TPCC chief slams KCR, Kishan over alleged BRS-BJP nexus
Hyderabad: TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Friday alleged that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's family was fighting for money and the BRS party was on the brink of collapse anytime.
Addressing the press at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud said that the opposition BRS has become a sinking ship. If BRS joins hands with BJP which has only eight seats, the pink party will also be reduced to eight seats.
As soon as Justice PC Ghose Commission issued notices to KCR and BJP MP Eatala Rajendar, he said, 'The old bond between KCR and Rajendar was revived and the BJP MP also met BRS leader Harish Rao at a farm house in Shamirpet. They also had a phone conversation with KCR before they appeared before the Commission.'
The remarks of BRS leader Kavitha and Raja Singh exposed the secret pact between BJP and BRS, the Congress leader said. Amit Shah says Mamata opposed Op Sindoor to ‘appease' votebank; TMC hits back, calls on Home Minister to quit over ‘failures'
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of opposing Operation Sindoor to 'appease' the Muslim votebank. Hitting back, Banerjee's Trinamool Congress denied Shah's accusation and called on the Home Minister to resign, taking responsibility for 'all the failures' that led to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The attack in south Kashmir's Pahalgam killed 26 civilians on April 22. As part of India's response to the attack, the armed forces carried out Operation Sindoor on May 7, striking terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK. Addressing BJP workers in Kolkata, Shah linked the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections with national security. He hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 'deciding to carry out Operation Sindoor' and came down heavily on the TMC and Banerjee for 'appeasement', which he also blamed for infiltration from Bangladesh. He alleged widespread corruption in the state and also called the recent unrest in Murshidabad a 'state-sponsored riot'. On 'appeasement', Shah said, 'Didi started giving allowance to Imams, but court stopped it. Bangladeshi Rohingyas are infiltrating. They (the state government) do drama of procession on Ram Navami, but Durga Puja immersion is postponed. They give Ramadan leave for Muslim employees.' He also mentioned the ban on screening of controversial film Kerala Story in West Bengal. 'Most importantly, you (Banerjee) are opposing Operation Sindoor to please the Muslim votebank. Tell me, should this appeasement be allowed to continue?' Shah asked the crowd, urging them to resolve to 'uproot the Mamata Banerjee government' in 2026. He alleged that infiltration from Bangladesh was taking place with Banerjee's blessings. 'Bengali votes determine not only the future of Bengal, but are also linked to the nation's security, because Mamata Banerjee has opened the borders of our country for Bangladeshis. Infiltration is happening with her blessings… Only the BJP government can stop infiltration. If you want to stop infiltration, then you should bring the BJP (to power) in Bengal,' the Union Home Minister said. Operation Sindoor was a theme that Shah kept touching on in his speech. 'This is Narendra Modi's government, the BJP's government. I am saying that Operation Sindoor is not over,' he said. 'A few days ago in Pehalgam, terrorists sent by Pakistan killed our innocent citizens in front of their families after asking their religion. Tell me, should those terrorists sent by Pakistan be punished or not? Did Modiji decide to carry out Operation Sindoor or not? We did surgical strikes and air strikes. Now, with Operation Sindoor, we went 100 km inside (Pakistan) and destroyed their (terrorists') headquarters. Hundreds of terrorists have been killed.' 'This is causing pain in Didi's stomach,' Shah alleged. 'I request the mothers and women of Bengal to explain the value of sindoor to Mamata ji in the 2026 election. Mothers and sisters, do explain what it means to insult sindoor.' Reacting to Shah's statements, the TMC accused him of playing politics in the name of Operation Sindoor at a time when TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee is part of a multi-party delegation of MPs who have been sent to foreign countries to appraise governments abroad regarding the strikes in Pakistan. 'The Home Minister has come to Bengal and acts like a BJP worker, using cheap language against our CM. Would any Opposition leader be allowed to talk like this?… Divisiveness is his politics… He is talking about infiltration, can he say how infiltration took place in Pahalgam? He has failed as a Home Minister and must resign,' said TMC MP Sagarika Ghose. 'The Home minister has to take responsibility for all the failures, and must resign. He has alleged that we have spoken against Operation Sindoor, but we have not said anything against Operation Sindoor…,' said state minister Chandrima Bhattacharya. During his speech in Kolkata, Shah also criticised Banerjee for opposing the Waqf Amendment Act. The violence in Murshidabad district in April, on the issue of the Waqf amendment, was a 'state-sponsored riot', he said. 'The Home Ministry repeatedly asked for the deployment of the BSF (in Murshidabad). But the government here did not want the BSF. Because if the BSF had come, the Hindus would have been saved… I have no hesitation in saying that the way a minister of the Bengal government was involved in this riot, it was a state-sponsored riot,' Shah said. On the issue of development, Shah said the Modi government has done a lot for West Bengal. 'Along with development, Modiji did not forget the culture of Bengal. For many years, the people of Bengal have been demanding that Bengali be recognised as a classical language… Modiji recognised Bengali as a classical language,' he said, asking why Banerjee, despite having served as a Union minister under the UPA government, had not managed to bring this recognition to the language. 'Mamataji did not even have the manners to thank Modiji for this,' Shah said. Targeting the TMC government over post-poll violence in the state, he said, 'Hundreds of BJP workers were killed in Bengal during the elections and after Didi won. Didi, how long will you save them? Your time is up. The BJP will form the government in 2026.' He also criticised the TMC for claiming that the Centre was not releasing funds for the state. He said that the Modi government released Rs 8,27,000 crore to West Bengal in the last 10 years, and that this was four times what the Congress-led UPA government had released. He expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power in the state in 2026, and told party workers, 'There is just a little more left. You have crossed 40% (vote share), and just 4-5% is needed. Our government will be formed in the next election. In 2017, when I was the BJP president, I said that a BJP government would be formed here. That day has come. Go to every voter in Bengal day and night until 2026.' He ended with an appeal to the people of West Bengal: 'With folded hands, I appeal to the people of Bengal to give Modi a chance.'

