CMRF provides healthcare Security: Tourism Minister

Rajamahendravaram: Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh said that the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) is ensuring extensive healthcare security for the poor.
On Tuesday, at his camp office in Nidadavolu, the minister distributed CMRF cheques worth Rs 19, 18, 415 to 23 beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Durgesh mentioned that so far, CMRF cheques and LOCs worth Rs 1, 16, 53, 394 have been distributed to 91 beneficiaries in the constituency.
He highlighted that Rs 5 lakh financial assistance has been provided to the families of those who lost their lives due to a recent electric shock incident, with support from the concerned department. In addition, Rs 1.50 lakh was granted to farmers of Mortha village in Undrajavaram mandal who lost their livestock.
The minister said that CMRF has become a blessing for many poor families struggling to afford medical treatment. He stated that through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, countless underprivileged individuals across the state are being saved.
Noting the state government's commitment to healthcare, he said that through the NTR Arogyasri scheme, the coalition government is providing up to Rs 25 lakh in medical assistance to poor families below the poverty line. He further stated that 730 hospitals have been empanelled under NTR health services in the state, offering 3,257 medical services free of cost.
Shavukaru Poorna (Samisragudem), Muppidi Gangaraju (Samisragudem), Olipalli Srinivas (YSR Colony), Darlanka Prasad (YSR Colony), Sanku Seshamani (Pandalaparru), Sali Yesuraju (Tallapalem), Kakarlamohan (Lingampalli), Pantula Nagamani (Koramamidi), Katta Krishna (Subbarajupeta), and Sali Nagaraju (Pandalaparru) and others are among who received the CMRF cheques.

Shaheen Group secures 500 MBBS seats for Indian students in Tajikistan

Hyderabad: As hundreds of students fail to secure MBBS seats through merit or management quotas, Shaheen Group of Institutions has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Medical Social Institute of Tajikistan, under which 500 students will be able to pursue MBBS degrees at the institute. As part of the collaboration, the Ambassador of Tajikistan to India, along with the Cultural Ambassador and other diplomatic representatives, visited the Shaheen Campus. Dr Zainab, the Tajikistan coordinator, assured that full security is provided to international students there. Dr Abdul Qadeer, Chairman of the Shaheen Group of Institutions, explained that this agreement offers such students a chance to fulfill their dream of becoming doctors. He further stated that students can complete the entire six-year MBBS course, including hostel accommodation and Indian food, for just Rs 32 lakh. Dr Qadeer shared that the course fee can be paid in easy installments. The registration fee is Rs 49,500, and registrations will remain open until the end of June. The Rs 32 lakh package also includes insurance coverage. In a significant move, Shaheen Group and its medical partners will provide FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) coaching from the first day of the MBBS course. Shares of Niva Bupa Health Insurance slipped as much as 11.1% on Monday to Rs 82 on the BSE after a large block deal involving a 12% equity stake saw 56.3 lakh shares change hands, as per ETNOW. ADVERTISEMENT Ahead of the trade, on June 1, ET NOW reported, citing sources, that homegrown private equity firm True North and Niva Bupa's Managing Director and CEO, Krishnan Ramachandran, were set to offload a combined 132 million shares in the health insurer through a block deal. ETNOW had also reported that Fettle Tone LLP, an investment vehicle of True North, was expected to sell up to 122 million shares, or roughly 6.7% of Niva Bupa's equity. CEO Krishnan Ramachandran was likely to dilute 10 million shares, equating to around 0.5% of the company. The offer price was set at Rs 82 per share, pegging the total size of the transaction at around Rs 1,082 crore. Based on the latest shareholding pattern as of March-end, the company's promoter Bupa holds 55.98% stake, while True North holds 17.47% via Fettle Tone Bupa reported a 31.2% year-on-year rise in net profit for the March quarter, posting Rs 206 crore compared to Rs 157 crore in the same period last year. Gross premiums increased 18% to Rs 2,078.7 crore, while net premiums climbed 21% to Rs 1,672 the insurer's underwriting profit slipped 12.2% year-on-year to Rs 57.6 crore from Rs 65.6 crore. Operating profit also fell sharply by 43.1% to Rs 94.9 crore from Rs 166.8 crore in the year-ago period. Its solvency ratio stood steady at 3.03% on a sequential basis.
