Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Theo Huxtable on ‘The Cosby Show,' dies at 54

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the Emmy-nominated actor who starred as Theo Huxtable for eight seasons on 'The Cosby Show,' has reportedly died. He was 54.
Warner was on vacation with his family in Costa Rica when he accidentally drowned while swimming, People confirmed Monday.
In addition to 'The Cosby Show,' Warner amassed dozens of TV credits, including four seasons as the lead actor on 'Malcolm & Eddie' and six seasons as A.J. Austin on 'The Resident.'
Other appearances included work on 'Sons of Anarchy,' 'Major Crimes,' 'Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce' and 'Suits.'
Warner also won one Grammy for traditional R&B performance in 2015 and was nominated for spoken-word poetry album in 2023.
Of course, he was asked for his thoughts on co-star Bill Cosby when Cosby was accused of rape in 2015.
'He's one of my mentors, and he's been very influential and played a big role in my life as a friend and mentor,' Warner told Billboard. 'Just as it's painful to hear any woman talk about sexual assault, whether true or not, it's just as painful to watch my friend and mentor go through this.'

Malcolm-Jamal Warner's shocking death raises new swimming safety fears — here's how experts say to avoid drowning in a rip current

The accidental death of 'The Cosby Show' actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner has saddened the world — and raised new fears over swimming safety. The beloved TV legend's passing comes amid a record number of drownings on NYC's beaches, where the same type of rip current that claimed Warner in Costa Rica can threaten swimmers just as quickly. However, according to local water education non-profit Rising Tide Effect, a whopping 95% of all such fatalities are preventable — given the proper instruction. 4 New Yorkers enjoy the water at Coney Island — where rip currents can threaten at any time, experts say. Getty Images In the event you're caught in a rip current, the best thing to do is stay calm, swim parallel to the shore out of the current, and wait for rescue or approach the shore, the experts warn. Rip currents do not pull swimmers under — they just draw people out further from the sand, they said. Exerting too much energy kicking or swimming against the current can, in many cases, be fatal. A similar fate to Warner's befell MLB prospect-turned cop Chase Childers while vacationing with his family on Pawleys Island, S.C., earlier this month. The trouble began when a woman asked the dad of three to help save her brood of five, all caught in a current. After heroically saving the swimmers with the help of another nearby man, Childers disappeared into the water — until his body was recovered 90 minutes later by first responders. Authorities suspect that the ballplayer's admirable rescue efforts left him without the strength to make it back to shore. Drownings only take up to a minute to occur, so swimming close to a lifeguard when possible can often be the difference between life and death. In Warner's case, there was no lifeguard present at the time of his death, but signs advising the presence of potential rip currents were reportedly posted on the beach. 4 Chase Childers, 38, drowned just weeks ago during a beach vacation with his family in South Carolina. GoFundMe 4 Warner passed away at age 54 on July 20 during a trip to Costa Rica. Getty Images The actor was enjoying a family vacation in Playa Grande, and was reportedly swept out into a high current between 2 and 2:30 p.m. local time. Of the incident, Costa Rican National Police previously told The Post that he was pulled to the shore by nearby beachgoers, allowing the Costa Rica Red Cross to attempt resuscitation. Per the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), rip currents are especially common at low tide, so be sure to keep an eye on the water, and practice advanced caution by checking beach conditions and wave forecast before arriving. 4 Prevention is as important as protection when it comes to rip currents, Krause says. Getty Images Last year, NYC saw a record seven drownings, and six of them occurred while a lifeguard was not on duty. Per city data, only 34% of NYC residents live within a 15-minute transit ride to a NYC swimming facility, whether it be beach or pool, meaning a majority of New Yorkers make a trek to swim — and many go without swimming lessons or regular experience in water at all, leaving them at a higher risk. In the wake of increased drownings, more shark sightings, and rising temperatures, inexperienced New York swimmers looking to beat the heat this summer are advised to stick close to the shore, build up their confidence and skills with swimming lessons or opt for pools, officials and experts warn.

