PEYTON HOUSTON - Dallas
Houston showed in Dallas that he has all the traits of an elite quarterback and it's why USC has made him its top priority in the 2027 class and many others, including Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M and LSU, are staying involved.
The Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian high four-star is not the biggest quarterback in the world but that's what everyone said about Kyler Murray, Bryce Young and so many others. In today's game, quarterback height is less important than ever before. Houston is a playmaker and even if a camp setting isn't the best for him, the four-star still delivered in a major way.
TEDDY JARRARD - Atlanta
Over the last few days, Jarrard has visited Purdue, Notre Dame and Clemson and heading into the Atlanta camp he had received offers from Georgia and Ohio State as the 2027 four-star from Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb is one of the hottest quarterbacks in the entire country.

The ball pops off Jarrard's hand. He has velocity, timing and everything else to back up all the attention he's received on the recruiting trail.
The Atlanta Camp was loaded at quarterback and even though Jarrard didn't win the MVP award, he was definitely impressive and one of the best QBs at any Rivals regional camp.
JAYCE JOHNSON - Atlanta
Jeff McCulloch/Rivals.com
To beat out Teddy Jarrard, North Carolina commit Travis Burgess, Mississippi State pledge Brodie McWhorter and others for the MVP award, Johnson had a phenomenal performance at the Atlanta camp which was one of many this offseason.
The 2027 four-star quarterback from Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes was sharp, showed off great arm talent, had a clean motion throughout the event and then seemed to get better and better throughout the camp. It was a close race at the top but Johnson edged out some other elite quarterbacks.
RYDER LYONS - Los Angeles
The five-star quarterback was fantastic as always at the Los Angeles stop and what's even more impressive is that a camp setting is not where Lyons does his best work.

The Folsom, Calif., standout sat in the pocket and zipped passes all over the field. He knows when to dial it back a little bit and has such an unreal feel for receivers and immediately having chemistry with them.
Lyons is best when he can freelance a little bit, escape pressure and make magic happen and that's not a camp setting but he was still great.
Oregon, BYU, Michigan and others continue after him.
JAYDEN WADE - Los Angeles
Jeff McCulloch/Rivals.com
It's hard to believe that Wade is a 2028 prospect because he has all the tools and is physically developed enough that it wouldn't be a shock to anyone if he reclassified because he doesn't need three more high school seasons.

He's now the guy at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy and he should shine because he is a special prospect who will clearly be under five-star consideration.
Wade was arguably the best quarterback at the loaded Los Angeles event, which is always so deep at the position. Even still, the 2028 prospect stood out. He has the total package from decision-making to arm talent and beyond.
Oregon, Texas and others have already made an impression.

Chennedy Carter Makes Statement After Big Chicago Sky Announcement

Chennedy Carter Makes Statement After Big Chicago Sky Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's been a rough start to the 2025 season for the Chicago Sky. Through seven games, the Sky have managed just two wins. Their latest outing, a home game against the Indiana Fever at the United Center, ended in a disappointing offensive performance with just 52 points scored. Advertisement Adding to their struggles, the team received devastating news about one of its top players. On Sunday evening, the Sky announced they will be down one of their top players for the rest of the 2025 season. "Courtney Vandersloot underwent an MRI yesterday that revealed a torn right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), an injury she sustained in the June 7th game against Indiana. Vandersloot will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season and undergo surgery to repair the injury. All of Skytown is behind you, Sloot!" the team said in a statement. With Vandersloot out, the franchise is now forced to evaluate long-term options to fill the void on the roster. One name that quickly surfaced is former Sky guard Chennedy Carter. Advertisement Shortly after the news broke, Carter posted a pointed message on her Threads account. "When the universe gives you signs you pay attention! What goes around always comes back around. When you have ugly in your heart the outcome will always backfire 🅿️🫵🏽Just wanna say pay attention to the universe. it's speaking to us 🏁." Former Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter (7).Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Chennedy Carter was drafted fourth overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream after a standout college career at Texas A&M. She later joined the Chicago Sky, where she played the best basketball of her pro career. During her lone season with the Sky, Carter appeared in 33 games and started 20. She posted career-highs across the board, averaging 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Advertisement After her WNBA stint, Carter signed with Wuhan Shengfan for the 2024-25 season and absolutely dominated. She led the league in scoring, averaging 31.4 points per game, including a monster 44-point outing. She scored her highest points in a game in November 2023 when she put up 51 points. She also recorded the league's first triple-double of the season, putting up 33 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists in a single game. Following her MVP season, Carter signed with Adelitas de Chihuahua, a Mexican League team. Now, with a roster spot open and Carter making noise on social media, the Sky may have an interesting decision to make. Whether a reunion is in the cards remains to be seen, but Carter has certainly made it clear, she's paying attention. A Lucky Seven List Of All-Time Rangers Hustlers

