CN-235 landing mishap: RMAF sets up board of inquiry
KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) will set up a board of inquiry to determine the cause of a landing mishap involving one of its CN-235 transport aircraft at Kuching International Airport this morning.
The RMAF said the aircraft experienced a nose landing gear malfunction while landing after completing a logistics flight from Labuan and Kota Kinabalu.
"The incident occurred at 11.15am and involved an aircraft from No. 1 Squadron based at Kuching Air Base.
"All crew members and passengers onboard were reported safe and did not sustain any injuries," it said in a statement.
Earlier, airport operator Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said the Kuching International Airport (KIA) was temporarily closed following the incident.
It said the closure was to facilitate the safe removal of the aircraft and subsequent clearing works.
MAHB added that a Notice to Airmen (Notam) has been issued, and the closure is expected to continue until 3pm.
