Daily Mirror2 days ago

Friends Pandora Kjolsrud, 18, and Evan Clark, 17, were found dead in a national forest in the US state of Arizona just five days into their summer holiday, police have said
Two teenagers were mysteriously found shot dead in a national forest just days into their summer holiday this week.
The bodies of Pandora Kjolsrud, 18, and Evan Clark, 17, were discovered in the Tonto National Forest near Mount Ord in Arizona, US, on the morning of May 27. Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez from Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said police are treating their deaths as "suspicious" and an investigation is ongoing.

The teens suffered fatal gunshot wounds and their deaths - dated May 26 - are listed as homicides. No suspect information has been released as of yet. Pandora and Evan were friends and attended Arcadia High School in Phoenix, which is located around 64 miles from the forest where they were found dead.

Friends of the two victims have created a memorial near Mount Ord, where they would watch the sunset together, according to local reports. Meanwhile, their loved ones have paid tribute to the tragic teens, with Evan's mother, Sandra Sweeney, saying: "This last week, Evan was taken from me, and my level of grief feels insurmountable. I find myself at a complete loss to imagine a life without him. It is a small comfort to share some things about this boy who was on his way to becoming a wonderful young man."
In a tribute posted on GoFundMe, the heartbroken woman described her son as "funny, bright, kind and entrepreneurial" and said he was "an old soul who was sensitive and loving." The mum added: "Evan wrote me letters, the last of which he gave me on Mother's Day that was so touching it made me both laugh and cry. He was special. He deserved a long life."

Pandora was described on a GoFundMe page as "a beautiful human being and a bright light in this world who loved every single person she met and had a unique ability to make every person feel special." According to the fundraiser, the young woman loved music and enjoyed playing violin, cello and guitar. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, doing activities like camping, horseback riding, kayaking and hiking with friends and family.
Her grieving mother said she was heartbroken since learning about her daughter's death. "Rest in peace my beautiful girl," she wrote on Facebook.
The mysterious circumstances of the pair's deaths have left the local community in disbelief with a person describing the tragedy as "shocking and really sad", according to Fox 10 Phoenix. Another said: "It's really scary that it's just so close to home and then their family. That's the next thing you think about. It's like, what are they going through? What happened to them? Are they going to get answers?"
A third added: "It's unbelievable. Very distressing. Very distressing, because they're so young, their lives haven't even begun yet." One more said: "It really makes me worry because I have nieces and nephews that age that something could happen to them."

Owner of British fishing boat seized by French fined €30,000

A British fishing boat seized by French authorities in the English Channel last month was released after officials forced its owner to pay €30,000 (£25,260), it has been revealed. The Lady T, based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, was intercepted by the Pluvier, a French navy ship, on May 22 for 'non-authorised fishing in French waters'. Four days later, the vessel, which was accused of fishing for whelks without a licence, was allowed to return to Britain following the payment of what sources described at the time as a 'substantial' sum. Pierre-Michel Bon-Gloro, the deputy departmental director of territories and the sea for Pas-de-Calais, has now disclosed that the Lady T was released 'upon payment of a €30,000 deposit' to French maritime authorities. A fishing industry source said: 'The skipper of the Lady T is not at all happy about the French keeping the €30,000 bail. It's effectively a fine by any other word. 'He's set up a GoFundMe page to help him pay it because it's a hell of a lot of money for anyone to have to lose like that.' 'Tit-for-tat spat' Following the seizure of the Lady T, Olivier Leprêtre, chairman of the regional fishing committee in northern France, suggested it had been intercepted in a tit-for-tat spat. It came after the skipper and owner of Pierre D'Ambre, a French-registered vessel, were fined £40,000 at Newcastle magistrates' court in April after being accused of bottom-trawling in a prohibited area of the Offshore Brighton Marine Conservation Zone. Mr Leprêtre told The Times: 'Until now the French government has always favoured discussions to repression, as opposed to the British government which always imposes rules that are more and more restrictive, and more and more counterproductive for French fishermen. 'There comes a moment when you have to say: Stop.' Another French official said at the time that the Lady T was 'looking for it' after entering exclusive French waters. 'One moment it was in French waters, the next moment it was next to them,' they added. 'A very expensive lesson' The Telegraph understands that the Lady T has now returned to sea and is fishing in EU waters under an external waters licence. A source said: 'The skipper is feeling very sore about the entire episode, as you can imagine. He's been fishing in those waters all his life. 'He'd been waiting for his external waters licence when the boat was seized. It's been a very expensive lesson for him.' The seizure came days after Sir Keir Starmer granted EU fishermen access to British waters for another 12 years in a deal critics fear will damage the industry. Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, previously accused the French of 'shameful double standards' over the Lady T incident.

First picture of 'loving' teenager who died after motorbike plunged into canal

This is the first picture of a 'lovely caring' teenager who died after his motorcycle plunged into a canal in west London. Thinad Agathangelou's body was spotted in the Grand Union Canal in Southall at 11am on Bank holiday Monday. The 19-year-old mechanic had been out for a ride next to the water when he crashed. Police are investigating and believe the incident happened sometime between 3pm on Sunday 25 May and the time he was found the following day. His mother Anna, 53, told Metro: 'He was a lovely caring son who would do anything for anyone. 'I saw him on the Saturday before he died, he came round for dinner. He was his normal self, very helpful and fun to be around. 'He was working in a garage which specialises in converting camper vans. He loved the job and was looking forward to the future. I am heartbroken.' She said she did not know why her son, who lived in Hendon, was in Southall when he died and said she hoped the police investigation would shed more light on the incident. She added: 'As far as I know he didn't have any friends or know anyone in Southall. I have a lot of questions that I hope the investigation can help answer. We are in the dark really. 'He did love bikes starting with bicycles and then motorbikes. They were his passion. How he ended up on the canal we don't know. 'I spoke to the man who found him floating. Apparently, he was wearing his helmet and because of that he came to the surface. 'He was a very bright boy as well and had lots of friends. On the day he came to my house he offered to go to B&Q for me to get some stuff for the garden. He was a loving, thoughtful son.' Flowers and cards have been left on the towpath next to the point where Tommy hit the water. A framed picture of him celebrating his 17th birthday with a cake had also been placed at the scene. One card from his girlfriend says: 'You have no idea how much I love and miss you. 'You were the most perfect person I ever met. I will miss your contagious laugh … I will cherish the moments we had.' The caretaker for housing estate next to the scene said residents were 'deeply shocked'. He told Metro: 'People are very shocked and upset. We just don't know how this could have happened. It's not as if you can ride fast along the towpath as it's narrow.' More Trending A police appeal has been launched for any camera footage covering the stretch of canal where the crash happened. The Met said: 'Between about 3pm on Sunday May 25 and 11am on Monday 26 a man and motorbike have entered the Grand Union Canal behind Carter Court in Southall. 'Sadly, the man was deceased when he was found. Police are appealing for any Ring Doorbell footage or CCTV from around that time.' Meanwhile the teenager's family and friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to help with funeral costs.