If you are enjoying the Stanley Cup Final, by now it must be apparent that the Panthers and Oilers have HUSTLE written all over them. Special Kudos to aging vets Corey Perry of Edmonton and Brad Marchand of Florida. Advertisement Over the years, the Ranger roster was sprinkled with Marchand-types who never stopped skating. The Maven's All-Time Rangers hustlers appear here in Chronological time: The Best Rangers Hustlers On The Team Currently The Best Rangers Hustlers On The Team Currently Enough with the talk about the deadwood core. Here's a short list of The Maven's favorite TRY HARD GUYS. 1. PHIL WATSON: It wasn't that "Phiery Phil" set up the 1940 Stanley Cup-winning goal for New York in 1940, but that didn't hurt. Watson's big mouth churned away as fast as his skates. Phil never wore a sign that read: BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED! 2. DEAN PRENTICE: Shamefully, the Hockey Hall of Fame has ignored one of the most consistent left wingers in history. Hall Of Fame right wing Andy Bathgate would have been the first to claim that Dean's hard work led to AB's HOF nomination. Advertisement 3. ANDY HEBENTON: GM Muzz Patrick's greatest discovery, Hebby was toiling with Tacoma in the Western League when Muzz signed him as a winger for the 1955-56 season. Andy scored a huge OT goal for New York and became an NHL iron man. 4. RED SULLIVAN: Nobody in Sully's time had more go-go in his system than the center who would become captain. Red was a ferret on the spoor of a hot puck and one of his other favorite targets was the Habs goalie; whenever Jacques Plante wandered. 5. LARRY POPEIN: Before Bathgate became a superstar, Andy needed a crafty center to help launch his career. "Pope" was the perfect pivot; as well as a superior skater who "read" Bathgate's moves as well as any. 6. JOHNNY WILSON: Once the dynamo behind Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay on the Dynastic Detroit Red Wings, Wilson – yet another iron man – was a hero on the 1961-62 Ranger club that made the playoffs under player-coach Doug Harvey. 7. NICK MICKOSKI: Groomed with the Rangers Eastern Amateur Hockey League's New York Rovers, "Bashful Nick Ready Top Click" wore his number 11 proudly. The Winnipeger's hustle did not result in any All-Star nominations but the fans – Maven included – loved the guy!

Cavaliers' Darius Garland has surgery on the injured left big toe that hampered him during playoffs

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) — Cavaliers guard Darius Garland had surgery Monday on the injured left big toe that hampered him during Cleveland's exit from the playoffs. The Cavaliers said the procedure was performed by Dr. Nicholas Strasser at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, in consultation with team physician Dr. James Rosneck and Dr. Bob Anderson. The All-Star guard missed the final two games of the regular season and four games during the playoffs with the injury, which was described as a sprain. 'Definitely wasn't myself. It was pretty uncomfortable but trying to do everything to win the game. It was frustrating because I wasn't 100 percent,' Garland said after the Cavaliers lost to the Indiana Pacers in five games in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Garland is expected to send 4 to 5 months going through a progression of treatment and rehabilitation before resuming basketball activities by the start of training camp. Garland averaged 20.6 points and 6.7 assists during the regular season to help the Cavs finish atop the Eastern Conference.
