He was a regular presenter of ITV Racing's Social Stable, alongside Oli Bell, 37, who remains a host on the channel.
Earlier this month, Oli was co-presenting the Social Stable at Aintree's Grand National Festival alongside one of ITV Racing's newest recruits, former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Sam Quek.
A source said: "Chris had a dream job on ITV Racing, but things turned sour after his ITV wouldn't up his pay. He wasn't paid what he thought he was owed.
"He had a great rapport with Oli in the Social Stable, and ITV Racing viewers have been left wondering where he went.
"It will have hit Chris hard to see ITV Racing's Social Stable move on with Sam taking the reins alongside Oli.
"But he was in great spirits at Aintree, just days ahead of his Celebrity Big Brother stint."
Chris's rep had no comment, ITV were also contacted for comment.
Chris is still a regular at British racecourses, and was decked out in clothing brand House of Cavani's luxury suits throughout this year's Cheltenham Festival in March.
During the four-day event, Chris told how he hadn't missed a Cheltenham Festival since he was 12 years old.
Following the event, some fans took to Chris' Instagram to question why he hadn't been presenting on ITV Racing, and called for his return.

Chris replied: "tell your 79 year old mother, I shall grace her television screen soon"
Another posted: "Why aren't you on the show with Ollie ?? X"
One of Chris' supporters wrote: "Why you not at ITV anymore?"
Chris was a runner at the Grand National Festival at Aintree in early April, where his fellow CBB housemate Chesney Hawkes, 53, was also in attendance, just days before the pair entered the iconic abode.

N-Dubz's Tulisa 'slept on bathroom floor' for 5 days after sex tape leak
Tulisa Contostavlos has shared details from her 'year from hell', with her drug trial and sex tape scandal leaving her mental health spiralling. The N-Dubz legend revealed in her new memoir — Judgement: Love, Trials and Tribulations — that she attempted to take her life twice amid the turbulent year. In a blow to her solo career and X Factor stardom in 2012, her sex tape was leaked, then the following year, she was charged on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. 'When I was a child, the bathroom was the only room in my house with a lock,' Tulisa wrote, according to The Mirror. 'I had always locked myself in there in times of distress, whether it was because my parents were going at it like two bulls in a china shop again, or my mentally ill mother was going off the rails.' She explained it had 'always been my place of safety' and that twenty years later, she was 'back lying on the bathroom floor'. 'Deep-rooted issues, I suppose,' Tulisa, 37, continued. 'When the sex tape had come out, I had slept on the bathroom floor for five days.' At the time, revenge porn was not illegal, so despite launching legal action against her ex-boyfriend Justin Edwards, all she received was an apology. The pair had split in 2009 and while the rapper initially denied responsibility, he offered his 'sincere apologies' via London's High Court. After the case was closed, Tulisa said: 'I am relieved that this is finally over. It has been a very testing few months and this was not a case I ever wanted to go through. 'I stand here today a stronger, wiser young woman who has taken this experience and learnt from it. I am disgusted by Justin and saddened by the people that believed I released the footage myself.' Her lawyer made clear this was 'not the case' and called the ordeal 'the most severe invasion of privacy imaginable'. This wasn't the only devastating moment that left Tulisa seeking comfort in the bathroom, having later attempted to take her life in there. Her former best friend, Gareth Varey, found her unconscious in the bathroom after she overdosed during the drugs case. 'What's the point in being alive just to be miserable?' she penned. 'How am I ever going to find happiness after this? Even if I'm found innocent, I'll be empty inside by the time I get to the end of it, and my life will be ruined.' The I'm A Celebrity star was revived but months later she attempted to take her own life for a second time, resulting in a three-day hospital trip. She was arrested after an elaborate sting and denied the charges, with the case collapsing after the judge believed the prosecution's witness and undercover journalist Mazher Mahmood lied in court. He was later sentenced to 15 months in jail. More Trending In the years that followed, Tulisa became addicted to sleeping tablets and benzodiazepines, which she finally freed herself from last year. She explained she had 'found her peace and faith' after a tumultuous decade, having joined N-Dubz at 11 years old and found fame by 20. So we took it back to basics while I was away." "I've come back feeling so much calmer and ready to start again." Making another hint of needing recovery time, she added: "Closely followed by my travel recovery ritual." Rochelle Vs Frankie This comes after The Sun revealed a secret feud behind the scenes with her former bandmate Rochelle Humes. All five members of The Saturdays insisted there was no bad blood when they parted ways in 2014. However, The Sun previously revealed that Rochelle and Frankie's 24-year friendship may have hit the rocks. The duo were invited to watch the tennis at Wimbledon as As guests of sponsor Evian. 'Even though they were pleasant to each other when they did brush shoulders, they didn't spend any extra time together than they had to, in between being amicable while passing each other en route to watch the tennis." How is Myleene involved? We also told how Myleene was locked in a feud with both Frankie and her Saturdays' bandmate Rochelle. Before all the drama, Myleene and Frankie - who both appeared on Loose Women - attended Rochelle's hen do in 2012. But the former Hear'Say star claimed she saw her fiance Graham Quinn, 51, and an unnamed celebrity 'unzipping' each other at her birthday party. Both of the stars were clients of her now ex-husband, who worked as a showbiz security manager. Their continued friendship is said to have caused a rift as Myleene, 47, reportedly believes Rochelle took Graham's side. But they have not been seen on-screen together on the ITV show since an awkward episode last year. At the time of the first report, representatives for Rochelle and Myleene did not reply to a request for comment. 6 Frankie explained that she was prescribed meditation and relaxation her on holiday Credit: Instagram / rochellehumes 6 She reportedly avoided her childhood friend and former bandmate Rochelle Humes when they were both invited to watch the tennis at Wimbledon Credit: Splash
