238 undocumented migrants nabbed in Sandakan immigration crackdown
State Immigration director Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yusof said the raids, carried out from 1.30 am to noon, targeted squatter settlements in Batu 8 and Batu 10, a construction site and a timber factory.
'Those detained were found to have committed various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963,' she told reporters here today.
Sh Sitti Saleha said the operations, involving 71 immigration officers, identified offences including lack of valid identification documents, overstaying and misuse of passes among the undocumented migrants.
'In the first five months of this year, 13,850 individuals were inspected, with 2,730 undocumented migrants detained,' she said.
Sh Sitti Saleha said 53 employers were also charged for hiring illegal migrants during that period.

JOHOR BARU: Thirty-four foreigners have been detained by the Immigration Department for working illegally at a medical centre here. Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the raid, carried out under Ops Selera and Ops Kutip on August 20, followed public complaints about foreigners working and living in the country without valid documents. 'A total of 120 foreigners and locals were inspected in the operation. Those detained included 18 Indonesian men, 11 Indonesian women, two Filipino men and one Filipino woman, aged 19 to 50,' he said in a statement on Thursday (August 21). A local man and woman, both managers of the premises, were also arrested. Mohd Rusdi said the foreigners were detained under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering and staying in Malaysia without a valid pass or permit, Section 15(1)(c) for overstaying, and Regulation 11(7)(a) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for misusing their social visit passes. They also breached Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for violating pass conditions. The two locals were detained under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for harbouring foreigners. 'All detainees have been sent to the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further investigation and action,' he said.

94 foreigners nabbed in two Klang Valley Immigration ops
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 94 foreigners were detained in two separate Immigration operations in the Klang Valley. In the first operation, the Immigration department detained 46 foreigners during a raid at a theme park near Bandar Sungai Long, Kajang, for working without valid permits. Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the operation was conducted by the department's enforcement division from Putrajaya on Aug 18 after two weeks of intelligence gathering and public complaints. "A total of 35 officers were deployed to the site, where 123 individuals – 52 foreigners and 71 locals – were screened. "From the checks, 46 foreigners comprising 31 Myanmar men, nine Myanmar women, two Indonesian men, three Bangladeshi men and one Thai woman, aged between 23 and 47 years old, were detained,' he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 21). Four witnesses were also issued summonses during the operation. "The detainees have been placed at the Immigration detention depot in Beranang for further investigations," he added. In a separate series of raids on Aug 19, enforcement officers targeted a factory and a supermarket in Balakong and Puchong, starting at 11.45am, Zakaria said. "A total of 64 individuals were inspected, of which 48 undocumented migrants – from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, India and Pakistan – aged between 18 and 49 years old, were detained. "They were later sent to the Lenggeng Immigration depot," he said. Some of the foreigners attempted to flee and hide during the raids but were successfully apprehended, Zakaria said. "The operations were launched following reports of employers hiring undocumented workers at these locations. "The foreigners are being investigated for offences under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155), as well as Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. "We will not compromise with foreigners who overstay, misuse passes or remain illegally in the country. Stern action will also be taken against those who hire or protect undocumented migrants,' he stressed.

Foreigner held for vandalising sister's home

Tawau District Police Acting Chief, Supt Champin Piuh, said the suspect, who has no valid identification documents, allegedly smashed the front door and a decorative mirror during the incident, which occurred around 9am on Sunday. Advertisement The victim, the suspect's 46-year-old sister, lodged a police report stating her brother had become aggressive after telling her not to raise her voice towards him and his children. A police team from the District Criminal Investigation Department (BSJD), led by Insp Kasinam Kadri, arrested the suspect at the same house at 2.13am the next day. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code (mischief), which carries up to 2 years' jail, a fine, or both and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for being without valid documents, which carries penalties of up to 5 years' jail, a minimum fine of RM10,000, or six strokes of the cane, upon conviction.
