De'Aaron Fox offers injury update

De'Aaron Fox offers injury update originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Last season, before the trade deadline, the San Antonio Spurs added All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings, hoping that he would be the long-term running mate for Victor Wembanyama. Advertisement The pair played only five games together, going 2-3, before Wembanyama had his season ended early with a deep vein thrombosis diagnosis in his shoulder. A few weeks later, Fox had his season ended as well, undergoing surgery on his pinkie finger. In 17 games with the Spurs, Fox averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists, clearly needing to get used to his new team. He expects to use the offseason to settle into his role with his new teammates and is already playing five-on-five and has been cleared for contact. 'I'm doing well. The surgery went fine,' Fox told The Houston Chronicle. 'I've been cleared, so I played a little five-on-five, and I've done contact stuff, so I'll be ready for next year.' The Spurs gave up Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Sidy Cissoko, and four first-round draft picks to the Kings and Chicago Bulls in a three-team deal to land Fox, although several of those picks had protections on them, and one of them ended up not conveying to the Kings. Advertisement Before the trade, Fox asked the Kings to get a deal done and listed the Spurs as the only acceptable landing spot. With Wembanyama in town, San Antonio has become a premier destination, and Fox got in on the ground floor, expecting the team to find massive success in the next few years. Gabe Craig named first-team All American

WACO, Texas (FOX 44) — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, or NCBWA, announced Baylor senior right-handed pitcher Gabe Craig as a First Team All-American on Wednesday, marking the first time a Baylor Bear received the recognition since Kyle Hill in 2019. Craig is the 11th different Bear in program history to earn first-team praise for a total of 28 times. Alongside Hill, Craig is now one of only two First Team All-America relief pitchers in program history. Additionally, Luke Boyd (2021), Zane Carlson (2000) and Troy Montemayor (2017) are the only other relievers to have earned All-America status, regardless of team distinction, in Baylor history. Statistically one of the most dominant relievers in the country, Craig finished the 2025 season with a 3-0 record and earned 10 saves in 32 innings of work. He struck out 51 batters and walked just three, holding opponents to a .124 batting average. He led the nation with a microscopic 0.56 ERA, a 0.50 WHIP and a 17:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Craig also ranked second nationally in H/9 (3.66), third in BB/9 (0.84) and owned the fifth-best K/9 (14.34) among Division I relievers. The NCBWA previously named Craig a finalist for the Stopper of the Year Award in addition to being named one of five finalists for the 2025 College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Award. He also picked up All-Big 12 First Team accolades and ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region Second Team praise earlier this summer. This is Craig's second All-America honor in as many days. Pelicans Send Message to Departing Executive

Pelicans Send Message to Departing Executive originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Bryson Graham's 15-year tenure with the New Orleans Pelicans came to a close this week, as the longtime executive accepted a new role with the Atlanta Hawks. Advertisement Graham, who was promoted to general manager in June 2024, departs after just one season in the position. His exit follows a 21–61 campaign that saw the Pelicans finish with the third-worst record in the NBA and miss the playoffs for the second straight year. Bryson Graham at New Orleans Pelicans Media Day© Matthew Hinton-Imagn Images Injuries to Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Dejounte Murray derailed New Orleans' season early. Williamson appeared in just 31 games, while Ingram was traded to Toronto at the deadline. 'Thank you for everything you did for the organization for the past 15 years, Bryson 👏,' the team posted, marking a public farewell to one of the franchise's longest-serving voices. Despite the setbacks, Graham's front office was credited with identifying and developing key rotation players, including Herb Jones, Trey Murphy III and rookie Yves Missi. He also played a role in drafting Dyson Daniels, who was later traded to Atlanta and earned All-Defensive First Team honors this season. Advertisement Graham now joins the Hawks as senior vice president of basketball operations, reporting to newly promoted general manager Onsi Saleh. The move signals Atlanta's intent to reshape its front office following the dismissal of Landry Fields in April. Graham's scouting background and track record with undervalued talent could prove valuable as the Hawks prepare for the draft and weigh roster changes after a second straight play-in exit. For New Orleans, the transition will continue with Joe Dumars, hired in April as president of basketball operations, who will now oversee the next phase of the franchise's rebuild.
