Donald Trump accused of 'throwing shade' at Prince Harry and Meghan with cryptic quip
Donald Trump talked about his admiration for the Royal Family during a press conference in Scotland - but some were left convinced his words were a swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Donald Trump has been accused of taking another swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - this time on his trip to Scotland. The US president has been visiting his golf courses in both Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire over the last few days - and also holding talks with the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. The pair took part in a joint press conference, where Trump fielded questions on a range of topics as the PM watched on. At one point in the proceedings, Trump began to talk about his love of the Royal Family, with King Charles set to host him on a state visit in the coming weeks. He said: "Being with Charles, Camilla and everybody, I've got to know a lot of the family members. They are great people. They are really great people." However, he followed up with: "And in that sense, I think the UK is very lucky, you could have people that weren't great people. I don't know if I can say that, but you could have people that weren't." And to some on social media, they took his words as "calling out" Harry and Meghan, with Trump known to not be a fan of the Sussexes. Harry has long been berated by Trump since he and Meghan took the dramatic decision to quit as working royals and move to the United States more than four years ago. Back in 2020, at the time of the last US election campaign between Mr Trump and Joe Biden, the Sussexes appeared in a video urging Americans to 'vote against hate speech'. While they did not specifically mention anyone by name, the remarks were interpreted as referring to Mr Trump and therefore an endorsement of Mr Biden, with some claiming it was a breach of the Sandringham Summit agreement, which was written up when the couple quit their royal duties in 2020. Later, Mr Trump spoke out, saying he was "no fan" of Meghan. Fast forward to earlier this year, Harry has found himself in the centre of a row over his visa, which allows him to live in California. After admitting to using marijuana, cocaine and psychedelic mushrooms in his controversial memoir Spare, a lawsuit from the conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation argued that the US Government should release records about the Duke's US visa application to show whether his drug use was disclosed. Back in February, Trump ruled out deporting Harry, he took a brutal dig at Harry's wife, Meghan, saying: "I'll leave him alone. He's got enough problems with his wife. She's terrible." And Harry appeared to hit back during a speech at the Invictus Games by criticising the "weak moral character in the world". After the royals' summer break, Trump will be hosted by the King and Queen at Windsor Castle during his unprecedented second state visit to the UK. The US president will be accompanied by his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, on his state visit to the UK from September 17 to 19, Buckingham Palace said. This will be Mr Trump's second state visit to the UK – an unprecedented gesture towards an American leader, having previously been feted by a state visit in 2019. In February this year, Keir Starmer presented the US president with a letter from the King as he invited him for the visit during a meeting at the White House. As the pair were sat next to each other in the Oval Office, Sir Keir handed the president the personal invitation, later saying, 'This is truly historic and unprecedented'. After reading it, Mr Trump said it was a 'great, great honour', adding 'and that says at Windsor – that's really something'.

'I was on receiving end of Prince Harry outburst and he looked really patronising'
A royal expert has revealed a run-in she had with Prince Harry while he was a working royal and how a seemingly simple question blew up into an angry exchange A royal correspondent has opened up about how she was on the receiving end of an outburst from Prince Harry after asking him a seemingly simple question. Before Harry and wife Meghan Markle quit their royal roles to move to California, they completed two royal tours together, one to Australia and New Zealand shortly after their wedding, and then one to Southern Africa in 2019. The trip to Africa saw the couple take young son Archie to South Africa, with Harry also going solo to both Angola and Malawi. The tour was seen as somewhat of a turning point for the Sussexes as they mulled over their future. Covering that tour was Sky News Royal Editor Rhiannon Mills, who was in Malawi with Harry and decided to ask him a question at the end of an engagement. Mills had previously struck up a rapport with the Duke of Sussex after interviewing him for TV during his solo trip to New Zealand several years before. She told The Sun's Royal Exclusive show that she decided, as he walked to his car, to ask him why it was important for him to come here - but was quickly given a short shrift. She explained: "It was a terrible question. It was a rubbish question. I just sort of said, 'oh, why is it so important for you to come here?' And he looked at me and said, 'oh, well, just go and ask those people over there'. And I probably inside thought, hang on a minute, I'm not gonna leave this one. "I said, well, is that why it's so important for you to come here? And then he turned around and just said, 'Rhiannon, don't behave like that'. And then got in his car and drove off. I felt like I'd looked like an idiot. He looked really patronising. Nobody came out of it looking good. Anyway, it all blew up with his team. They were livid." After the exchange, Harry and the rest of the royal press pack travelled back to Johannesburg, where the couple dropped a bombshell statement that they were to launch legal proceedings against a UK newspaper. And Mills added: "Immediately I just realised, I frankly kicked the bear and I just didn't realise it at the time." Shortly after the couple's return to the UK after that trip, a documentary aired on ITV detailing their visit to Africa. In it, Harry talked about his rift with William for the first time, while new mum Meghan revealed nobody had asked her if she was OK. Afterwards, it was revealed that Meghan and Harry would be taking several weeks off from royal duties, and they later spent Christmas 2019 in Canada. Just weeks later, following the Sandringham Summit, it was revealed the pair would be stepping down as senior royals and they've since carved out a life for themselves and their children in the United States.

