Tuesdays with Gorney: Ten biggest pledges from the weekend
Jeff McCulloch/ There were 33 Power Four commitments on Saturday and Sunday as the wildly busy month of June kicked off, with many more trickling in Monday as players returned home from visits. Advertisement In today's Tuesdays With Gorney, Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney highlights 10 of the most important pledges over the weekend. RECRUITING RUMOR MILL: June kicks off with a bang | Baltimore | Detroit NEW RIVALS250 RELEASED: Ranking | Top storylines | Ten prospects who could rise with a big June CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker RIVALS CAMP SERIES: Rivals Five-Star heading back to Indy | Rivals Five-Star roster | Schedule/info MATAALI BENJAMIN - Minnesota Only a few months ago at the Rivals Camp Series stop in Los Angeles, Benjamin had Arkansas, Nebraska and Utah as his three front-runners with Oklahoma State also in the mix. Nary a word was mentioned about Minnesota. Advertisement But the Golden Gophers do great with players like Benjamin – huge offensive linemen who can use some tweaking and some weight on them to become even better players. At 6-foot-8 and 314 pounds, the three-star offensive lineman from Lehi (Utah) Skyridge is filled with potential that could be tapped within the Minnesota program. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MINNESOTA FANS AT G'NIVRE CARR - Florida A few weeks ago at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, Carr told Rivals national recruiting analyst John Garcia Jr. that he wanted to take his recruitment to December and that he wasn't in a rush to make a decision. Advertisement Over the weekend, he committed to Florida on his opening official visit of the month as the Gators beat out Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Colorado and many others. It could get interesting if Carr decides to take his other trips but the Gators landed a powerful interior offensive lineman who will help in Gainesville. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH FLORIDA FANS AT 1ST AND TEN FLORIDA GAVIN DAY - Washington A few months ago, USC had become a contender for Day after it offered the four-star safety from Las Vegas (Nev.) Faith Lutheran. Arizona, Iowa, Texas A&M and many others were involved but Washington emerged as the main contender prior to his visit. Advertisement There was some chatter that if things went well in Seattle, he would commit and that's exactly what happened. Day could be one of the next big defensive backs in a long line that have played for the Huskies. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH WASHINGTON FANS AT TYLER DUELL - Rutgers The Pennsylvania state rankings are loaded at the top with elite offensive linemen but Duell should not be overlooked as the four-star from West Chester (Pa.) West Chester East committed to Rutgers over Cincinnati, Kentucky, Pittsburgh and others over the weekend. At 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, Duell can push people around and he also has great athleticism to get to the second level. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH RUTGERS FANS AT ELISHA FAAMATUANIU - Cal Arizona State was a major early contender but Cal continued to pursue the Murrieta (Calif.) Murrieta Valley high three-star offensive lineman and his connection to position coach Famika Anae was a big selling point in his weekend commitment to the Golden Bears. Faamatuaniu stepped up his game in a big way at the recent Rivals Camp Series in Los Angeles and he has position versatility so he can be used all over in Berkeley. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH CAL FANS AT DOMINIC HARRIS - Washington Fresh off a visit to Auburn that went really well and with Oregon, Arizona and UNLV making a serious push for the versatile high three-star offensive tackle from Las Vegas (Nev.) Clark, Harris committed to Washington during his weekend trip. Advertisement The Huskies were always in the forefront of his recruitment but it was expected he might take more visits before deciding. Harris is massive at 6-foot-7 and 320 pounds, but it wouldn't be a shock if he played inside. CARTER LUCKIE - Georgia His brother, Lawson, plays at Georgia. His father and two uncles played for Georgia. It always felt inevitable that the four-star defensive end from Norcross, Ga., would end up playing for the Bulldogs and his commitment happened over the weekend on yet another trip to Athens. Luckie was just on campus for the recent Scavenger Hunt and his relationship with position coach Tray Scott was big as well. