Newport man admits causing serious injury to dog walker
The victim and her dog were trapped under the defendant's Volkswagen Passat before he fled the scene.
Gwent Police said at the time that she had suffered potentially life-threatening injuries following the incident at around 6.30am on Monday, January 13.
Probert also admitted failing to report a road accident and failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver/rider of a vehicle.

His case was committed to the crown court where he is due to be sentenced next month on Friday, August 22.
Probert, of Thames Close, Bettws was granted conditional bail.
While he was on the run, crime fighting charity CrimeStoppers offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
A spokesperson said: "Ian Probert is wanted for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
"On January 13, in the Malpas area, an elderly woman and her dog were trapped under a car, causing serious injuries, the driver fled the scene.
"A reward of up to £1,000 is available for the anonymous information on the whereabouts of Ian Probert.'
In a statement issued at the time, Gwent Police said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision in Rowan Way, Newport at around 6.35am on Monday 13 January.
"Officers attended along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service, Welsh Air Ambulance and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
"The collision involved a silver Volkswagen Passat and a pedestrian.
'The pedestrian, a woman, has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
"The occupants of the car reportedly left the scene prior to police attendance.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam footage, is asked to contact us.'

When tested, he recorded having 10 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre (µg/L) of blood. The legal limit – to exclude accidental exposure – is 2µg/L. Kitching pleaded guilty to driving whilst under the influence of drugs, and was disqualified from driving for 12 months at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on July 8. He was sentenced to pay a £120 fine, £85 in costs, and a £48 surcharge. PHILLIP WHITNEY, 73, of Pill Road in Hook, was caught speeding in a 20mph limit. Whitney was driving a Volkswagen Passat in Johnston on December 6, and was caught by a manned speed camera doing 27mph. He pleaded guilty, and was fined £115 at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on July 16. Whitney must also pay costs of £90 and a £46 surcharge, and had three points added to his licence. DANIEL JAMES, of Preseli View in Walton East, has been fined for stopping on a pedestrian crossing. James stopped a Isuzu D-Max on the pedestrian crossing outside Mace store in Prendergast in Haverfordwest on March 31. He pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on July 16. James was fined £300, and was ordered to pay £130 in costs and a £120 surcharge. He also had three points added to his licence. TOMOS COIGLEY, 23, of Rosemarket, was disqualified after being caught driving whilst under the influence of cannabis. Coigley was driving a Ford Fiesta on the A40 at Rudbaxton on October 20. When tested, he recorded having 5.3µg/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood. The limit is 2µg/L. He switched his plea to guilty at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on July 10, and was ordered to pay a £180 fine, £1,200 in costs, and a £72 surcharge. Coigley was banned from driving for 12 months. DAN WOOD, 41, of Maes Yr Hufenfa in St Clears, was clocked speeding on the A40. Wood was caught by a manned speed camera doing 71mph in a Ford Transit on the A40 at Nantyci Showground. The road is a 60mph limit for goods vehicles. He pleaded guilty, and had three points added to his licence at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on July 16. Wood must also pay a £166 fine, £150 in costs, and a £66 surcharge. ANDREW MILLER, 59, of Morfa Terrace in Manorbier, has been found guilty of refusing to identify a driver when required by police. Miller was charged with failing to give information relating to the identity of the driver of Mini John Cooper Works who was suspected by police of having committed a motoring offence. He was found guilty after the offence was proved in Miller's absence on June 11. At Llanelli Magistrates' Court on July 9, Miller was ordered to pay a £660 fine, £110 in costs, and a £264 surcharge. He also had six points added to his licence, and was disqualified from driving for six months for accumulating too many points.

Police hunting 'slim' thug after man attacked in Gourock
Detectives are appealing for urgent information after a man was assaulted and robbed in Gourock on Sunday, July 27. The incident happened at around 12.20pm on Cardwell Road in the Inverclyde town. Officers were called to the area to assist the 42-year-old man who had been pushed to the ground, attacked, and robbed of personal belongings. After arriving at the scene, the man was taken to hospital for treatment. Medics have since described his condition as being stable. Meanwhile, cops have launched a search for the culprit. The suspect is described as being white, around 6ft in height and of slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top and dark green shorts. He was last seen running in the direction of Steel Street. Shona Stevens: Man in court charged with murder of Irvine woman in 1994
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman more than 30 years ago. Shona Stevens, 31, suffered serious injuries after being attacked near her home in Irvine, North Ayrshire, in November 1994. She died in hospital three days later. The mother-of-one's family has never given up their campaign for justice, and in November last year a £20,000 reward was offered by Crimestoppers for information that could help catch and convict her killer. On Friday, Police Scotland announced its Major Investigation Team had arrested a man in connection with the case. Suspect Fraser Kilpatrick, 67, was charged the following day and appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday. Kilpatrick, of Glasgow, made no plea to the single charge of murder. He is due back in the dock within the next eight days. "I am grateful for their information and input which greatly contributed to our investigation." Ms Stevens was attacked on 10 November 1994. After leaving Bourtreehill shopping centre, she was last seen walking alone on Towerlands Road at about 1.10pm. Ten minutes later, she was discovered seriously injured in a wooded area to the rear of Alder Green, just 200 yards from her home. Ms Stevens died in hospital on 13 November 1994. Appealing for fresh information last year, her daughter Candice and mother Mhairi Smith said: "There is not a day that goes by that she is not in our thoughts and in our hearts."
