Michael Beale named by Hull owner in manager search update
The Tigers need a new boss after sacking Ruben Selles despite the Spaniard keepign them in the Championship after taking over midway through the campaign.
Former Rangers manager Beale has been in the running and it was reported he was in discussions with the Yorkshire outfit.
Owner Acun Ilicali has now confirmed that but appeared to play down suggestions the 44-year-old was a frontrunner, insisting there are others in the frame along with Beale and Emre Belozoglu.
Ilicali told Hull Live: "I don't want to mention too much about the possibility of the managers because I don't feel good when I'm talking about managers on behalf of the managers, like it is possible, it is not possible.

Rangers academy coach leaves to take up new role at Premiership rivals
"It is like me judging them. I believe all the managers we are talking to are very good managers. I think Emre is a top manager. Michael Beale, when you speak to him, you understand that he knows so much about the game.
"We have football minds in the club that will decide about this manager, and I cannot say at the moment to you that this one is like this or this one is like this.
"What I can say is that I'm very hopeful to finish the deal in one week.
"Yes (there are other potential candidates), because you only hear about two of our candidates."
There has been a bit of debate around whether Beale could return to Ibrox should Steven Gerrard land the manager's job after the pair worked together at the club previously.

Man Utd make final decision on Bryan Mbeumo transfer after staggering demands
Manchester United have seen their opening bid for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo rejected but they have agreed to pay his huge wages should they agree on a transfer fee Manchester United are prepared to meet Bryan Mbeumo 's mega wage demands if they are able to agree on a fee with Brentford - who rejected the opening offer from the Red Devils. The Bees are holding out for £60million and have turned down the opening package which added up to £55m - £45m of which was up front with the extras in bonuses. One issue that has been finalised is United's willingness to pay Mbeumo's £250,000-a-week wages, reports talkSPORT. Those at Old Trafford are prepared to stump up a huge salary to get the Cameroon international to the club - which would see the player earn five times his current wage. United have previously made huge blunders when agreeing to pay players mammoth salaries - but that doesn't seem to have put them off. Interest in Mbeumo comes after he delivered his most prolific season to date. He played in every Premier League match - which saw him come up with 20 goals and seven assists - and Brentford believe this summer is the right time to cash in. The frontman is about to enter the final 12 months of his deal and the Bees can bank a huge profit on a player they signed back when they were in the Championship. The west London side look ready to dig their heels in though as they demand their £60m asking price. It leaves United with a decision to make should they want Mbeumo. They've already spent £62.5m on Matheus Cunha but have made bolstering their frontline a priority. They've just missed out on Liam Delap, who chose Chelsea over Manchester, but have continued to pursue other targets. Mbeumo's skillset is likely to suit the 3-4-3 system implemented by Ruben Amorim, who needs new recruits if he is to be a success at Old Trafford. Newcastle have a well known interest in the Brentford frontman but those in Manchester have acted to try and get a deal over the line with Brentford consistently showing they will sell their top stars for the right fee. Doing so with Ivan Toney last summer. Manager Thomas Frank conceded that Mbeumo had admirers and his departure was possible if the right fee was tabled. "I can definitely understand the interest in him," he said. 'There should be interest in him. He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals. I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club so if someone comes in with the right price.'

CHRIS SUTTON: People were underwhelmed when Ange arrived in Glasgow, too... and look how that ended up!
The response to Rangers choosing Russell Martin to lead them into their new future has been underwhelming, and I get it in a way. It was between him and Ancelotti. When I first saw the latter linked, I thought, 'Jesus! Carlo?' But, no, it was his son, Davide, who's never managed before. Maybe there was a fantasist element among the Rangers fanbase who worked themselves up into a frenzy over that surname, therefore, and now they're disappointed that they've been left with Martin. But he deserves a fair crack at showing what he can do with this opportunity. There was a similar reaction when Celtic appointed Ange Postecoglou, remember. The jibes started as soon as he was announced. 'They've brought in an Australian bloke who's just been working in Japan,' and all that. But Postecoglou didn't turn out to be too bad, did he? Martin has a similar philosophy to him, too. Rangers might actually try to play football for the first time in goodness knows how many years, and the fans might grow to like his purist style if they give it a chance after the direct approach they witnessed under Philippe Clement. Martin deserves that leeway at the very least. Yes, we all know how badly it went with Southampton in the Premier League last season, but then he got them out of the Championship before that and did it in style. Rangers fans may see his win record in charge of MK Dons and Swansea and reckon they should be aiming for a higher calibre of manager. I say judge him on what he does next, not what he did before. Recruitment will be key for him. Making sure Nicolas Raskin stays would help, too. Last season, Rangers did well in their head-to-heads with Celtic. Yet they still ended up 17 points behind their great rivals in the Premiership. That wasn't where they threw away any chance at the title. It was in their other games. Now Martin needs to find that consistency which will hopefully get the fans on his side. I suspect they would have had an issue with whoever was appointed. That's the nature of football fandom. But let's judge Martin on how he does, not before he's even been shown where his office is at the training ground.
