The Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Tetteh, held several meetings with officials from Misrata during a visit to the city on Thursday.
According to a statement from the UN mission, the visit is part of a series of community meetings that will be held across the country as part of broad consultations on the executive summary of the Advisory Committee's report.
During a meeting with the Misrata Municipal Council, members of the House of Representatives, the High Council of State, civil society representatives, youth groups, and the Commander of the Central Military Zone, Mohammed Musa, Tetteh discussed the options proposed by the Advisory Committee.
Participants exchanged views on the committee's recommendations, stressing the importance of learning from past experiences, including safeguards to ensure the implementation of any political agreement, and calling for support from the UN Security Council.
Attendees also expressed their deep frustration and concern over the current situation in the country, citing the recent clashes in Tripoli, the continued division of state institutions, widespread corruption, the proliferation of weapons, the indefinite postponement of national elections, and the lack of progress toward lasting stability.
In a separate meeting, Tetteh discussed with a group of youth the challenges they face in participating in decision-making at both local and national levels, including in political affairs. She reaffirmed the UN mission's commitment to consulting with Libyans on a roadmap that leads to national elections and the formation of a unified government.
Tetteh also praised the positive role played by the elders and dignitaries of Misrata in de-escalating tensions during the recent events in Tripoli and reiterated the mission's support for efforts to reinforce the ceasefire.

Bashagha calls for "inclusive national project", warns of "uncertainty"
Former Prime Minister of the parallel government, Fathi Bashagha, called on Sunday for the development of 'a sincere national project that upholds the dignity of the citizen, establishes a strong state, and unites Libyans,' warning that 'Libya is being pushed toward the unknown due to senseless conflicts and narrow interests that insult the will of the people and deplete the country's wealth.' In a recorded speech posted on his official Facebook page, Bashagha called for 'reviving dialogue and activating communication channels for eastern, western, and southern Libya,' urging all parties to free themselves from self-interest. Bashagha said that 'indicators point to danger,' arguing that the Libyan state is threatened with division and faces the risk of collapse. He explained, 'Weapons, which are supposed to ensure security, have become tools of repression; the economy is crumbling, reserves are being depleted, and the country's resources are being drained without oversight or accountability.' He addressed the people of Misrata, calling on the Municipal Council and all political, military, and security actors in the city to formulate a unified stance that reorganizes the internal front and rallies support behind the project of a unified state. Bashagha also directed a message to the international community, saying: 'Libya's stability is not merely a domestic matter but a regional and international necessity.' He welcomed any international efforts that deal with the Libyan file in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect and that aim to support the Libyan people in achieving peace and stability.
