A total of 6,155 empty cylinders and 679 filled cylinders were confiscated, along with a vehicle, a forklift, and gas storage cages.
Southeast Brigade GOF commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid confirmed the premises lacked a valid licence for storing subsidised and industrial gas.
A 41-year-old caretaker was arrested to assist in the investigation.
All seized items were handed over to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry's enforcement unit in Pahang.

Police probe TikTok account, launch disciplinary action in Zara Qairina case

THE Royal Malaysia Police has launched dual investigations into the case of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir, focusing both on misinformation spread online and alleged procedural failures by officers in the initial probe of her death. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M Kumar S Muthuvelu said police are investigating TikTok account @berjuanguntukzara for uploading inaccurate and misleading content. He warned that unverified claims could confuse the public and undermine the investigation. The case is being probed under the Sedition Act 1948, Penal Code Section 505(b) for causing public fear, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of online services. Separately, Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department will open disciplinary proceedings against three Sabah police officers – a superintendent district police chief, an assistant superintendent CID head, and an inspector – for lapses in handling the case. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the officers failed in their supervisory responsibilities, including the investigating officer's omission to request a post-mortem. 'They must be held accountable. Firm action will be taken against those who failed to act or supervise properly,' he said. Zara, a Form One student at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar, was found unconscious in a drain near her hostel on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor. She died later at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu. — Aug 16, 2025

Published on: Saturday, August 16, 2025 Published on: Sat, Aug 16, 2025 By: Cynthia D Baga Text Size: The offence falls under Section 55E(1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and is punishable under Section 55E(2) of the same Act. Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old China national was fined a total of RM25,000 by the Sessions Court here for harbouring five illegal immigrants at premises under his control. Li Hao pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain, who imposed a RM5,000 fine for each illegal immigrant involved. In default of payment, Li will face six months' imprisonment per charge. Li was found to have allowed five Filipino nationals — two women and three men, aged between 18 and 48 — who lacked valid travel documents, to remain at the Liubaba Lease premises in Taman Emas, Jalan Penampang, around 9.10pm on July 10 this year. The offence falls under Section 55E(1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and is punishable under Section 55E(2) of the same Act. The law provides for a fine between RM5,000 and RM30,000, or imprisonment of up to 12 months, or both, for each illegal immigrant found on the premises. In mitigation, Li appealed for leniency. However, Prosecuting Officer Mohd Sharifuddin Salim urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence to serve as a deterrent. In a separate case in the same court, four Filipino nationals were jailed four months each after pleading guilty to entering the State without valid travel documents. Nanette Sapnay Pili, Cherry Mae Sampung Bernardino, Junaida Omar, and Kc Marwuez Sanchez were arrested during an Immigration enforcement operation at an entertainment outlet in Tanjung Aru at 1.20am on Aug 3. The four failed to produce valid identification documents during the operation. The court ordered their sentences to run from the date of their arrest. They will be referred to the Immigration Department upon completion of their prison term. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Contractor fined for failing to appear as witness

Published on: Saturday, August 16, 2025 Published on: Sat, Aug 16, 2025 By: Cynthia D Baga Text Size: The offence falls under Section 40(2) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and is punishable under Section 57 of the same Act, which provides for a fine of up to RM10,000, or imprisonment of up to one year, or both, on conviction. Kota Kinabalu: A 44-year-old contractor was fined RM3,000 by the Sessions Court here for failing to appear as a witness at the Immigration Department office in Kudat. Liew Ket Vui pleaded guilty before Judge Hurman Hussain to the charge of failing to comply with a summons without reasonable excuse. The court ordered that he serve six months' jail in default of payment. Liew paid the fine. According to the facts of the case, Liew failed to present himself at the Kudat Immigration office at 9am on June 3 this year, as required in a summons issued to him in connection with an investigation. The offence falls under Section 40(2) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and is punishable under Section 57 of the same Act, which provides for a fine of up to RM10,000, or imprisonment of up to one year, or both, on conviction. Liew, who was unrepresented, pleaded for leniency. However, Prosecuting Officer Mohd Sharifuddin Salim urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence to serve as a lesson not only to the accused but also to the general public, emphasising the importance of complying with lawful instructions from enforcement authorities. The court heard that Liew had been summoned to provide a statement in relation to the arrest of several of his workers at a construction site. Despite the official notice, he failed to attend the scheduled session without providing valid excuse. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