Meghan and Harry 'broke Queen's heart and made final years a misery'
A royal biographer has claimed that when Prince Harry and his wife Meghan left life as working royals behind and then went public with their grievances against the rest of the Royal Family they broke the late Queen's heart and "made her final years a misery" New allegations have emerged from a royal insider that the late Queen and her inner circle had major "doubts" about Meghan before she even married Prince Harry - and experts have weighed in on their significance. Author and journalist Sally Bedell Smith made the revelations on her Substack, Royal Extra, which included claims that one of the late Queen's cousins and closest confidants - Lady Elizabeth Anson - had divulged that the former monarch had serious "doubts" about Meghan ahead of the Sussex's royal wedding in 2018. The close pal of the late Queen claimed that Meghan had been rude to the former monarch in one 10-minute discussion about the couple's nuptials and that within the royal circle, they hoped Meghan loved Harry, but were not totally sure, with some even believing she "engineered" things between them. Meghan and Harry announced in early 2020 that they wanted to step back as full-time working royals, and "carve out a progressive new role" for themselves by becoming financially independent from taxpayer funding, and representing the crown on a part-time basis. Their dream wasn't to come to fruition, however, with the late Queen, the other senior royals, and palace aides, quickly vetoing a half-in, half-out model at what became infamously known as the Sandringham Summit. With a full break to be instituted after a transition year, the Sussexes were shocked when their police security was suddenly pulled - with borders rapidly closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the location of where they were staying in Canada public knowledge, they felt like sitting ducks. The cost of the kind of private security the Sussex family needs is astronomically high, with Harry revealing in his memoir Spare that one company quoted him a price of several million per year to protect his family. Unable to immediately foot such a big bill, Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry offered the family his LA home and security detail until they found their feet - and within months, they had signed multi-million-pound deals with Netflix, Spotify, and publishing house Penguin. However, existing tensions between Harry and the rest of his family were only becoming more strained with the couple outside the fold. In 2021, the couple sat down for their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which they levied a series of damaging allegations at some of the other royals, and their staff - and only a few weeks later, Harry's grandfather, Prince Philip, passed away. Royal biographer Phil Dampier explained to The Sun's Royal Exclusive show that in light of the new allegations, the couple's acrimonious royal exit, and the airing of public grievances, in his view, Harry and Meghan - along with the disgraced Duke of York - made the late Queen's final years a "misery" and that this is something the British public, with whom the former monarch enjoyed a great popularity, are not likely to "forgive". 'It must have been absolutely heartbreaking for her to see what was happening with Prince Andrew and what was happening with Harry and Meghan leaving in her final years," the expert said. "To cope with that as she was approaching the end, and Prince Philip died, and all this happened right at the end of her life. I think it must have been absolutely heartbreaking for her... probably the thing that people won't forgive Harry and Meghan for making her last years a bit of a misery." Meghan Markle's 'commitment failure' left key royal furious after huge sacrifice
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dramtically announced they were quitting their royal roles - one key royal was apparently disappointed with Meghan's 'commitment' It's no secret that marrying into the royal family comes with a huge level of responsibility and sacrifice, with no modern royal understanding this burden more than the late Prince Philip. Before he became the Duke of Edinburgh when he married Queen Elizabeth in 1947, Philip gave up his birth citizenship, his naval career and even his surname. As he was happy to live on the sidelines next to the late Queen Elizabeth while he still attended royal events and focused on his own philanthropic efforts, it's no wonder he expected the same level of dedication from others marrying into the royal family. But according to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, Philip took particular umbrage with Meghan Markle and her unwillingness to fully devote every aspect of her life to the Firm when she married Prince Harry in 2018. Speaking to Sky News in 2020, Ingrid said: 'I think he's very, very disappointed because I think he feels he gave up his naval career in order to stand by the Queen and help the monarchy. 