Tetteh briefs Presidential Council on Advisory Committee's outcomes
The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, and his deputies, Mossa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, held separate meetings on Sunday with the UN Special Representative, Hanna Tetteh, to discuss developments in the Libyan file and the outcomes and recommendations of the UN Mission's Advisory Committee, during which Tetteh handed over a copy of these outcomes to the Presidential Council.
In a statement, the UN Mission said that Tetteh briefed Menfi on the committee's work, which was tasked with presenting proposals and options to resolve contentious issues related to the elections.
Tetteh emphasized that the Advisory Committee's report, with its recommendations and options, would serve as a basis for dialogue with all relevant parties on a consensual roadmap leading to elections. She called on Menfi's team to submit their feedback and expressed her intention to consult with the widest possible cross-section of Libyan society.
The statement added that the discussions also stressed the critical importance of addressing human rights violations, including cases of enforced disappearance.
Tetteh, accompanied by her deputy Stephanie Koury, also held separate meetings with Presidential Council members Al-Lafi and Al-Koni, during which political and security developments and other related issues in Libya were discussed, according to the UN statement.
"The Special Representative briefed both officials on the outcomes of the Advisory Committee's work and presented an overview of the anticipated next steps, emphasizing the importance of constructive engagement by all Libyan parties in the upcoming phase. Tetteh also invited Al-Lafi and Al-Koni to share their views and assessments of the committee's recommendations.'
