
UK pasta chain with 'carbonara of dreams' is expanding with 300 restaurants plan
Flash forward to 2025 and the pasta company has just revealed major expansion plans, with a goal of having 100 restaurants across the UK in the next five years and 300 globally in the longer-term.
The company's first dedicated restaurant, a pasta emporium, opened in Richmond last summer with self-serve wine machines, a chef handmaking pasta in the window and some delicious dishes.
Following that, they opened seven other restaurants in areas such as Greenwich, Guildford and Manchester Airport. Now co-founders Alessandro Savelli, Finn Lagun and Chris Rennoldson are looking to invest more than £30 million in even more locations. https://www.instagram.com/p/DL7kCr6NxyQ/?hl=en
The team started Pasta Evangelists in a basement in London in 2016 and it went on to become a successful delivery business. The aim was to bring fresh pasta, just like Alessandro's Italian nonna used to make, to British kitchens.
They've since gone on to launch 47 takeaway units, a pasta bar in Harrods as well as pasta academies where they share their secrets.
Along the way they've garnered support from top chefs like Prue Leith and Gordon Ramsay and online fans have hailed the food as 'incredible', 'spectacular' and 'delicious'.
The chain's carbonara in particular is a hit with customers, who have claimed it's 'the best carbonara' and the 'carbonara of dreams'.
Speaking about the expansion plans, Alessandro told the Times he wants Pasta Evangelists to become 'the UK's fastest-growing, casual dining spot'. More Trending
The plan is to 'flip' a number of the dark kitchens they already own – these are spaces where professional food is prepared and cooked solely for delivery or takeaway purposes, with no store-front or dine-in area.
The business will also be looking to specifically target the South of England, Midlands and Scotland in the UK for new restaurants, creating up to 1,500 new jobs.

And a 'Pasta Apprenticeship' scheme is also in the works, to help staff develop culinary and hospitality skills.

Pinsent Masons, the multinational legal giant with some 550 staff north of the Border, has posted a 4.7 per cent rise in revenue as it gears up to move its Glasgow base into a landmark office building. The latest results, for the year to the end of April 2025, show that firm-wide revenue topped £680 million, while profit per equity partner reached £797,000, an increase of 0.5 per cent. Bosses said the firm had seen continued growth within its core sectors and across its jurisdictions. Liverpool's Alexander Isak transfer would break record for most expensive club spend EVER
Liverpool remain keen on Alexander Isak but any deal for the Newcastle striker would need to break transfer records and mean the Reds have spent more than any club in history across a single window Liverpool will eclipse the most expensive summer spend by any club in history if they secure a move for Alexander Isak - which would see their outlay eclipse the £400million mark. Any move for the Newcastle forward would also likely see them break the British transfer record for the second time in a matter of months having done so when they signed Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen - landing the German for £116m. Arne Slot has been aggressive in pursuing new talent in an effort to keep Liverpool at the summit of English football. After their Premier League triumph the Merseyside have bolstered their frontline and their backline. Jeremie Frimpong, like Wirtz, swapped Leverkusen for Liverpool in a deal worth £29.5m. Milos Kerkez's impressive season saw him land a move from Bournemouth for £40m and Liverpool have also addressed their No 9 problem with the signing of Hugo Ekitike. He joined from Frankfurt in a £79m deal. It all means Liverpool's spending sits at £289m - once Giorgi Mamardashvili's signing is also factored in - with Isak potentially increasing that total exponentially. That would almost certainly see the Reds surpass Chelsea's barely believable spend of £404m two summers ago that saw them add the likes of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Liverpool have gone from spending almost nothing last summer to potentially breaking records this summer. Slot landed the Premier League title in his first campaign, a major achievement, but some criticised the manner of their cups exits and Champions League loss to PSG. The Dutch manager has been keen to play down their spend, citing the money they've recouped and the gaps they've had to fill. Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have both left for more than £100m, which has left holes in the frontline, and Jarell Quansah has also sought pastures new. Quansah's departure means the champions are also looking at new central defenders, with talks underway to sign Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi and youngster Giovanni Leoni. Liverpool's summer spending does increase competition, which wasn't always the case last year with Slot using a very small pool of players to start games. Only 10 outfield players started a minimum of 25 games with others - the likes of Harvey Elliott - largely resigned to substitute roles. The potential addition of Isak, who Newcastle value in the region of £150m, but maintain won't be sold, would likely leave new signing Ekitike having to find a new position or drop out of the starting XI all together. Carragher's issue Jamie Carragher is among those to voice concern with the club's recruitment drive and claimed it "doesn't feel like the Liverpool way of doing things". The Reds have previously seen the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City attack the market, whilst they have attempted to take a slightly more measured approach. But now their former player turned pundit is stunned - and not a fan of the idea that they would spend nearly £80m on a striker only to have him as a back-up to a more expensive signing. He said on the Overlap: 'He (Isak) will be an amazing signing but from a fan's point of view for myself, I don't want Liverpool to spend £150m on Isak. There's something about Liverpool buying another striker (Ekitike), and he's backup. Something about it doesn't feel right to me. 'I look at Isak, and he's obviously thrown his toys out the pram once Arsenal signed a striker and Liverpool signed a striker. It feels a bit messy to me now. "For me, when I think of Liverpool, it doesn't look really planned. I don't think the plan is to buy a striker for £80M, and then be looking to buy another one for £120m. In terms of what Liverpool have done in the summer by bringing in players, they've spent a lot of money and it doesn't feel like the Liverpool way of doing things so much.'

How much does air conditioning cost to run in UK homes?
Data from Checkatrade's latest Home Improvement Index shows that demand between April and June was up by a quarter (23%) compared to that period last year. Most UK homes are generally built for insulation as opposed to ventilation, which can definitely exacerbate the heat issue during warmer days. Due to the increasing interest in air conditioning in the UK, some people might have questions about how much it costs to run. If you're looking to install air conditioning, taking the size of the room you want to keep cool is crucial. BTU (British thermal unit) is the measurement used to calculate the size of the air conditioning unit needed for a space. The main factor that determines this is room size, taking into account factors such as ceiling height, windows and doors. Matthew explains: "A 12000 BTU system is usually suitable for an average-sized bedroom. "The average cost of a 12000 BTU wall-mounted unit is £750. Installation costs for a wall-mounted unit tend to average around £1,150. "Larger spaces may require a ducted system, which has a fan attached to the exterior of the property. "Costs for these are slightly higher - around £990-£1,450 per unit with labour costs around £1,460-£2,100 per unit." A modern, professionally installed 12,000 BTU unit for a bedroom will typically cost between 30p and 50p per hour to run on a cooling setting, depending on your energy tariff. Matthew adds: "It's crucial that the unit is correctly sized for the room by a professional; an undersized unit will run constantly and be inefficient, while an oversized one will cool the room too quickly and switch off, leading to poor humidity control." The big question now for many is whether you should get air conditioning in the first place, which may come down to your tolerance for heatwave temperatures. He explains: "Research amongst estate agents shows that they would expect a home with air con to fetch £4,925 more if sold in summer versus winter. So if you do get air conditioning installed, selling your home in summer could help pay back some of the costs. "In addition, many modern air conditioning units are actually reversible heat pumps. This means they can provide highly efficient heating during the winter, as well as cooling in the summer. This may make the cost more justifiable for some."