'And why can't Meghan just give up her acting career, support her husband and support the monarchy? He just cannot understand why she couldn't support Harry and help him rather than wanting to have her voice.' According to Ingrid, after Harry and Meghan announced they wanted to step down as working royals in January 2020 and the late Queen had called a summit in Sandringham to try to resolve the family crisis, Philip opted not to be a part of the talks about the Sussexes' future outside of the monarchy. The meeting was attended by the late Queen Elizabeth, Prince Harry, Prince William and the then Prince Charles, while Princess Kate, Camilla and Prince Philip did not attend. Meghan was reportedly outraged that she was unable to go to the meeting as she was in Canada with baby Archie. Seward claims that the late Duke just wanted to wash his hands of the whole affair, as she said: 'Of course, it irritates him hugely. And when they had the Sandringham Summit, Prince Philip was seen leaving the house very swiftly before they all arrived. He simply doesn't want to get involved any more.' Philip's quiet fury over Meghan and Harry's lack of dedication to the royal family stems from his decades of sacrifices in the name of the Firm. Before marrying Queen Elizabeth, Philip had to renounce his Greek and Danish citizenship to become a fully fledged Brit. He also changed his full name from Philippos Andreou of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderberg-Glücksburg to Philip Mountbatten, and earned the title Duke of Edinburgh after his wedding to the late Queen. The Duke also had to leave behind his successful career in the Royal Navy to take up new royal duties as the consort to the late Queen.

Prince William to remove HRH titles of Harry-Meghan Markle's children?
Looks like controversies and rifts never fail to die down in the British royal family. A few weeks ago, after a picture of Meghan Markle using her Her Royal Highness (HRH) title on a note for her friend went viral on the internet, she faced much backlash from people. Why? Because when Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, they had agreed to stop using their HRH titles. And so, when the Duchess of Sussex used her HRH title in the note, she was accused of misusing it for personal gain. Thinking on these lines, the latest buzz is that Prince William is reportedly planning to strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children— Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet— of their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles once he ascends the throne. The move comes after reports, initially highlighted by The Guardian and later The Daily Mail, suggested Harry wants to keep the HRH titles for his children so they can choose later in life whether they want to take on royal roles. Royal insiders were reportedly shocked. 'William obviously isn't going to make Archie and Lilibet working royals,' a friend of the prince told The Daily Beast. 'This feels more like trolling from Harry and Meghan. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Thinking a baby's HRH status guarantees them a future royal job is just unrealistic.' What does HRH really mean? For the unversed, the HRH label isn't a title, but a formal royal style granted by the monarch. It holds no legal power but carries major symbolic weight in the royal family. Harry and Meghan agreed to stop using the HRH style after stepping down from royal duties in 2020—an agreement reached during the Sandringham Summit with Queen Elizabeth II. However, royal sources claim Meghan has continued using the style privately and even allows others to refer to her as HRH—something one former palace staffer described as 'a betrayal of the Queen's trust.' Now, sources close to Prince William suggest he might issue new letters patent (official royal decrees) to formally remove the HRH styling from Harry's entire family. 'They've been asked politely to stop using the style, but that hasn't worked,' one insider said. 'This likely won't be tolerated much longer.' Experts note that the monarch has the full authority to revoke HRH status at any time. 'It's like an executive order,' said former government minister Norman Baker. 'William may restrict HRH privileges only to the children of the reigning monarch when he becomes king.' For Harry and Meghan, losing the HRH styling for their children would be largely symbolic—but still painful. Harry has reportedly wanted his kids to have the option of a royal future. As one palace insider bluntly put it: 'King Charles may avoid direct conflict, but William is furious with Harry and Meghan. And when William becomes king, he won't hold back.'
