Imtiaz Ali's ‘Amar Singh Chamkila' bags top nominations at 7th SWA Awards
The 7th edition of the SWA awards, to be held on August 9, will honour groundbreaking films, series, and TV shows of 2024 that pushed the envelope of storytelling.

The nominees for the Best Debut category include Shuchi Talati for 'Girls Will Be Girls", produced by Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal. The film has also bagged nominations in the Best Lyrics TV/Web category for Anvitaa Dutt for 'Big Girls Don't Cry" title track and Shashwat Sachdev for the song 'Pehli Sharam".
Writers Biplab Goswami and Sneha Desai for 'Laapataa Ladies", and Bodhayan Roychaudhury for 'Sector 36" are nominated in the Best Debut category as well.
Sagar has been nominated in the Best Lyrics category for the song, 'Tu Hai Toh' from 'Mr. & Mrs. Mahi", which featured Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor.
OTT Shows such as 'Freedom at Midnight", Gyaarah Gyaarah", 'Lootere", 'Maharani 3", and 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack" have been nominated in the Best Screenplay and Best Dialogue web-drama category.
Fan-favourite titles like 'Panchayat 3" and 'Gullak 4" have bagged nominations in the Best Story, Screenplay and Dialogue categories.
The other nominees in the Best Story web-comedy/musical are shows such as 'Bandish Bandits 2", 'Cubicles 4", 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper".
Series such as 'Raat Jawaan Hai" and 'Mamla Legal Hai" have also bagged nominations in the Best Screenplay and Dialogue categories.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and A M Turaz have been nominated in the Best TV/Web Best lyrics for the song, 'Saiyaan Hatto Jaao" from 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar", and Akhil for 'Zaroori Toh Nahi" from the Varun Dhawan-led show, 'Citadel: Honey Bunny".
The other nominees are Juno for 'Asman Rootha" and 'Feeling Nayi Hai" from 'Panchayat 3" and 'Gullak 4", respectively.
In TV, Rupali Ganguly-starrer show, 'Anupamaa" has been nominated in major categories like Best Story and Dialogue, followed by another popular show, 'Bas Itna Sa Khwaab" which has been nominated in the same category. PTI KKP RB

We did comedy, banter, lots of different emotions and different situations, all the things an actor could want." The actor explained that Irani and her still share the same dynamic. In the show, the two went through a journey of becoming mother and daughter instead of in-laws and that helped build their friendship too. "Tulsi and Savita had become friends. They had become mother-daughter. They were no more saas-bahu... She's the same as she was before. And we are the same for her," she said about Irani, who went on to have a political career after "Kyunki..." concluded in 2008. "She's very, very smart, intelligent and focused in life. She can do everything. She's a multitasker, like all of us, how we are, you know, but she has really, really proved herself as a politician and as an actor," she added. She credited the show and its producer Ekta Kapoor for changing the trajectory of Indian television. "What Ekta did to television is give it a lot of glamour. It was the best camera work, the best lighting and the best story. It was about three generations: Baa, Savita and Tulsi," she said. She called Ekta Kapoor a talented individual who "hit's the bull's eye" with each story that she tells on television, ranging from shows like "Kasauti Zindagi Kii" to "Hum Paanch". The actor said there is a 'Kyunki...' Whatsapp group though the members use only to wish each other on special occasions. They, however, make an attempt to celebrate the show's premiere anniversary every July 3. "In any show that I go to, they'll say, we are like family but it doesn't work that way. First we were colleagues, then we became close friends and now we are friends for life. We are not in touch with each other every day, but we are always going to miss that very organic friendship that happened at 'Kyunki'," she added. The show's success, Mehta said, was unprecedented, "We made a show, and it became so big. It's a legacy and it remains an iconic show to this day." Musical comedy The Horse to close Aadyam's 7th season in Delhi
Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) Sangeet Akademi Award-winning director Sunil Shanbag's absurdist political comedy 'The Horse" is set to be staged in the national capital on September 6 and 7, marking the finale of Aadyam Theatre's seventh season. The musical comedy, scheduled to be performed at Kamani Auditorium, is an adaptation of Hungarian playwright Julius Hay's original work of the same name. 'I first read 'The Horse' in the mid-1980s when there was interest in East European theatre writing in the experimental theatre world in both Marathi and Hindi in Mumbai. The play struck me as a wonderful example of a biting satire lampooning authoritarian absurdity, blind sycophancy, and the complicity of the elites. 'I was in no position to do the play at that time, but it has stayed with me for almost 40 years, and I am grateful that the Aadyam Theatre is making the long-held wish come true!" said Shanbag, who makes his return to Aadyam Theatre after 'Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon" — the acclaimed adaptation of Shakespeare's 'All's Well That Ends Well" — was staged its inaugural season in 2015.
