Zhenhao Zou, 28, who lived in south London, used online platforms and dating apps to meet women, inviting them to his home under the pretext of having drinks or studying before he drugged them.
He then filmed himself raping and sexually assaulting the women while they were unconscious, keeping some of their jewellery and clothing afterwards.
Zou was found guilty in March of 28 offences, including 11 counts of rape, after a trial at Inner London Crown Court. At Thursday's sentencing, he was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 24 years, minus time he had already spent in custody.
Judge Rosina Cottage said Zou was 'a highly manipulative and intelligent young man who gave no thought at all of the wishes and feelings of the women' he attacked.

Detective Inspector Richard MacKenzie from London's Metropolitan Police said outside court: 'The sheer scale of his offending, which spanned two countries, makes him one of the most prolific predators we have ever seen.'

Hongkongers wonder what Wang Junxia can bring to city, 29 years after Olympic gold

Hongkongers are questioning how former Olympic gold medallist Wang Junxia qualified for residency under the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, 29 years after the end of her controversial athletics career. Advertisement Wang and her 15-year-old daughter, Wang Danting, had their residency confirmed on Wednesday, sparking debate online as to how the former Chinese athlete, who still holds the 3,000 metre world record, could contribute to her new home. A large number of comments focused on the 52-year-old's history as part of a group of athletes known as the 'Ma Family Army'. Coached by the notorious Ma Junren, they dominated athletics in the early 1990s, only to later admit they had been forced to take 'large doses of illegal drugs over the years'. 'She was part of the Ma Family Army, is she coming to Hong Kong to teach doping?' one commentator said. Another comment questioned 'how much investment is she bringing to the city', before adding, 'don't tell me, she got nothing but was still approved'. How is she still? I suggested the Audit Commission or the ICAC and other departments investigate to check for any illegal behaviour,' another commentator said.

Hong Kong man, 74, found guilty of manslaughter for strangling daughter

An elderly man has been convicted of manslaughter for strangling his daughter in Hong Kong three years ago after a jury accepted he was provoked into committing the act. A High Court jury of three men and four women on Thursday unanimously cleared security guard Chan Kwai-sang, 74, of murdering his daughter Chan Hang-sze, 32, but convicted him of the lesser charge of manslaughter on the basis of her provocation. The trial heard the defendant had frequent quarrels with his daughter and ex-wife over trivial matters when they lived together at a flat in Mong Kok's Hoi Fu Court in the lead-up to the killing on March 7, 2022. According to the defendant, his jobless daughter, who had autism and bipolar disorder, prevented him from going to the toilet in the early hours that day, forcing him to use the kitchen instead. The victim later woke the accused and repeatedly blamed him for not flushing the toilet and putting his slippers in the incorrect place. The father claimed he was scolded for nearly two hours, during which his daughter also hit him with an umbrella eight to 10 times. The elder Chan said he had thought things over for an hour before strangling his daughter in her sleep before daybreak.