‘Little People, Big World' Star Announces Shocking Split

'Little People, Big World' Star Announces Shocking Split originally appeared on Parade. Little People, Big World patriarch Matt Roloff shocked fans of the TLC show on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, by announcing the end of his 8-year relationship with fiancée Caryn Chandler. "I have some tough news to share," he wrote in the unexpected announcement. "Caryn and I have decided to part ways and end our engagement." He added that "life's a continued journey" and that he believes this is the "right step" for them right now. He also assured fans that they "remain amicable and will always appreciate the many wonderful memories we have shared." Roloff concluded by thanking fans for their support and adding that he was determined to "move forward with positivity and trust." The duo began dating in 2017, following Roloff's 2016 divorce from longtime wife Amy Roloff, with whom he welcomed kids Jacob, Molly, and twins Jeremy and Zach. Fans got to know Chandler as she started starring on Little People, Big World alongside the family. Roloff and Chandler got engaged in April 2023, when the Roloff Farms owner popped the question in the backyard of their shared Arizona home. "After six wonderful years together, I asked Caryn to marry me and she said yes!" Roloff told People at the time. 'You said to me, 'I've thought about this a lot for a long time and I want to grow old with you,' Chandler recalled of the special moment. 'That's what he said, and then I started to cry.' "Our plan is to enjoy our engagement, and we are looking forward to a simple but elegant wedding in 2024," Roloff added. However, the nuptials didn't come in 2024, and fans began to wonder what was causing the delay. When the duo posted a rare selfie together in April 2025, many commented asking for details about the wedding. "Did you guys ever tie the knot?" asked one fan, while another quipped, "When are you going to marry her?!" A third added, "Glad to see you are still together." The end of their relationship may align with the end of another era - filming for LPBW. With no news of the show being renewed for a 26th season, fans began to speculate that season 25 may be their last. A recent cryptic post from Roloff only added fuel to that fire. "So many of you have never really seen inside [our barn] … why?" he asked alongside a photo of the iconic big red barn on their family farm. "Because the past 21 years, the film crew used it as their home base. Soon I'll arrange a video tour inside." Fans wondered if the reason they could see inside was because it's no longer being used by production. "Is the show over? I've been waiting for the next season!! I love seeing your life with Caryn," said one fan, with another asking, "Is the show not coming back?" Fans will have to wait and see. Chandler has yet to comment on the split. Justin Bieber's ‘SWAG' Secures No. 1 Spot On Billboard R&B Albums Chart

Justin Bieber's new album, SWAG, is proof that R&Bieber is back— at least for the moment. The surprise LP has debuted No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B Albums chart, and according to Billboard, the feat marks his second chart topper in that category since 2020's Changes, which dominated for three weeks. SWAG also garnered Bieber his highest streaming week ever for an album after earning 163,000 equivalent album units in its first week, with streaming accounting for 155,000 of those units. The album also debuted at No. 2 on both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Billboard 200 charts. As far as the records go, 'YUKON' debuted No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs chart, marking Bieber's sixth single to do so. Overall, SWAG had eight tracks land on the Hot R&B Songs chart, including 'GO BABY,' 'WAY IT IS' featuring Gunna, 'DEVOTION' featuring Dijon, 'SWEET SPOT' with Sexyy Red, and the titular track featuring Cash Cobain and Eddie Benjamin. SWAG concluded a lengthy hiatus in which Bieber was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, parted ways with his longtime manager Scooter Braun, got married, welcomed his first child, and sold his publishing catalog in a monumental $200 million deal. He reportedly sold his catalog because he was on the verge of 'financial collapse,' according to a documentary, TMZ Investigates: What Happened to Justin Bieber?. Back in April, after sources claimed he was in debt from cancelling a tour, his rep stated that it was 'clickbait stupidity.' Meanwhile, someone else told PEOPLE that Bieber was 'facing a lot of different demons right now. He is making some really poor decisions lately, further impacting friendships, money, and business. People are worried about him.' Bieber addressed such claims on the album. Listen above.