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT DANIEL MCMORRIS - Minnesota Despite being from Norman (Okla.) North, Oklahoma never offered McMorris as the long-time Minnesota lean picked the Golden Gophers over Oregon State, Tulsa, Kansas State and Iowa State over the weekend. There are some traits here that we love as McMorris is 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds so he's not completely filled out yet, plus he has really long arms. All that should bode well in the coming years. TYRELL SIMPSON - Rutgers His father played at Maryland and his brother went to Duke but neither program ended up offering the high three-star offensive lineman from Leland (N.C.) North Brunswick. That is to Rutgers' gain as his relationship with the coaching staff there played a huge role in his commitment as the Scarlet Knights loaded up over the weekend with six pledges. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH RUTGERS FANS AT PRINCE TAVIZON - Oregon A couple weeks ago at the Long Beach Millikan Tournament of Champions, Tavizon was not hiding his favorites: Oregon was the front-runner and the Ducks would be tough to beat and then there was also serious interest in USC. But the 2027 four-star from San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln was always leaning toward the Ducks and on his weekend visit, he committed. As an edge rusher or a linebacker, Tavizon brings a ton of versatility to that defense. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT

Five prospects poised to climb in the next rankings update
May was full of top camps and some of the best prospects in the nation were out and about, showing off their skills. Plenty of players who may not be highly ranked showed they deserve more recognition. Check out five prospects who are going to see their stock rise when the rankings are updated again. Advertisement MORE: Multiple five-stars, blue-chippers hitting Miami for official visit weekend CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker RIVALS CAMP SERIES: Rivals Five-Star heading back to Indy | Rivals Five-Star roster | Schedule/info The 2027 class of quarterbacks in Georgia looks pretty special and Jarrad is one of the best. Arm strength, accuracy, timing and touch – Jarrad showed all of the tools in his toolbox at the Rivals Camp Series event earlier this month in Atlanta. Advertisement With a big frame and a strong skill set, Jarrad is expected to see a big jump in the 2027 rankings. Johnson is already a top-30 prospect in the 2027 Rivals250 but his MVP performance at the Rivals Camp Series in Atlanta was awfully impressive. The potential the Georgia native displayed should push him even higher in the rankings. The 6-foot-4 Johnson can throw with touch, timing, power and consistently hit his receivers in stride. Expect him to challenge for a fifth star in the next rankings update. Putting the cornerback vs. safety debate aside, a three-star rating for Odem is clearly too low. The strong, athletic and explosive defensive back has the football instincts and anticipatory skills to be an outstanding playmaker at the next level. Advertisement Odem has the long arms NFL evaluators want along with the tools and techniques to be effective in coverage. He is a well-rounded defender as well, showing the physicality to be an asset in run defense. At the All-American Bowl earlier this year, Osenda left a lot to be desired but it seems like things have started to click for the Tennessee commit. At the Rivals Camp Series event in Atlanta this month, the towering offensive tackle weighed in at 330 pounds, much lighter than he was earlier this year, and he was much more effective on the field. Osenda's technical abilities, quickness and raw strength helped him earn the MVP award at the camp and now his stock is rising. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TENNESSEE FANS AT Scruggs has been one of the most active offseason participants in the last month. He was one of the best players at the Rivals Camp Series in Dallas and then won the MVP award at the New Jersey Under Armour camp this past weekend. Likely an interior offensive lineman at the next level, Scruggs has a frame that can carry plenty of additional muscle mass but he is already very strong at this stage of his development. He plays with an aggressive streak and uses solid hand placement to keep defensive linemen in front of him. Scruggs has the foot speed and technique to keep rising up the rankings as he continues to challenge himself this offseason.

