Cricketer Jasprit Bumrah once wanted to run away with his now wife Sanjana Ganesan but got a hilarious reply

Cricketer Jasprit Bumrah is known for rattling stumps with precision. But off the field, he almost made a move so audacious it caught even his wife off guard. In a recent episode trailer of Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra's YouTube chat show, Sanjana Ganesan revealed that Bumrah once suggested eloping—an idea she instantly shot down with a cheeky jab about his famously short run-up.
Her amusing account of Bumrah's romantic proposal has quickly sparked interest among fans, especially since the couple had famously kept their relationship private before their 2021 wedding.
The proposal that didn't get off the ground
In the Who's The Boss? Episode 2 trailer, Sanjana shared a hilarious exchange she had with Bumrah before their marriage. She says he had floated the idea of running away to get married instead of organizing a formal wedding, saying 'Let's run, let's elope' in Hindi.
Her witty response came immediately after: 'Tum run-up pe bhi nahi bhagte ho. Tum mere sath kya bhagoge?' (You don't even run during your run-up. So how will you run with me?). The 52 second trailer has since gone viral, letting fans in on a rather light-hearted chapter from the couple's otherwise low-profile romance.
Before tying the knot, Bumrah and Ganesan had kept their relationship quiet. The two got married in a private ceremony in Goa in 2021, attended only by close friends and family. Most Indian teammates missed the wedding due to bio-bubble restrictions during a T20I series in Ahmedabad.
Life after marriage and a growing family
Since their wedding, both have juggled prolific careers: Bumrah as India's pace spearhead, and Ganesan as a sports broadcaster. They were blessed with their son, Angad, in September 2023. Currently, the couple is in England for professional duties.
While Bumrah recently claimed a five-wicket haul in Leeds, Ganesan continues her broadcast work during the Test series. Despite his demanding schedule, Bumrah still manages to surprise—though perhaps not with runaway plans anymore.

Jasprit Bumrah informs selectors he is available to play in the Asia Cup

India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has made himself available to play the forthcoming Asia Cup in Dubai, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source said. The Indian Express understands that Bumrah had spoken to the selectors a few days ago and informed them about his readiness to play. The senior selection committee headed by former all-rounder Ajit Agarkar is expected to meet on August 19 in Mumbai to pick a 15-member squad for forthcoming Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be played from September 9 to 28 in UAE in the T20 format. 'Bumrah has informed the selectors that he will be available for Asia Cup selection. The selection committee will meet and discuss it when they meet next week,' the source said. Bumrah was released from the Test squad for the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at the Oval keeping in mind his workload. Bumrah had played in the first Test at Headingley, skipped the second Test at Edgbaston, which India won, and played in the third and fourth Tests at Lord's and Old Trafford. During the Test series, he had two-five wicket hauls and bowled 119.4 overs. With Asia Cup to be played in T20I format, Bumrah won't have to bowl longer spells and the team management can even pick and choose his games. Bumrah will get a gap of nearly 40 days between the last Test he played in England and the start of the Asia Cup. Bumrah's last T20I appearance was in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Bridgetown that India won by seven runs. He took 2 for 18. The Indian team will be travelling early to UAE for the Asia Cup. Most of the players will be going to the Asia Cup without any match practice game. The BCCI had asked team management whether they were in favour of a short camp in Bengaluru. However, the team management felt that it would be better to fly early so that players can get used to the conditions. 'Instead of having a camp here, the team will fly three-four days early so that they can get decent practice before the tournament starts,' the source said.

To Russia With Love: Indian artists Paint memories of travel and stay in Russia

While Sinha's own works depict the nostalgia of student life abroad, other participants approach Russia differently, sketching their experiences in the cities like Moscow and St Petersburg. 'What we are trying to show is the sheer diversity of associations,' remarks Sinha, who left behind mechanical engineering to devote himself to art. 'For some, it is travel and study. For others, it is literature, films, or even second-hand memories. You don't need to have visited Russia to feel connected.' Over the month, visitors can attend workshops, talks, film screenings, and even Hindi adaptations of Anton Chekhov's short stories and Vasily Shukshin's plays. This edition also introduces a new reciprocal project, 'India, A Russian View', with selected works by Russian masters like Nicholas Roerich and Vasili Vereshagin that interpret India through Russian vision. The opening ceremony will be held on August 20 at 6 pm, with dignitaries from the Russian Embassy and Indian cultural institutions in attendance, alongside a performance by sitar and sarod exponents Lakshay and Aayush Mohan. The exhibition is on till September 20 at Russian House, Feroz Shah Road, New Delhi.
