This Somerville restaurant was just ranked among the best pizza in the world

Sure, Boston may not have the global pizza bonafides as their fellow Northeaster New York or even Midwest mainstay Chicago, but it's a town that knows good 'za, and how to do it well. That fact was clearly proven at this year's Best Pizza Awards, which took place on Wednesday, June 25 in Milan, Italy, celebrating the "sacred" art of pizza-making and recognizing the world's top pizza chefs. And one of those talented toques just happened to be one of Beantown's own.
Back for its third year, the 2025 ceremony featured a global voting panel of 512 experts from 60 countries to "ensure transparency and eliminate commercial influence." And along with famed Italian pizzaiolos (they did invent the stuff, after all) like Francesco Martucci of I Masanielli, Franco Pepe of Pepe in Grani and Gabriele Bonci of Pizzarium in Rome, the top 100 selection also featured American-based pizza pros including Juan Gabriel Pérez of Posto in Somerville, MA (400 Assembly Row). Pérez also placed in the awards' 2023 and 2024 installments but hit a ranking high this year at No. 54 on the prestigious list.
"As Executive Chef at Posto Boston he's praised for his creative flair, seasonal ingredients, and dough innovation," per the Best Pizza Awards. "With over a million followers worldwide, Juan blends tradition and modernity, earning a global reputation for craftsmanship and passion that honours pizza's authentic roots."
That means mozzarella is handmade in house, produce is locally sourced, and each wood-fired pie is made according to guidelines laid out by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. The place is more than just a pizza joint—it's a cozy Italian restaurant that works just as well for a first date as it does for a group dinner with friends.
And Posto is certainly in good pizza-loving company. "This year's The Best Pizza Awards has captured the true spirit of pizza: timeless, yet constantly evolving; deeply rooted in tradition, yet always open to new ideas and innovations. Milan provided the perfect backdrop for this global celebration, a city that, like pizza itself, blends history and modernity at every turn," said Cristian Gadau, CEO of The Best Pizza Awards and The Best Chef Awards. "To witness the passion, dedication, and artistry of so many talented pizzaiolos gathered together has been profoundly inspiring. I am immensely proud of what our community continues to achieve and how these awards give a platform to those shaping the future of pizza worldwide."

I made £5 supermarket cakes look Pinterest-worthy – I swear by a simple hack for a DIY drip & people say it looks ‘epic'

So if you can't afford to splash the cash on a posh birthday cake from a bakery, then you've come to the right place and will need to take notes. Posting online, Aysha wrote: 'Make £10 grocery store cake Pinterest-worthy.' To kick off the process, Aysha started by scraping the icing off of the two cakes. She then cut the cakes into smaller circles and used chocolate buttercream to stack them on top of each other. Once this was done, Aysha coated the outside and top of the cake with more of the chocolate buttercream. She then shared her simple hack for the perfect DIY drip and it couldn't be easier. Aysha confirmed that she used melted chocolate, which she applied to the cake using a piping bag, enabling her to get incredibly neat-looking drips. Following this, the foodie used American buttercream to decorate the cake and finished it off with Ferrero Rocher and some gold spray. Aysha confirmed that while she paid £10.50 for both cakes, she spent less than £5 on buttercream and £6 on Ferrero Rocher. As a result, it cost her just £21.50 in total for the jaw-dropping birthday cake. I DIY-ed a 'professional' level kids' birthday cake for less than £25 using Amazon & eBay buys - I didn't bake a thing Not only was the total cost much cheaper than buying a personalised cake from a professional, but we think it looks incredible too. The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 753,300 views. 19,100 likes and 107 comments. That looks amazing! TikTok user Social media users were impressed with Aysha's DIY birthday cake and many eagerly raced to the comments to express this. One person said: 'Excellent job.' Another added: 'That looks amazing!' A third commented: 'It looks delicious.' Meanwhile, someone else gushed: 'I'm 100% doing this for my husband's birthday in November. I've saved the video.' Anna Wintour stepping back from Vogue editor-in-chief role after 37 years

