smacking dishes like goulash soup, Viennese veal schnitzel and chicken paprikash, all topped off with a classic, hearty apple pie. Casa Christa Also among the new names is Casa Christa, a restaurant showcasing the Balaton region, whose every plate evokes the atmosphere of Hungary's bucolic lake getaway: sun-baked slopes, wine cellars and seasonal produce freshly sourced from local markets. For Hungarians, this is where to head for a hit of holiday nostalgia. In addition to these perennial favourites, characteristic dishes of the Balaton Uplands will be served – think fresh fish, regional specialities and reimagined classics created from local ingredients. Bigfish Bigfish will bring fresh flavours and a seaside feel to the heart of Budapest as part of Time Out Market. Expect seasonal seafood specialities, freshly shucked oysters, British-style fish and chips, and premium-quality sushi directly sourced from the largest fish markets in Europe. Tuning Burger The fourth name? That'd be none other than Tuning Burger, once the title-holder of Hungary's Best Burger. This place has raised the concept of hamburgers to a whole new level thanks to exceptional ingredients and flavours. Patties are crafted from matured meat, artisanal buns and homemade sauces, and visitors will find market specialities like Hungarian grey cattle, Hortobágy Angus, Wagyu or Omaha meat. Favourites like the mango chutney, the truffle foie gras, the Umami burger and the award-winning Leicester burger will all be on the menu. What to drink at Time Out Market Budapest To wash all that down, Wines of Hungary will be representing the country's 22 brilliant wine regions at one wine bar counter, with the expert help of sommeliers. We can expect to see big names as well as new varieties, so head here for a sip of an old favourite or some crisp, fresh drops. Cheers to that!
