MUAR - The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has lodged a police report against a motoring influencer and his younger brother for lodging a false report regarding the influencer's alleged disappearance in Sungai Tui, Jalan Bukit Kepong, here last Monday.
JBPM Johor Zone 4 chief Senior Fire Superintendent II Norshuhada Amsari said the report was lodged at the Muar District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 11.30 am yesterday on the advice of JBPM Director-General Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad.
"JBPM views the act of making a false report related to a disappearance or accident as irresponsible and inappropriate, as it leads to a waste of time and resources of rescue personnel.
"Moreover, it affects the response to other emergencies, as officers and personnel are focused at the reported location. Such actions also undermine public trust in agencies like ours,' she told Bernama when contacted today.
Norshuhada said the report was also aimed at reminding the public not to engage in such frivolous acts that disrupt the responsibilities of rescue teams.
She said that during the four-day search and rescue operation, more than 30 JBPM officers and personnel from Muar, Labis and Pagoh were deployed to the location immediately after the influencer's younger brother filed the missing person report.
"The Water Rescue Team (PPDA) was also assigned to the scene, in addition to the deployment of seven assets, including a drone from the Fire Department.
"We were quite disappointed when police later informed us that the individual was in fact safe and had never been at the reported search location,' she said.
Norshuhada also expressed appreciation to all involved, especially the rescue personnel who carried out their duties with dedication, and she hoped the individuals involved would come forward and issue a public apology.
Recently, the media reported that a businessman and owner of a vehicle accessories shop was reported missing after the Perodua Axia he was driving allegedly plunged into Sungai Tui.
However, Muar District Police Chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said on Saturday that investigations revealed the 38-year-old man had allegedly staged his disappearance before fleeing to a neighbouring country, with his brother believed to have conspired by giving false statements for personal gain. - BERNAMA

Lorry driver fined RM300 for blocking fire engine during emergency

IPOH: A lorry driver has been fined RM300 for obstructing a Fire and Rescue Department vehicle responding to an emergency along Jalan Ipoh–Kuala Lumpur, despite its sirens being activated. Kampar police chief Superintendent Mohamad Nazri Daud said the summons was issued after a video of the incident went viral, showing the fire engine struggling to overtake the lorry, which failed to give way. "The incident sparked public concern over the safety and priority of emergency vehicles during critical operations," he said in a statement today. Police identified the driver following an investigation by the Kampar District Police Headquarters (IPD). Initial enquiries revealed that the driver claimed he was unaware of the fire engine due to the loud noise of the lorry's engine and the windows being fully shut, which muffled the sirens. The summons was issued under Section 9(2) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN166/59) for failing to give way to an emergency vehicle. Mohamad Nazri reminded road users of their legal obligation to yield to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police cars and fire engines when sirens or warning lights are activated, warning that failure to comply not only breaches the law but could also delay rescue operations and endanger lives.

Teenager seeking treatment for gastric revealed her father raped her

KUALA SELANGOR: A teenage girl who initially complained of gastric pain while seeking treatment at Tanjong Karang Hospital was discovered to be a rape victim of her biological father. Kuala Selangor OCPD Supet Azaharudin Tajuddin said he received a report regarding the incident from the hospital at 5.07pm on Tuesday (July 29), reported Sinar Harian. According to him, the initial investigation found that the 17-year-old victim received treatment at the hospital at 6pm on Monday (July 28) after complaining of gastric pain. "However, the doctor's initial interview with the victim led to a shocking revelation when the teenager informed that her 51-year-old biological father had raped her," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 30). According to him, following a police report, a team from the Kuala Selangor District Police Headquarters (IPD) arrested the suspect in the Bestari Jaya area here at 10.15pm the same day. He said the suspect, who works as a masseuse, was remanded for seven days until Aug 5. "The case is being investigated according to Section 376B of the Penal Code," he said.

Fire Department Defers To AGC Over Influencer Brothers' False Report Sentence

MARANG, July 29 (Bernama) -- The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) is leaving it to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) to assess the sentence handed down to motoring influencer Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin and his brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, for lodging a false police report. JBPM director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohamad said the department respects the court's decision to impose a one-month jail term and RM1,500 fine on the brothers, despite public criticism that the sentence was too lenient given the potential impact on public trust and safety. 'Some feel the punishment was too light, especially considering the damage to the credibility and safety risks posed by someone with influence. 'But we have to respect the authorities with greater legal standing on the matter,' he told reporters after the closing ceremony of National Firefighter Drill 2025 at the Eastern Region Fire and Rescue Academy parade ground in Wakaf Tapai today. Nor Hisham added that although JBPM has its own legislation, which could allow the department to act, the matter has been left entirely to the police as the primary enforcement authority. Yesterday, the AGC filed a notice of appeal against the Muar Magistrates' Court decision to sentence Tengku Nizaruddin and his younger brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, to one month's jail and a RM1,500 fine for lodging a false report and providing false information to a public servant. In a separate development, Nor Hisham said JBPM Perak has been instructed to suspend a volunteer firefighter linked to a lewd video that recently went viral on social media. Although the individual involved is not a full-time firefighter, Nor Hisham said the incident has nonetheless tarnished the reputation of the department as a whole. 'It's deeply disappointing when someone from our ranks engages in such behaviour. Yesterday, I reminded all state JBPM directors to remain vigilant against any actions that could damage the department's image,' he said.
