Darren Criss, Renee Elise Goldsberry to host Tony Awards pre-show

May 28 (UPI) -- Darren Criss and Renée Elise Goldsberry will host The Tony Awards: Act One, a live pre-show leading up to the Tonys.
Criss, who has starred in Broadway productions of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and is nominated for his role in Maybe Happy Ending, and Goldsberry, a singer and actress who originated the role of Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway musical Hamilton, will host the show June 8 at 6:40 p.m. EDT on Pluto TV.
Criss and Goldsberry will present the first round of Tony Awards during the pre-show telecast.
The 78th annual Tony Awards will follow at 8 p.m. on CBS. The awards show will also stream on Paramount+.
Cynthia Erivo will host the event from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Sadie Sink, Sarah Snook, George Clooney, Bob Odenkirk, Nicole Scherzinger, Daniel Dae Kim and other stars are among this year's nominees.

The thriller film is based on the novel by Walter Mosley, who co-wrote the screenplay with director Nadia Latif. The trailer released Thursday begins with a loud knock at the door that awakens Charles Blakey (Hawkins). Anniston Bennet (Dafoe) stands on the doorstep of the home, located in 1994 Sag Harbor, New York. "I have it in mind to rent your basement for a couple months," Bennet says, emphasizing that he is "only interested in renting." "I'll pay you $1,000 a day for 65 days," he proposes. The money would enable Blakey to keep his home, which had been in his family a long time and was facing foreclosure. Bennet's arrival, however, brings "in a force much darker than" Blakey anticipated. "We're exploring mental health, trauma, exploitation, and yes, the nature of evil, but we're also dealing with legacy, lineage, home and love," Hawkins told Entertainment Weekly. "A script centered on blackness in middle-class Sag Harbor in the '90s is loaded with cultural significance." An official release date has not yet been shared.

Tom Felton to Reprise Draco Malfoy Role in ‘Harry Potter' on Broadway
Tom Felton, who rose to fame as Draco Malfoy in the 'Harry Potter' film franchise, is reprising his role as the boy wizard's blond archnemesis in the Broadway production of the show, for a limited engagement beginning in November. He will be making his Broadway debut with his turn in 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' — his first return to the character in 15 years — and will be in the show through March, according to a news release. Felton said in a statement on Wednesday that being part of the Harry Potter films had been one of the greatest honors of his life. 'Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in 'Cursed Child' this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play,' he said. 'It's surreal to be stepping back into his shoes — and of course his iconic platinum blond hair — and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world.' The Broadway show takes place 19 years after the original series ended. Draco is now a father, and all grown up with Harry, Ron and Hermione, send their children to Hogwarts. Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, producers for the show, said in a joint statement that Draco left an indelible impression on Harry Potter fans around world and that Felton's return to the franchise will offer Potterheads a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see him again. 'This moment is powerful on many levels,' they said, adding that the moment was charged with nostalgia, evolution and emotion. 'Tom's return to Hogwarts bridges generations of fans and breathes new life into a beloved story.' Since appearing in the 'Harry Potter' films, Felton has acted in the 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' and 'A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting' movies. He also made his West End debut in 2022, as the star of '2:22 A Ghost Story.'
