Reason for Meghan Markle's controversial use of HRH title revealed by source
Meghan Markle faced a scandal this week after using the HRH title in a gift basket she sent to a friend some time ago. Meghan and Prince Harry previously agreed not to use the title when they stepped back from royal duties. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced in January of 2020 they would be stepping back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family. Shortly after their announcement, some of the family attended the so-called Sandringham Summit, which is said to have involved discussions about their future, reported The Mirror. Later, it was revealed the couple would retain their Her Royal Highness and His Royal Highness titles, which are abbreviated to HRH. However, it was agreed Prince Harry and Meghan would not "actively" use these royal titles. A statement on the couple's website said at the time the Duke and Duchess would "retain" their HRH titles. But Prince Harry and Meghan indeed stated they would no longer "actively" use them after the change in their roles. Their statement read: "As agreed and set out in January, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will retain their 'HRH' prefix, thereby formally remaining known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer actively use their HRH titles as they will no longer be working members of the family as of Spring 2020." A statement from Buckingham Palace at the time read similarly: "The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family . [...] This new model will take effect in the Spring of 2020." But this week has seen controversy on the subject over the news Meghan used HRH on a note that was part of a hamper gifted to podcast host Jamie Kern Lima. The note read: "With the compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex." Her friend Jamie shared a photo of the hamper, including the note, on an episode of her podcast the Jamie Kern Lima Show that featured Meghan as a guest. She also spoke about the gift in the episode, which was released yesterday. Jamie said the hamper from Meghan included ice cream and homemade jam sauce. She said the hamper had been given to her some time ago during a challenging time to "see if that helps lighten [her] load". An insider revealed Prince Harry and Meghan retained their HRH titles but do not use them for commercial purposes and don't use the publicly. "While they do not publicly use 'HRH', this was a personal gift and their titles remain," they said. It's been reported it was sent to Jamie over a year ago. In a teaser for the podcast, in which Meghan discusses her new As Ever brand, Jamie states: "I have had your jam in my refrigerator all year." A source suggested to the Daily Mail recently that the photo shared by Jamie was taken before Meghan launched As Ever last month.

Why Lyse Doucet ditched EastEnders: EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE
The King may have suspended his bid to remove brother Andrew from Royal Lodge but the Crown Estate, which owns the property, is losing patience with the disgraced prince. It appears that Andrew, who paid upwards of £7.5million on renovations when given a 75-year lease in 2003, has maintained the interior but there is a rumbling dispute about who is responsible for extensive external repairs to the 30-room mansion. Andrew should be safe until 2028. He is entitled to a partial rebate on his outgoings if given the order of the boot at the end of his first 25 years of his lease. The Princess of Wales and her sister Pippa are both accomplished flautists and played in a group called the Tootie-Flooties. Couldn't the roof of Buckingham Palace be made available for a one off concert with Donald and the Tootie-Flooties? David Beckham has finally picked up his long-coveted K, although it was the lowest grade on offer – a Knight Bachelor. The King is notoriously parsimonious when handing out his own higher grade Ks. At the weekend he announced just one Royal Victorian K and Garter Day yesterday saw no new knights appointed despite there being four vacancies in the elite 24-member body. Asked on Radio 4 what she watched on TV to de-stress she replied: ' EastEnders. But I had to stop because Albert Square was more dangerous than anywhere else. They were killing each other and threatening to kill each other and it stressed me out.' Maybe she should try The Archers. No killings there since 1957 when Tom Forrest accidentally shot a poacher. Meghan Markle makes veiled dig at royals about 'truth' in explosive interview
Meghan Markle has opened up about how she would rewrite her public narrative given the chance in a brand new podcast inerview - and appeared to take aim at the royals Meghan Markle has appeared to make a subtle dig at the Royal Family in her latest explosive podcast interview. The Duchess of Sussex was quizzed on her public image in an appearance on the Aspire by Emma Grede podcast, where she also discussed setting up her own As Ever lifestyle brand, as well as what drives her career goals. At one point during the hour-and-a-half sit-down chat, Emma, the co-founder of jeans brand Good American with Khloe Kardashian, asks Meghan about how her fame makes her instantly recognisable. She tells the Duchess: "I wanted to ask you a little bit about the public narrative, because when you sign up to be an actress, you know that people are going to start recognising you, they're going to start speaking to you on the street. But that's very different from what you have now. And Meghan replies: "It is, Emma! It's very different" before laughing. Emma follows up with: "If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything that you would do differently?" To which Meghan says: "Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth." She adds: "You go through those chapters and you do a lot of work. You do a lot of selfwork and go, what's the why? It's happening for a reason." She adds: "My dear friend Serena, who I'm sure you know.. she says a lie can't live forever. Eight years is a long time but not forever." Her comment about telling the truth comes after Meghan has previously accused the palace of "perpetuating falsehoods" about her during her time as a working royal. In her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, the chat show host asked her: "How do you feel about the palace hearing you speak your truth today?" And Meghan said: "I don't know how they could expect that, after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us." Meanwhile, elsewhere in the podcast, Meghan b roke her silence on her controversial twerking video with a defiant response. The Duchess of Sussex raised eyebrows when she shared a clip of her and Prince Harry dancing around a hospital room in a bid to bring on labour while Meghan was in the later stages of pregnancy with Princess Lilibet. The candid video, which runs for more than a minute, features the song 'Baby Mamma' and sees Harry beckoned in by Meghan as the pair dance together, with the duke appearing at the end with the hood of his grey hoodie up as he continues his dance moves. Meghan, wearing a black maternity dress, cradles her large bump as she dances, as well as lifting her skirt above her knees, raising her hands in the air and wiggling low with her hands on her hips and legs. The Duchess had not addressed the reaction to the now-viral clip - until now. Meghan tells Emma about being authentic to be successful, before asking the host: "Did you see my 'Baby Momma' dance?" Emma, who is also a founding partner of Kim Kardashian's successful brand Skims, revealed: "We maybe watched it like 20 times yesterday, and I was like, is that, is that her? Is that Prince Harry there with the fingers…I was like, okay…good on Harry, let's go. But that's you, right? Like that's you in a way that we kind of haven't been able to see you before." "And I did like a little secret cheer, cause I was like, well, that's what I kind of want to see from you. Like I wanna see that happiness and that honesty and that 'I don't give a f***' kind of thing." And breaking her silence on the clip, Meghan explained: "That was four years ago. So it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that's happening behind the scenes." "I'm just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms." The newpodcast interview comes after Meghan took to social media just yesterday to share a heartfelt Father's Day tribute to her husband, featuring rare never-before-seen footage of the couple's two children. Meghan posted a video to Instagram showing Harry alongside Archie and Lilibet, set to the song Have It All by Jason Mraz. 'The best,' she captioned her post. 'Happy Father's Day to our favorite guy.' The compilation showed photos and videos of Harry laughing, dancing and spending quality time with his children through the years. The Duchess made her social media return in early 2025 and regularly shares personal milestones and professional updates through her Instagram account.