Rivals Camp Series: Commitment predictions from the Dallas regional
COPPELL, Texas – There were a ton of elite uncommitted prospects at Sunday's Rivals Camp Series stop in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. We make some predictions here. RIVALS CAMP SERIES DALLAS: Position MVPs | Ranking the QBs | Rumor Mill | Programs that should be pleased | Rankings impact NEW 2026 RIVALS250 RELEASED: Ranking | Gorney goes position-by-position | Toughest decisions CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker It's way too early to make a call here, but Oregon is setting the pace for the touted 2027 defensive lineman. Brewster made his first visit to Eugene last month and the Ducks continue to set the tempo in this recruitment. Advertisement Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma have all hosted the four-star DL and will continue to stay on Brewster moving forward. Prediction: Oregon SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT Brown is one of the country's best out of the Sooner State and is coveted by the Sooners in addition to college football bluebloods around the country. Brown has made more trips to the Palace early on and we like where Oklahoma stands long-term here. Prediction: Oklahoma SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OKLAHOMA FANS AT The Longhorns just put an offer on the table for Caldwell, who's been down to the Forty Acres a ton over the years and will return again on June 1. Texas is battling Texas A&M, LSU and Oregon for the blue-chipper in the 2027 Rivals250 and has an early leg up moving forward. Advertisement Prediction: Texas SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TEXAS FANS AT I have an early FutureCast on the Sooners in the race for the four-star edge defender. Alabama and others have closed the gap significantly after Ford made visits across the country this spring. Oklahoma has made Ford a top priority in this 2026 class. Prediction: Oklahoma This has the makings of a Red River recruitment and we give the slightest edge to the Longhorns. Mayo was part of Texas' star-studded junior day earlier this spring and has continued trend high in this recruitment. Prediction: Texas The finish line is in sight for Scruggs. If a decision were made today, I like where Clemson sits. Penn State and Michigan are both after the Virginia offensive lineman, who will also officially visit Georgia last before locking in his commitment. Advertisement Prediction: Clemson SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH CLEMSON FANS AT Williams is coveted by programs around the country, but the in-state programs have an early leg on the four-star linebacker from Arlington, Texas. SMU has hosted Williams more than any program to date, and the Mustangs are standing strong early on. Prediction: SMU SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH SMU FANS AT

Tuesdays with Gorney: Recapping a busy weekend of major commits
It was not a blockbuster weekend of commitments but there were still some major ones all the way through Monday when a five-star quarterback came off the board . In today's Tuesdays With Gorney, Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney gives his thoughts on each one here. MORE ON JARED CURTIS: Recruiting ripple effect | What this means for UGA | Top recruits react | Behind the scenes RIVALS CAMP SERIES DALLAS: Position MVPs | Ranking the QBs | Rumor Mill | Programs that should be pleased NEW 2026 RIVALS250 RELEASED: Ranking | Gorney goes position-by-position | Toughest decisions Throughout the latter part of his recruitment, Colman-Brusa remained steadfast that he was still open to all programs and after important visits to Ohio State and Oregon in recent weeks, it looked like the four-star edge rusher was open to others. But Washington was always going to be the program to beat since the Burien (Wash.) Kennedy standout lives just miles from campus. His brother, Lowen , already plays for the Huskies and that coaching staff has made him a priority as well. Big and strong off the edge or coming from the middle, Colman-Brusa has speed and power. He can play anywhere across the defensive line. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH WASHINGTON FANS AT JARED CURTIS - Georgia After an early commitment to Georgia , Curtis backed off his pledge not because he had a falling out with the Bulldogs but because he wanted to go through his recruitment with an open mind. South Carolina emerged as a real contender along with many others but then it narrowed back down to Georgia and Oregon. On Monday evening, the five-star quarterback from Nashville (Tenn.) Nashville Christian picked the Dawgs again. It's another huge win for Georgia as Curtis is one of the top quarterbacks in the class and it's always so difficult to get an elite player re-committed. Oregon offered a ton and there was a time where it looked like the Ducks had the edge but after numerous visits, being sold on playing in the SEC, closer to home and reinforcing why he committed there in the first place, coach Kirby Smart and his staff won out again. