Who will wave the green flag at 2025 Indy 500? Jim Irsay's daughter is honorary starter
A familiar face to Indianapolis and the racing world will wave the green flag at the 109th Indy 500 on May 25.
Casey Foyt, the daughter of late Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay and the wife of A.J. Foyt IV, was tapped for the honor, Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced May 23.
Irsay-Foyt will wave the green flag after her father died at 65 on May 22. Her sister, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, is expected to assume control of the Colts' operations. Irsay-Gordon is expected to share ownership of the team with Foyt and another sister, Kalen Jackson, who have long held their own roles within the organization and were formally given the titles of vice chair/owners in 2012.

With hindsight being 20/20, who did the Indianapolis Colts select in Pro Football Focus' 2011 NFL redraft? With PFF using their grading system as their guide, they redrafted the entire first round. In this draft, following a 10-6 season in 2010 that ended in a loss in the wildcard round of the playoffs, the Colts held the 22nd overall pick and originally selected offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo. In this redraft, Castonzo went at pick 21 to Kansas City before the Colts were on the clock. So Indianapolis instead selected offensive tackle Nate Solder. "While the Colts would've loved the chance to select Castonzo again, they settle for Solder due to their original first-round pick coming off the board one pick earlier," wrote PFF. "Solder tallied an 81.6 career PFF overall grade and was a steady starter at tackle throughout his decade-long career." Solder was originally taken in the first round at 17th overall by New England. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion and played 10 seasons in the NFL, with seven of them coming with the Patriots. Solder appeared in 146 games, which included 143 starts. He was steadily one of PFF's higher graded offensive tackles for several years throughout his playing career. Castonzo, meanwhile, played all 10 of his NFL seasons with the Colts, which included making 144 starts. "Castonzo was very consistent in his 10-year NFL career. He logged 10,368 snaps at left tackle and earned a PFF overall grade of 76.0 or higher in all but two seasons — his first and his last, both between 73.0-74.0," wrote PFF. "He recorded an elite 90.8 PFF pass-blocking grade in 2014, his best season of work."

The Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian high four-star is not the biggest quarterback in the world but that's what everyone said about Kyler Murray, Bryce Young and so many others. In today's game, quarterback height is less important than ever before. Houston is a playmaker and even if a camp setting isn't the best for him, the four-star still delivered in a major way. TEDDY JARRARD - Atlanta Over the last few days, Jarrard has visited Purdue, Notre Dame and Clemson and heading into the Atlanta camp he had received offers from Georgia and Ohio State as the 2027 four-star from Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb is one of the hottest quarterbacks in the entire country. Advertisement The ball pops off Jarrard's hand. He has velocity, timing and everything else to back up all the attention he's received on the recruiting trail. The Atlanta Camp was loaded at quarterback and even though Jarrard didn't win the MVP award, he was definitely impressive and one of the best QBs at any Rivals regional camp. JAYCE JOHNSON - Atlanta Jeff McCulloch/ To beat out Teddy Jarrard, North Carolina commit Travis Burgess, Mississippi State pledge Brodie McWhorter and others for the MVP award, Johnson had a phenomenal performance at the Atlanta camp which was one of many this offseason. The 2027 four-star quarterback from Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes was sharp, showed off great arm talent, had a clean motion throughout the event and then seemed to get better and better throughout the camp. It was a close race at the top but Johnson edged out some other elite quarterbacks. RYDER LYONS - Los Angeles The five-star quarterback was fantastic as always at the Los Angeles stop and what's even more impressive is that a camp setting is not where Lyons does his best work. Advertisement The Folsom, Calif., standout sat in the pocket and zipped passes all over the field. He knows when to dial it back a little bit and has such an unreal feel for receivers and immediately having chemistry with them. Lyons is best when he can freelance a little bit, escape pressure and make magic happen and that's not a camp setting but he was still great. Oregon, BYU, Michigan and others continue after him. JAYDEN WADE - Los Angeles Jeff McCulloch/ It's hard to believe that Wade is a 2028 prospect because he has all the tools and is physically developed enough that it wouldn't be a shock to anyone if he reclassified because he doesn't need three more high school seasons. Advertisement He's now the guy at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy and he should shine because he is a special prospect who will clearly be under five-star consideration. Wade was arguably the best quarterback at the loaded Los Angeles event, which is always so deep at the position. Even still, the 2028 prospect stood out. He has the total package from decision-making to arm talent and beyond. Oregon, Texas and others have already made an impression.