Meghan Markle takes subtle swipe at royal family in latest podcast appearance as she's asked what she would do differently to 'rewrite the public narrative
Meghan Markle appears to have taken yet another pop at the Royal Family after she pointedly said that she wanted people to 'tell the truth' about her. The Duchess of Sussex says she can now celebrate being her 'real' and 'authentic' self, especially after returning to Instagram. Meghan was speaking to her friend and fellow podcaster Emma Grede, British-born CEO of fashion brand Good American and a founding partner of Kim Kardashian 's Skims line. Emma asked her: 'If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything you would do differently?'. Meghan wore a determined look and replied: 'Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth'. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, made the remarks in an upcoming episode of Aspire With Emma Grede, which was released this morning. Royal watchers also noticed that she was wearing $15,000 Birks 2.15ct Snowflake Snowstorm Diamond earrings that she wore no less than nine times to royal events before she and Harry quit as frontline royals. They first appeared on the eve of the royal wedding in 2018. Her 'truth' comments will raise eyebrows in royal circles. Meghan was accused of bullying by two Buckingham Palace aides. 'There are plenty of people who worked with Harry and Meghan in those difficult years who would love to tell the truth about what happened to them', one royal insider claimed to MailOnline today. One former staffer, who had to sign a confidentiality agreement, previously urged the palace to lift non-disclosure agreements so they could respond to 'attacks' on the royal household from the Sussexes after they emigrated to the US. The appearance marks Meghan's second long-form podcast interview in recent months and follows the season finale of her own show, Confessions of a Female Founder, which wrapped up two weeks ago. In their conversation, Meghan discusses the launch of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and reveals how its signature raspberry jam, which she calls fruit spread, sold out almost immediately after launch, and was inspired by her personal garden. She also touches on the difficulties of building a business in the spotlight, where even the smallest change can garner public attention. Reflecting on her entrepreneurial spirit, Meghan recalls her earliest foray into business as a young girl, when she made and sold homemade scrunchies to her classmates. And the interview also touches on Meghan's now-viral 'Baby Mama' dance clip, which she shared earlier this month on Instagram to mark daughter Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday. The short video, taken during her labour with Lilibet, shows Meghan dancing along to Starrkeisha's viral TikTok anthem while heavily pregnant, with Prince Harry making a cameo in the background. It sparked a flurry of reactions online, but Meghan now says it was all about reclaiming joy and being real with her audience. 'You have to be authentic,' she tells Grede. 'Did you see my "Baby Momma" dance? That was four years ago. So it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life - a real, authentic, fun life - that's happening behind the scenes.' She adds that she's 'grateful' to be back on social media, saying it finally gives her a platform to share 'on her own terms.' Meghan's return to podcasting comes as part of a broader media push, following the official launch of As Ever. The Duchess's pointed remarks about image and authenticity will no doubt spark conversation - particularly as she continues to carve out a brand separate from the House of Windsor. The candid interview comes just after Meghan shared her most intimate glimpse at family life in Montecito, California, yet. In light of Father's Day in the UK yesterday, Meghan hared a tribute post for her husband, Prince Harry, who is the father to their two young children, Archie, six, and Lilibet with clear views of the children's faces throughout the video. Though the couple have previously chosen to shield their children's faces from social media, their guards appear to be dropping as Meghan shared a string of revealing clips of her family to her nearly four million followers. The insights didn't stop there, and the mother of two displayed some of Harry's most special moments with his children to mark the occasion. She captioned the clip, which was accompanied by Jason Mraz's Have It All playing in the background, 'The best. Happy Father's Day to our favourite guy.' The clip started with 40-year-old Harry lying down with his newborn child on his chest as he gently stroked their fingers before moving on to a snippet of him playing ball on the front drive with Archie. Moments later came another newborn clip showing a sweet memory of Harry holding his child up to the camera as they smiled at one another. Meghan followed the clip with a photograph of Harry and Lilibet walking barefoot through sun-drenched sand as they held each other's hands.
