160 students to be pioneers of form six education programme at two public universities
She said the pilot programme, to be implemented at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), reflects the ministry's continuous commitment to enhancing the quality and prestige of Form Six education.
'So, InsyaAllah, on June 10, we will receive the first intake of 100 students at UKM and 60 students at USM.
'They (students) will need to apply and meet specific criteria. We are truly looking forward to this pilot initiative,' she said after officiating the launch and handover of the Anti-Corruption Heroes Comic Collection published by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) at the World Trade Centre (WTC), here today.
The Form Six Education Programme at public universities was announced by the Education Ministry last May 19.
According to her, the teaching staff for the programme will be provided by the ministry, and the teachers are already prepared to implement the pilot programme.
Fadhlina said that in its initial phase, the programme would be carried out at two public universities first, before being expanded to other public universities based on need and suitability.
Commenting on the launch of the comic collection, Fadhlina said it was one of the government's grassroots efforts to expose children at the primary school level to anti-corruption awareness.
'Hopefully, with these comics and interactive videos we plan to feature on the Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia (DELIMa) platform, the ministry can further strengthen advocacy and public awareness, especially among our children, on the importance of combating corruption,' she said.
Earlier, Fadhlina witnessed the handing over of the Wira Anti Rasuah comic collection from MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman to the Director-General of Education Datuk Azman Adnan.
The comic collection is an English to Malay translation of the original book titled 'Bribe Busters: A Trace Comic Book' and is in and is in multi-format, namely an informative comic book and video to attract young readers in an effort to instill the value of integrity in students.
The publication of this book is proof of the commitment and togetherness of ITBM and MACC in supporting the government's efforts in addressing the causes of corruption through the culture of integrity, transparency and accountability starting from the school level in line with the Education Strategy contained in the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024-2028.
To ensure access to this book reaches students and becomes one of the reading and reference materials in educating good values, integrity and patriotism, the book collection will be distributed to all primary schools under the Ministry of Education.

Fisherman fined RM10,000 for bribing maritime officer
ALOR STAR: A fisherman was fined RM10,000 by the Sessions Court here after pleading guilty to an alternative charge of attempting to bribe a senior officer from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). Jamri Abdul Razak, 28, made the guilty plea before Judge N, Priscilla Hemalini, today. He settled the fine immediately. According to the facts of the case, Jamri had offered RM5,000 in cash to a senior assistant director from the agency on June 22, 2022. The bribe was intended as an inducement for the officer to release seven undocumented migrants who had been detained under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering and remaining in Malaysia without valid passes or permits. The offence was committed at the Kedah/Perlis MMEA office in Langkawi. The offence falls under Section 214 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, or a fine or both, if convicted. The prosecution was handled by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor Mohd Zulfadli Azharudin, while the accused was unrepresented. The court also ordered the RM5,000 in bribe money to be forfeited to the government through the MACC.

(AFP pic) BEIJING : China today extended its anti-subsidy investigation into EU dairy imports by six months, showing little sign of letting up in a two-front trade war with Brussels and Washington that threatens to upend its export-orientated growth model. The commerce ministry said it had prolonged the investigation period to Feb 21, 2026, citing the case's complexity. Beijing's decision to extend its probe into some EU cheese, milk and cream products comes after it rolled over in June an investigation into European pork, of which it is also a major buyer, and in July announced duties on EU brandy producers – though major cognac makers were spared, provided they sell at or above a minimum price. China is seeking a lasting trade truce with the US and EU to preserve its export engine as it struggles with the prospect of overhauling its economic model, analysts say, with domestic demand still in the doldrums. Trade tensions between China and the EU erupted in 2023 when the European Commission – which oversees the bloc's trade policy – launched an anti-subsidy probe into China-made electric vehicles (EVs), accusing Beijing of flooding the market with state-backed exports. In April this year, a European Commission spokesman said the EU and China had agreed to look into setting minimum prices of Chinese-made EVs instead of tariffs imposed by the EU last year. The two sides have yet to reach a deal. 'Beijing is still hoping to come to terms with the EU on a long list of trade conflicts,' said Even Rogers Pay, an analyst at Beijing-based Trivium China who specialises in agriculture. 'This investigation – along with the investigation into EU pork, which was extended in June – are significant bargaining chips in the ongoing negotiations around the EU's tariffs on Chinese new energy vehicles,' she said. TVET Commission Will Build A More Systematic Ecosystem
GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The government is confident that the establishment of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Commission will create a more systematic, focused, and industry-responsive ecosystem. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that the establishment of the commission would also optimise resources, prevent wastage, and overlapping of functions among TVET-related ministries and institutions. 'During the tabling of the 13MP (13th Malaysia Plan), Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) stated the intention to strengthen the implementation of the National TVET Policy 2030 through the TVET Commission. 'It (TVET Commission) will serve as a dedicated entity to regulate TVET institutions, monitor the implementation of strategies and initiatives, and ensure coordination across all ministries,' he said when winding up the 13MP debate on behalf of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development in the Dewan Rakyat today. Responding to an interjection from Lee Chuan How (PH-Ipoh Timor) on the involvement of Chinese youth in TVET, the Minister of Rural and Regional Development agreed that promotion, information dissemination, and access to application processes and course offerings must be enhanced. He also praised Lee, who is himself a TVET graduate, for his commitment to efforts in encouraging secondary school students and school leavers to pursue the field. 'The collaboration with him has also drawn Chinese students into TVET. He has become a catalyst in encouraging Chinese students to join TVET, which is a success for the TVET Council thanks to his efforts,' he said. On the proposed amendments to the Land Act (Group Settlement Areas) 1960 (Act 530), following issues related to Felda land inheritance, Ahmad Zahid said that the government began the review of the act in September 2022 through coordination meetings, technical committee meetings, workshops, and four engagement sessions with the stakeholders in 2024. He said following this, five main priorities have been highlighted, covering contributions to national policy; protection of GSA land ownership interests; strengthening governance; meeting the needs of the new generation of Felda settlers; and empowering the act to remain relevant.