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT KAYDEN DIXON-WYATT - Ohio State In late March, the high four-star receiver told me that Ohio State was No. 1 on his list followed by Oregon. Georgia, Texas and USC rounded out a top five but it was essentially a two-team race for the Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei star receiver. Heading into Sunday's decision, it appeared that the Ducks might have eclipsed the Buckeyes, especially after a great visit back to Eugene. But that was not the case as Ohio State won out again. In front of five-star teammate and fellow Ohio State pledge Chris Henry Jr. and many others, Dixon-Wyatt picked the Buckeyes. The rich get only richer as they have an absolutely loaded receiver class again. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT HUDSON DUNN - Minnesota This is an under-the-radar great commitment for Minnesota . Early on, Michigan and Oregon were the front-runners for Dunn and then Arizona State looked like the team to beat for the high three-star edge rusher from Peoria (Ariz.) Liberty. But the Golden Gophers continued to have a great relationship with Dunn. He visited over the weekend and was sold. A back-to-back state champion, Dunn had 57 tackles and 13.5 sacks last season. Even though he's a little undersized as an edge rusher he's super fast and productive. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MINNESOTA FANS AT BRAYLON EDWARDS - SMU When SMU coach Rhett Lashlee talked to Rivals during signing day, he made it clear that he wanted to lock up the top talent in the Dallas Metroplex and that's why Edwards is so big. The three-star cornerback can run with anybody, does a great job redirecting and then making a play on the ball. He is coming to the Mustangs from the loaded Duncanville program. SMU also beat out Auburn and North Carolina for Edwards and winning those huge recruiting battles is crucial as the Mustangs look to return to the College Football Playoff. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH SMU FANS AT MATTHIEU LAMAH - Penn State Sometimes, going where you're wanted and feel most comfortable is all that's needed. That was the feeling from the three-star linebacker from Nokesville (Va.) Patriot as Lamah (formerly Kanu) picked the Nittany Lions on Monday over Kentucky , Michigan, North Carolina, Rutgers and Virginia Tech . Lamah has developed an outstanding relationship with coach James Franklin, position coach Dan Connor and others. After 137 tackles, three sacks and three forced fumbles last season, production is not an issue with Lamah and we'll give a second look at his ranking moving forward. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH PENN STATE FANS AT DEMETRICE MCCRAY - Pitt The new Pitt receiver commit does an excellent job of changing up his speeds first to set up a cornerback and lull him to sleep and then accelerate by him for some big gainers. The three-star receiver only had 31 catches in his junior season but seven went for touchdowns. He has some game-breaker ability in the open field. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH PITT FANS AT ALJOUR MILES II - SMU Oklahoma State made a big move recently after a great visit to Stillwater and Oklahoma looked like the team to beat for Miles. That's why it's even bigger that SMU won out for Miles over the weekend. A four-star receiver outside the Rivals250, Miles is the first receiver in SMU's class but it's a strong group of skill players with Miles, RB Christian Rhodes and QB Cole Leinart leading the way. JASE REYNOLDS - Nebraska Reynolds has better tape than his offer list indicates. Maybe it was because a lot of programs didn't want to go through the effort since Nebraska was always the front-runner for the three-star from Elkhorn (Neb.) Elkhorn North or maybe because Reynolds just slipped through the cracks, but the Huskers are getting a good one. The local prospect (he lives about an hour away from Lincoln) had more than 90 tackles in his junior season. He can come off the edge or play in space and he does a great job reading and then quickly reacting, whether it's knocking down a pass or coming up to make the tackle. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NEBRASKA FANS AT DAMARIUS YATES - Ole Miss Mississippi State landed an early commitment in the fall from Yates but by December, the four-star running back from De Kalb (Miss.) Kemper County backed off that pledge. His teammate, Mario Nash , ended up at Florida State and it looked like the Seminoles, Nebraska and others emerged as the favorites. Over the last few months, though, and after a concerted effort from the Ole Miss coaching staff including coach Lane Kiffin, Yates committed to the Rebels following a weekend visit. With more than 2,000 all-purpose yards last season, Yates should see opportunities to get the ball in Oxford. He is the second RB in the Ole Miss class, joining four-star Ja'Michael Jones .
