Mail deliveries have been halted in a part of Wales due to a postman being taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog. The incident happened on Wednesday, August 13, in Ceredigion.

The postman was working in an area served by the Llandysul Royal Mail Delivery Office situated in the nearby hamlet of Horeb. The postman was taken to hospital following the attack although no information has been confirmed regarding the nature or seriousness of his injuries.

The address where the incident occurred has not been disclosed but Royal Mail has confirmed it has suspended deliveries to 'relevant addresses' in the area following the incident.

A spokeswoman for Royal Mail said: 'Deliveries have been suspended to relevant addresses while we carry out further inquiries.

"This is a temporary measure.
"We take dog attacks extremely seriously and will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our colleagues.'
A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: 'We received a report that a man had been bitten by a dog in Llandysul on Wednesday, August 13.

If you're curious, you can read our Privacy Notice. ‌ A post about the incident on the Police Scotland Greater Glasgow Facebook page said: "Officers are appealing for information following a robbery at a shop on Hawthorn Street in Glasgow. ‌ "The incident happened around 9.05pm on Saturday, 16 August, when a man entered the premises and sprayed a staff member with a substance before making off with a sum of cash. ‌ "Emergency services attended and the staff member, a 24-year-old man, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. The suspect is described as white and of slim build. "He was wearing a green and grey tracksuit top with a zip, orange shorts, black socks and black trainers. He left in the direction of Memel Street." Detective Sergeant Greg Turnbull said: 'This was an extremely frightening experience for the shop worker which left him with serious injuries requiring hospital treatment. 'Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible and we are asking anyone who knows who he is or where he might be to get in touch. 'We are also asking anyone who saw anything before or after the robbery to make contact. Please also check private CCTV and dash-cam footage to see if you have captured something that could assist with our investigation.' A child has died after getting into difficulty in the water at a beauty spot. ‌ Emergency services were called to Wacker Quay at Antony near Torpoint, Cornwall at 6pm on Saturday but paramedics tragically pronounced a child dead at the scene. ‌ The age or gender of the child has not been confirmed, reports the Mirror. ‌ The tragedy comes after police confirmed a 12-year-old boy reported missing at another beauty spot on Saturday in North Yorkshire had been found dead. Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement to Plymouth Plus:"Emergency services were called at around 6pm on Saturday 16 August to Wacker Quay at Antony, near Torpoint, following concerns for a person in the water. "A child was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene. Next of kin have been informed and will be supported by officers. The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner." Police, paramedics, fire crews, HM Coastguard teams and two helicopters were almost the rescue crews deployed to the beauty spot following concerns for someone in the water. Crews worked throughout the night using floodlights on the shoreline to find the child. ‌ Privacy screens were erected as detectives and forensic officers gathered evidence. Wacker Quay is described as providing "stunning views and free public access to the River Lynher". Temperatures soared across the country this weekend hitting as high as 30C in some areas of southern England. The child's death was confirmed after the body of another child was discovered in the river at Richmond Falls. ‌ A search was launched at the beauty spot after a 12-year-old boy entered the water and then disappeared at around 5pm. The body of a child was found around six hours later. A police statement said: "Following further searches of the river, sadly search teams recovered a child's body from the water at 10.45pm today (Saturday, August 16). The body is yet to be identified but the boy's family have been informed and are receiving support from specially-trained officers. "Emergency services currently remain at the scene. We are not treating the death as suspicious and we are not in a position to share any further information at this time."

A kids football club has hit out after a fire attack at their home ground as Police Scotland say officers are now investigating the deliberate blaze. The incident took place at Mintlaw Boys Club's premises in Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, on Friday evening and saw a firebug torching storage containers. The club said the containers have been completely destroyed and that items stored within them, including training and match balls, have also been lost. The club posted on Facebook on Saturday: "The club is very saddened to find out that last night our container at the Mintlaw pavilion has been damaged beyond repair after being deliberately set in fire, with many items within now destroyed also! "We are a community club serving youngsters from the village and surrounding areas and this needless vandalism just causes unnecessary work for the club volunteers who already give up an incredible amount of time to help run the club! "If anyone has any information, please contact the police and hopefully the can catch the persons responsible." Followers flocked to the comment section to pass on their well wishes. One wrote: "This is so upsetting to read. The volunteers at MBC do fantastic work, providing a fantastic service within the community to 100s of kids. "So much hard work goes into running the club from the committee behind the scenes to the coaches and first aiders providing the opportunity for kids to be part of a team and making friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. "Unfortunately this type of incident is common place with other grassroots clubs having being on the receiving end of vandalism stalling their good work. "All this good work undone by mindless vandalism. "Let's hope culprits are caught and the club continues their great work." And coaches from other clubs offered to help. One said: "What a total sickener. Hope they catch the people responsible. Please drop a message if Peterhead boys club can help out with equipment to get you by in the short term." Another said: "Soul destroying!! Hope they find who done this and folk pay for the damage." While a third added: "Really sorry to hear this. Absolutely terrible hope none of the kids lose out cause of this. Great club and always a pleasure playing against you guys." Another wrote: "I am so sorry. No respect for people's things now. The bairns must be devastated everything burned." And several followers asked if they could donate to the team to help replace what had been damaged. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 7.30pm on Friday, 15 August, 2025, police received a report of two containers on fire in the North Street area of Mintlaw. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.'