No water diversion to Bengaluru South district, says MLA Ranganath after protest over link canal
A link canal project that aims to supply water from the Hemavathi dam to Kunigal in Karnataka's Tumakuru district, around 70 km from Bengaluru, is at the centre of a controversy following a massive protest attended by leaders of the Opposition BJP and JD(S) on Saturday. Both parties have alleged that the project would divert water from the Tumakuru to Bengaluru South district –formerly Ramanagara district — Congress leaders have maintained that the canal would benefit only Kunigal taluk. On Sunday, Kunigal MLA Dr HD Ranganath of the Congress released a statement accusing the Opposition ranks of misleading people by claiming that the water will be diverted to Magadi and Ramanagar, which are part of Bengaluru South district, using the canal. 'The link canal project is restricted to Kunigal alone,' he said, adding that the canal was designed to supply 388 cusecs of water for the benefit of farmers in Kunigal. Tumakuru district gets 49 per cent water share of Hemavathi. But Kunigal taluk, where the fight for Hemavathi water started, is yet to get the 3.01 TMC water,' he said, adding that the link canal, where work started in 2018, would benefit the people of Kunigal taluk. The MLA, who is a relative of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, accused some 'vested interests' of misleading the people and urged Tumakuru residents not to oppose the link canal project. The protest held at the project site at Nitturu in Gubbi taluk, Tumakuru district, was attended by BJP MLAs Suresh Gowda and Jyothi Ganesh, and JD(S) MLA MT Krishnappa, along with representatives of farmer organisations and seers. The Bengaluru-Honnavar highway was blocked by protesters who demanded the government immediately scrap the project. The demonstration had taken place despite the district administration clamping prohibitory orders at the project site. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah later held a meeting with Home Minister G Parameshwara – who is district in-charge minister for Tumakuru, over the incident and asked him to resolve the issue. Parameshwara told reporters on Saturday that the works were started based on a report submitted by a technical committee formed to look into the project. 'The works were started at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore. When it began, the BJP started opposing it, after which the DyCM held multiple meetings with MPs and MLAs of the region. They had demanded that a technical committee be formed. The project began once the technical committee cleared it,' he said, adding that the protests by BJP were politically motivated. Shivakumar, who also holds the water resources portfolio, doubled down saying that the government would go ahead with the project. 'Express canal link works are 40 per cent complete. The question of stopping the project does not arise,' he said. The Hemavathi reservoir in Hassan district provides irrigation to Hassan and Tumakuru districts.

In his marathon address at the DMK General Council meeting in Madurai, he said the same time next year, the ruling DMK has retained power and formed the government for the seventh time, should be the headlines. Taking a dig at the AIADMK, he said no 'comical alliance' were not able able to defeat the DMK over the past elections. And they could never win hereafter. It is was not a routine GC has been convened to devise the strategy to install DMK in power for a record seventh time. "The headlines next year during the same day must be the DMK formed the government for seventh time. The DMK-front has secured a historic victory and the Dravidian Model governance is continuing for a second successive term", he added. Exhorting the DMK cadres to work hard to ensure party's victory in the crucial 2026 Assembly polls by strengthening micro-management system at booth levels and taking the welfare measures of the DMK's Dravidian Model Governance to the people, Mr Stalin appealed to them to work in close coordination with the alliance parties. "Even if there are some differences, you should forget them and work in close then our Victory march will continue", he added. Stating that Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami had dreamt of creating a wedge in the DMK-led front and floated several theories, Mr Stalin said by announcing severing of its ties with the BJP he had thought that the DMK alliance will break. But their acting and the idea did not fructify. That's why Mr Palaniswami went to Delhi, switched several cars and surrendered before Mr Amit Shah again,resulting in revival of ties. "When Mr Amit Shah announced the revival of alliance with AIADMK in Chennai, Mr Palaniswami remained a mute an he did not prostrate", Mr Stalin said, coming down heavily both on the BJP and the AIADMK. Pointing out that only the party which heads the Front (AIADMK IN TN) in a State will announce the alliance, the Chief Minister said on the contrary it was announced by Mr Amit Shah. "This shows that the AIADMK has come under the complete control of the BJP. The next step of Mr Palaniswami is to take the entire state of TN to the control of BJP. That's why Mr Amit Shah is making repeated visits to the State', he said. Strong reiterating his earlier comment, Mr Stalin said 'Even if any Shah comes, they cannot rule Tamil Nadu is always Delhi's out of control". He also told the DMK cadres to take this message to the people, inform them what will happen to the State if the AIADMK-BJP alliance formed the government in the State. They will create communal clashes, instigate caste tensions, divide the people in all forms, will not allow our students to pursue their education, will drown us with regressive policies, scuttle industrial growth, impose Hindi and destroy the TN's identity". In a veiled attack on actor-politician Vijay's TVK, Mr Stalin said some new people are coming to cheat the people by stating that they are the alternative. "We should give them a fitting reply (in the elections) to them also", he added. Directing the Party functionaries to intensify the membership enrollment drive for the elections during the next two months as decided in the form a Special resolution adopted at the GC meet earlier in the day, he said from the first week of this month he would be meeting the DMK functionaries constituency-wise at the Party headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam' for an one-to-one interaction, while stating that he would also be personally monitoring the membership enrollment drive.
