Nation-wide manhunt launched for ‘mastermind' of ₹9 crore cheating racket

The Sri Sathya Sai district police has launched a manhunt for Moramsetty Suresh alias 'Dall Mill Suri', 46, and his brother Pandu for allegedly engineering a ₹9 crore cheating racket across the country. The brothers are residents of Kothacheruvu mandal of the district.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday (August 8, 2025), Superintendent of Police V. Ratna said that Mr. Suri and his gang enticed small and medium businessmen into a multi-pulses trade before jumping payments.
The network is spread extensively across the south States and the north States of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal, the SP said. 'Mr. Suri and his accomplices are wanted in as many as 36 criminal cases, which include 29 cheating cases, bodily offences, extortion, land grabbing, atrocities against the SC/STs, and white-collar crimes,' the SP added.
Ms. Ratna said that Mr. Suri's crimes had led to fear among people of the Rayalaseema districts. 'As a known habitual offender, Mr. Suri's nefarious deals seriously threaten public peace and challenge the police. Though we have repeatedly warned him to mend his ways, he continues to intensify his criminal acts,' she said.
The SP said that as per the A.P. Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act, 1986, Mr. Suri had been declared a 'Goonda', and the District Collector issued the Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) orders against him on June 25.
The police froze multiple bank accounts linked to Suri, Pandu, and 32 of his accomplices, apart from collecting the details of their properties and issuing lookout notices across the country. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also stepped up investigation into the transactions of 'Sri Venkateswara Dall Mill', which is reportedly owned by Mr. Suri.
Ms. Ratna said that Suri wields a wide network of followers, many of whom were involved in violence and intimidation of those who oppose them.
'It came to our knowledge that the victims were forced to remain silent due to fear of attacks,' SP Ratna said, adding that the victims or the public can send information to the SP, Sri Sathya Sai District on phone [phone] or email: [e-mail], and their identities would be kept confidential, and they would be suitably rewarded.