Dame Anna Wintour made the announcement to staff that US Vogue would be hiring a new editor giving her more time to focus on Condé Nast's other titles. ITV News' Ian Woods reports After 37 years as US Vogue editor-in-chief, Dame Anna Wintour is seeking a new head of the iconic fashion magazine, as she looks to free up time to focus on more of Condé Nast's publications. Wintour will retain her roles as chief content officer for Condé Nast and global editorial director of Vogue, to whom the new head of editorial content will report. It is understood the company will be replacing Wintour's editor-in-chief role with the new head of editorial content role, moving US Vogue in line with other global editions of the magazine which have similar structures. Anna Wintour is rarely seen without her sunglasses at public events. / Credit: AP As chief content officer, Wintour will continue to oversee every Condé Nast brand globally, including American Vogue, Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ, AD, Condé Nast Traveler, Glamour, Bon Appétit, Tatler, World of Interiors, Allure and more, with the exception of The New Yorker. Four years ago, the company changed its editorial structure, bringing together the editorial teams around the world for the first time. Every market where Condé Nast operates has a head of editorial content led by a global editorial director. The new role at American Vogue is part of that reorganization. The new structure has already been rolled out at other Vogue titles around the world. Whilst not quite a retirement announcement, the new opening signals a seismic shift for the fashion magazine as well as a coveted opening at the industry's most influential publication for aspiring fashion editors. Two years ago, Chioma Nnadi became the first Black woman to lead British Vogue as she succeeded Edward Enninful's own history-making six-year run as the magazine's first Black editor-in-chief. Anna Wintour is thought to be one of the most influential women in publishing. / Credit: AP Wintour transformed Vogue during her decades at the magazine. She was named creative director in 1983, served as editor-in-chief of British Vogue from 1985 to 1987 then rejoined the American title as editor-in-chief. She modernised the magazine by featuring celebrities on its covers and mixing high fashion with more affordable street style. She championed emerging designers, including Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, and broadened the brand's reach by adding new titles around the world. Wintour also oversees the annual Met Gala, fashion's biggest night and a major fundraiser for the fashion wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is also thought to have inspired the book, turned film, turned musical – 'The Devil Wears Prada,' which was written by her former assistant. Wintour previously played down similarities between herself and the titular character, saying it was up to audiences to draw their own conclusions. Despite this, Wintour attended the film's premiere wearing Prada herself. Vernon Kay says 'don't feed the beast' as he opens up on row with wife Tess Daly

More info Vernon Kay urged his colleague not to "feed the beast" after sharing details of a domestic disagreement with his wife Tess Daly over garden equipment. The 51-year-old broadcaster recently shared with BBC Radio 2 listeners that Tess won't "allow" him to purchase a sit-on lawnmower. It dashed Vernon's "dream" of recreating Tom Hanks' iconic scene in Forrest Gump In the cult-classic Forrest can be seen riding around an American football field on a mower. Vernon revealed he "couldn't wait" to get a sit-on mower after repairing his garden strimmer. However, when co-presenter Ellie Brennan hinted at a potential new project for Vernon, he jokingly warned her, fearing Tess, aged 56, might not share his enthusiasm. Discussing his vinyl collection, Vernon mentioned: "Records, they're great, all of mine are in the garage. Sometimes in the winter months it gets a bit damp." (Image:) Ellie's suggestion of a "new project coming on" prompted Vernon to respond: "Don't you dare feed the beast, behave yourself." He continued, referencing his previous gardening tool debate: "I've just got over lawnmower gate." Then playfully envisaging a conversation with Tess, he said: "'Tess, Tess, Ellie says we need some new shelves for the records'." Vernon had previously hoped Tess would agree to a new lawnmower for their Buckinghamshire residence, despite anticipating her reluctance towards a ride-on model. He told his audience: "I managed to get the strimmer working again, so all this week I will be strimming the borders of the garden. (Image: Jed Cullen/Dave Benett/Getty Ima) "Not yet purchased a lawnmower. On Friday I finished the show by saying Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly's allowed me to get a lawnmower and I can't wait. I've been doing that thing where you literally peruse lots of websites about garden machinery. "Goodness me, there's a lot of stuff out there that I didn't realise I needed. I think with this acceptance from Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly's that we do need a lawnmower that I might, somehow, be able to fulfil my Forrest Gump dreams. "Sit on a lawnmower and just mow the lawn." Imitating the iconic character, Vernon added: "I enjoyed it so much, I did that job for free." Before the presenter added: "That's going to be me, I can't wait. I don't think she'll let me have a sit on one though." Tess and Vernon met when they were presenters on rival TV stations. Tess was working for ITV on SMTV while Vernon was a Channel 4 star on T4. Their relationship however blossomed and Tess says the pair felt an "immediate" connection. Vernon proposed on Christmas Day in 2002 amidst festive celebrations at Tess's family home. The celebrity couple tied the knot at St Mary's Church in Horwich, Vernon's hometown, followed by a reception at Rivington Hall Barn. They now share daughters Amber, 15, and Phoebe, 20, together. Vernon will appear on Celebrity Gogglebox tonight (June 27) alongside pal Paddy McGuinness. Celebrity Gogglebox airs from 9pm on Channel 4.
