Man Utd announce FURTHER increase in ticket prices despite suffering worst Premier League season in club's history
MANCHESTER UNITED have announced an increase in ticket prices despite finishing 15th in the Premier League last season.
That was their worst Prem finish in history, yet non-season ticket holders will be forced to dig deeper into their pockets for the upcoming campaign.

United have also introduced match categorisation for the first time for 2025/26.
That sees Prem fixtures split up into three categories, with cup tickets in a separate, and cheapest, slot costing £32-£52.
The three league categories are A, B and C, with the most expensive option costing £97.
That ticket falls under Category A which will be in place for six Prem matches, although the club state less than one per cent of tickets will cost £97.

The majority of matches will be included Category B, priced between £57-£86.
While just two league games, against Sunderland and Wolves, will be selected for the cheapest category, C, where prices range from £37 to £60.

The new pricing model means the average cost of a general admission match ticket is £46.51, compared to £41.41 for the 2024/25 campaign.

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk charged by FA over anti-doping rule violation
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged by the Football Association with violating anti-doping rules. The 24-year-old has not played since being handed a provisional suspension in December after he returned a positive test, reportedly for the banned substance meldonium. An FA statement said: 'We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with anti-doping rule violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of regulations three and four of the FA's anti-doping regulations. Mudryk started only once in the Premier League last season (Steven Paston/PA) 'As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.' Chelsea have been approached for comment. Earlier this month Mudryk's number 10 shirt was given to Cole Palmer for next season, leaving the Ukraine international without a squad number at Stamford Bridge. In a statement issued at the time of his suspension, Mudryk said the positive sample had come as 'a complete shock' and he had 'not done anything wrong,' with Chelsea adding the player had 'never knowingly used any banned substances'. The result was returned shortly after he had been away on international duty with Ukraine in November, during which time the banned substance is reported to have been administered. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca initially said the winger was unavailable through illness to explain a four-game period that he was absent from the team prior to the suspension being made public. Mudryk was introduced to Chelsea fans on the pitch at Stamford Bridge in January 2023 (Mike Egerton/PA) Mudryk last played for the club in a 2-0 win away to Heidenheim in the Conference League on November 28. He was then an unused substitute for the 3-0 Premier League win against Aston Villa three days later. His last appearance in the league came on November 10 as a second-half substitute in a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal. Mudryk's time at Stamford Bridge has been dogged by inconsistency on the pitch. Brief flourishes of talent have been interrupted by periods of limited impact while his finishing and delivery from wide have frustrated supporters since his £88million move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023. He has scored just 10 goals in 73 appearances in all competitions and has rarely held down a regular place in the team. Under Maresca his chances have been even more limited with most of his games coming in the cup competitions and in Europe, with just a single Premier League start in August's 6-2 win over Wolves.

Rory McIlroy's Old Trafford hopes as he looks forward to calmer test
Rory McIlroy hopes this week's Travelers Championship proves less of a grind as the Masters champion looks to get back into the groove ahead of The Open. It has not been the smoothest of returns to action for McIlroy, following his Augusta triumph in April, which completed a long-awaited career Grand Slam. The 36-year-old saw his driver ruled as 'non-conforming' ahead of last month's PGA Championship before he missed the cut at the Canadian Open. It was also tough going for McIlroy at the US Open over a punishing Oakmont course, where he battled to make it into the weekend before eventually tying for 19th. McIlroy, though, played his best golf of the week during Sunday's final round, where his three-under-par 67 was the joint best of the day. After playing at the Travelers Championship in Hartford, Connecticut, McIlroy will head back to the UK for a break before the Scottish Open and then mount his challenge for another Open crown at Royal Portrush in County Antrim. With plenty of background noise having again followed him at Oakmont, McIlroy hopes to be able to stay focused on the job in hand at the the final PGA Tour Signature Event of the season. 'I think the weeks after major championships in these events sometimes when you are in contention and you are trying to win them, it can feel quite difficult to go play the next week,' McIlroy told a press conference at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. 'After a week like I had at Oakmont, where you are not quite in the mix but you might feel you find something in your game, you are excited to come back and play again. 'This is the perfect sort of chaser for what Oakmont was last week, and nice to get out on a golf course where you feel you can make quite a few birdies.' McIlroy added: 'There's a lot of guys in the field this week where this is their fourth tournament in a row, so they have been put through the wringer the last few weeks. 'This is a welcome set-up where they feel like they can relax a little bit and not have to grind so much for your score.' World number two McIlroy is set to head out to India for the new DP Tour event during October as well as back to Melbourne for the Australian Open at the start of December. As to whether Manchester United fan McIlroy will get the chance to bring the Green Jacket to Old Trafford any time soon, that remains to be seen. 'Probably not. I don't know if I will have the opportunity. If I do have the opportunity, I would like to. Yeah, we will see,' McIlroy said. McIlroy will tee off alongside American Keegan Bradley on Thursday morning. World number one Scottie Scheffler will defend his Travelers Championship title and has been paired with newly-crowned US Open champion JJ Spaun for the opening round. 'I didn't have my best stuff last week but was still able to get a decent finish,' said Scheffler, who tied for seventh at Oakmont. 'I have felt good about my prep work so far this week and I'm excited to get the tournament started.'
