Pony Express Re-Ride to arrive in St. Joseph
Each year, the National Pony Express Association recreates the legendary mail route that once connected St. Joseph to Sacramento, California.
Riders relay a mochila carrying commemorative letters across eight states, traveling more than 1,900 miles on horseback, just like they did in 1860.
The Pony Express is one of the most iconic stories of American grit and determination," said Gary Chilcote, the museum director a the Patee House Museum. "We're proud to honor that spirit and invite the community to witness this living history event firsthand.
The St. Joseph community is invited to witness the arrival of the rider, explore the museum's rich history exhibits and learn more about the tradition.
The Patee House Museum is open until 4 p.m. and is located at 1202 Penn St. The rider is expected to arrive at the museum by 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 21.

Midway International Airport to receive nearly $35 million for modernization, safety upgrades
Midway International Airport will receive nearly $35 million in federal grant money to modernize and improve safety. U.S. Rep. Jesús Chuy García (D-Illinois) announced the $34,989,773 grant on Wednesday. It was awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration. Specifically, the money will go toward repairing and maintaining runways and taxiways to ensure the airport operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. "Midway Airport is a key hub for connectivity and jobs in my district, and maintaining its runways and taxiways is crucial for the safety of air travel, the efficiency of airport operations, and the longevity of its infrastructure," García said in a news release. "As a frequent user of Midway Airport, I am confident that these investments will continue to make it an even more attractive option for travelers."

A Huge Cave in Kentucky Was a Smelly Disaster. Now It's Spectacular.
Main Street in the tiny town of Horse Cave, Ky., is the picture of small town America. There's an antiques store. A striking Art Deco bank building. A 19th century townhouse with burgundy shutters. And then, just down the block, across from GeeGa's home décor shop, there's a cave. For generations, the cave was all but lost to the town on top of it.
